Day at the races!
Who: Everyone!
Where: Moo Moo Farms
When: Saturday, March 20th
Summary:
The day is as lovely as you can expect any early spring day to be. You'll need a coat, yes, and there is a bit of a breeze, but the sun shines happily onto the wooden buildings that make up the Moo Moo Farms where we have all gathered today.
The various farm workers have worked hard to make their farm presentable to the public. Cheerful banners hang between the various sheds, stables and barns, which all have been given a bit of a cleaning (and perhaps a new coat of paint here and there). Of course, it is still a farm, so perhaps don't wear your very best shoes, but as far as farms go, it's been made as neat as can be.
And while the main draws of the day may be releasing the Miltank herd out onto the pasture again after a long winter inside -- whimsically called 'Cow Ballet' on the info sign -- and the Great Tauros Race, Moo Moo Farms has set up various little events and booths to entertain their guests, and perhaps teach them a thing or two about farm life.
A large information sign stands at the gate to the farm, letting visitors know what sort of events are taking place, as well as where and when these are happening. The two big ones -- the Miltank Ballet and the Tauros Race -- are spaced in such a way that people can easily attend both, and most of the other little events are available throughout the entire day.
The Miltank Ballet will be taking place at 1PM over by the big barn. There is little you can do to participate in this (unless you are a cow?), but if you want to watch some ecstatic Miltank dance through the mud and grass after a long winter inside, you should definitely come check this out.
The Tauros Race will start at 4PM (sign ups close at 3PM) and anyone who wants to help give the Tauros a good round of exercise is encouraged and welcome to sign up. There is, according to the sign, a small mystery prize to be won, but surely we are all here because we want to help some cooped up Tauros, right?
In addition to those two big events, two paddocks have been made ready where visitors can test themselves against a Bucking Bronco -- that's his name, Bronco the Bouffalant -- to see how long they can last in the saddle. Due to safety concerns, participants for this event will need to be 16+. For the children, there is a separate rodeo in which they can ride Vaquero the Dubwool, who, for all his seemingly wild behaviour, is actually a very well trained Dubwool who'll make sure no harm comes to the kids.
Of course, while people are free to bring their own food, the Moo Moo Farms have also set up a wide variety of booths where people can buy anything from fresh Moo Moo Milk and milkshakes to freshly made cheese and bread, and oh, is that apple pie? That most certainly is apple pie, as well as various other homey pastries. And as the day goes on, and people might start craving something a little less sweet and more filling, a booth opens up selling various curries. Don't worry, there won't be any Snorlax you need to share with this time!
And for anyone who has found themselves wanting and craving a bovine of their own after all these cute sights, you are in luck! Amidst the various booths, there is also one run by two cheery farm girls, advertising a sale on eggs! All the eggs that are normally available from the Moo Moo Farms can be bought at a whopping 50% discount. Mind that this is only on the purchase price of the egg itself. The price for any additional egg-moves remains the same.
There are also some other, smaller things set up, such a station where you can learn about milking a Miltank and a barrel where you can bob for apples, and even a horseshoe toss game. Most of these are definitely aimed towards teaching and entertaining little kids, but nobody will stop you if you decide to muscle past a row of Youngsters to claim the apple bobbing barrel.

[Dimitri still can't believe that, after all he's put Claude through, he could still be thought of as someone deserving not only of love, but Claude's love. It is... something to work towards, living up to that hope.]
[You know, when he isn't slightly blushing at the commentary, and Dimitri glances away to get control of himself.]
Well - it is my responsibility, as I got them all into such a situation. It is the least I can do.
no subject
[He doesn't know who exactly Dimitri's speaking about, and truly, he's hardly known anyone here for more than a few days. But the man in front of him radiates happiness when he speaks of his loved ones, and it is a very good look for him.]
Ah, but maybe that is too much philosophy for what is supposed to be a drawing of your horse.
[With Leonardo, there is no such thing as a 'simple' drawing, as Dimitri will find out shortly. He turns his notebook around so he and Fraldariend can see, and indeed, it looks something like this, only lacking the rider and with a long curly mane. The horse in the picture has a suitably smug expression on its face, somewhat vain.]
no subject
[Sometimes you just talk for ages, and then depression. Wild how that happens.]
[Still, he moves forward when Leonardo presents the picture as Fraldariend does the very same. His eyebrows rise when he sees the sketch. Even with his limited knowledge, he can tell how incredible this is - and the character alone is absolutely true to life.]
[So can Fraldariend, who seems to visibly have to restrain himself from just going absolutely Feral in delight. He seems to vibrate in place for a moment, the fur on his hooves glowing particularly bright, before he carefully rises to his hooves and does his best to give a little bow.]
[He! has! manners!]
[Dimitri smiles at him, patting his side, before looking up to Leonardo.]
It's wonderful. How much would you like for it?
no subject
[Sometimes you start painting and then take a tangent into figuring out how light works. It happens.]
[If he looks at the picture too long, he sees the flaws in it. A smudgy line, too dark in places, too light in others, the hooves could use more detailing---
Ah, but that is why he is the artist, and