[Video] - New Bark Town, 2-8-2021 | OTA
[A woman sits with a napping Igglybuff in her lap, leaning against a shady tree. She smiles hesitantly at the screen, and speaks softly but clearly.]
Ok, I think I've figured this out. Hello! My name is Annette, and I'm new here. This is Tritz!
[She smiles fondly at the Pokémon, then looks back at the screen, somewhat less hesitantly.]
I would be studying up on the trainer guide, but I set it down juuuuust out of reach, and, well, you see my dilemma.
[A tiny, pink...snoring? dilemma.]
While I'm waiting for some friends to arrive, is there anyone who can tell me more about how magic works in this world? I can't seem to get it to work, even the fundamentals. I know Tritz here has some magic, but like nothing I've ever seen before. I think from what my Gear said it's fairy magic, which is funny because as far as I know, fairies in my world are, well...fairy tales. Which I do love, of course! I just never studied them for actual magical insight or anything. Does anybody know more about human magic in this place?

I am... sorry to approach you with less than pleasant news. But beyond sleight of hand tricks and the like, magic is inaccessible here, I am afraid. It's one of the many limitations in this place.

But. Some are happy to note that there are the rare few weekends that allow you to reactivate your abilities. They are fleeting and far between but... At least you have something to look forward to?

Um- our magic doesn't work here. Everyone is turned human, non-magical, and any weapons are removed so that we can integrate safely with the world I think. Some effects stay, but we can't cast for ourselves. Our pokémon are our casters and fighters instead. It's going to be hard to get used to, but they can handle it.
[ The girl looks... troubled for a moment. ]
Do you know someone named Felix?
no subject
You've met Felix? I promise you, he's really a good guy, just...prickly. He's even coming out this way to come pick me up, I think. He's really nice if you get to know him. Don't tell him I said that though, I think it'd annoy him.
[She really seems to be genuinely concerned about getting this random stranger to like and get along with Felix.]
Oh, wait...did you say no magic at all? OR weapons? That's...oh no, that must be awful for Felix. He didn't say...was he grumpy when you met him? I bet he was grumpy. Please don't let that color your opinion of him, I'd be grumpy too. All those years of hard work and training...
[Oh. Right. All my hard work and training too...]
no subject
No! No no no, he's been really great with me! He's been teaching me things and everything. He's very fond of you, it shows when he talks about you. He hasn't done anything, I promise. But wow, it's wild that so many people from your world are here!
[ She gets it though. The loss of a lifetime's hard work, the void of the magic left behind... that one may be more on her to be honest than anyone else given her relationship with it but still. ]
But yeah. I think they made some wooden weapons to keep their skills sharp? But otherwise anything dangerous or not standard to the humans here have been removed. I don't know how... but. [ She shrugs. ] Not like we can do anything about it.

Studying fairy tails...? How do you catch them?
[The point: .
Razor's head.]
Re: [video]
Did you have magic in your world, too? Like Lightning and Ice?
[Maybe Geo is something like Meteor?]
I didn't really "catch" fairy tales, I just found them in libraries, or sometimes for sale in the market.
no subject
I used lightning. My -- friends -- fire, wind, ice... No steel claws here, either. 'Mons are weapons.
[And now he's tilting his head.]
Market only has fairy tails? Not whole fairies?

...and magic is all broken here or something, I don't know.
no subject
As for magic being broken...maybe that means there's some way to fix it! Now that would be something worth studying for.
no subject
[They are...not smart enough to comment on the magic thing, and also saying more would mean saying WHY they know magic is just McFucked, so nope.]

Also, "fairy" in this case is a specific classification used for certain types of pokemon and skills. It doesn't have anything to do with the Gentry themselves or the stories based on them.
[He's just. going to keep his opinion of the Gentry to himself for the time being.]
no subject
Yeah, I did see the section on classifications and all, though I don't remember nearly all of them yet. I would be studying them now, but...
[She glares affectionately at the napping Igglybuff in her lap.]
I'd have to move to get the book. What are Gentry? Is that what your world calls fairies? Wait, the way you said it...are fairies real on your world?
no subject
There are a lot of different classifications, all with their own strengths and weaknesses. They're definitely something you're going to want to study once Tritz is feeling more accommodating. [And here, he gives her a glimpse of the Leafeon, Jolteon, and Glaceon currently aggressively napping on the Eeveelution quilt he got for Christmas, because like hell do they let him use it. They barely even let each other use it.] It's not uncommon to get into battles with wild pokemon between or even in the towns, and then there's the gym system.
The Gentry are... fairies, yes. They're real on my world, but most people are not very aware of them as such. Fortunately.

[Instead of going into the negatives. Zuke decided that being informative was the best way to go out of the gate. That was what some did for him and it made a world of difference.]
Fairy type, huh? Yeah, I have one of them with me. Hey, Nadia...come say "hi".
[A Kirlia comes into the camera and giggles a little, waving a small hand.]
Fairy magic is kinda based on the ability your Pokemon has, which honest varies depending on type and species.
Re: Video
Oh, hello there Nadia! You look absolutely beautiful! And you're a fairy type as well? I simply must get back to studying soon, there's so much to learn! Just how many different species are there?
[She looks longingly at her book, just out of reach.]
Re: Video
[He was calm as he went and grabbed one of his notebooks, ruffling through his diligent notes.]
Nadia here is both a Psychic and a Fairy type, for instance.
[This girl looked eager to learn, so it was better to encourage and get the new person in the right path.]
Oh trust me, there’s so much to learn even for people who basically always lived here. But if you got a place you need to start, ask away at me. Name’s Zuke, been here a lil’ bit.

That's my friend! Hi Annette! I wish I could help you with magic, but it's never been my strong point. I'm excited to see you again! Have you decided what you want to be in this world?
Re: Video
It feels strange to say it's good to see you, when I feel like it hasn't been that long since last I DID see you, but it is good to see you nonetheless. How long have you been here? I've only just arrived, really, I haven't made any real decisions yet, I think. I was supposed to read up on my training guide, but...
[She points at the book just out of reach.]
no subject
It does feel like it hasn't been that long since we saw each other. I haven't been here for long just a month and a few weeks? But it hasn't been that bad I've enjoyed it. It's different that our friends here will be doing the battling instead of us, though we can make sure they don't get hurt that much. Oh yeah take your time! There are different things you can do that it's great to choose from.
[It surprised him how many choices they could have while staying here.]

[Well, Annette's appearance on the Gear certainly explains a few things. Namely, why Felix and Claude have gotten so excited. Felix especially, with how he's spoken about her music.]
[Although... this brings up the same question he asked himself of Ashe. What does Annette remember of him? What was the last thing she saw of him? It's an answer he always feels uneasy about receiving, but forces himself to respond regardless.]
[At least he's looking better than he used to. The bags under his eyes aren't nearly as intense - mostly gone, even. His hair has been brushed, and he's wearing something that isn't plate armor.]
[But he is clearly tentative as he speaks up.]
Hello, Annette. It seems you are still in New Bark?
Re: video
[He really DOES look better. Worlds better. Not at all as she'd seen him last. The knot of worry for him that snarled up in her stomach the moment she heard his voice starts to loosen. Whatever he's been through, she dares to hope it's brought him some peace. She smiles hopefully.]
You look...well! Very well! How long have you been here, might I ask?
no subject
And... There is no need for formality here. This is not Fodlan, and such a title has no bearings on anything here.
[It's, frankly, more than a little bit of a relief for Dimitri, although he feels guilty about it as well. But to be in a place where he doesn't have all of that responsibility on his shoulders, the threat of ruining so much again, or letting down so many...]
[There's the sound of a small nicker, and Dimitri turns his attention briefly to whatever horse seems to be near him, making a soft murmuring. His hand goes off-screen, to attend to what is clearly a needy creature.]
I have been here for a few months, now. It is Pegasus Moon, currently, but I arrived in Wyvern Moon.
Although... I understand that is not how it may have seemed from your perspective. Time is peculiar, here.

Oh, man, Annie, am I glad to see you. You can finally stop Claude and Felix from bickering endlessly about who is a bigger fan of your singing.
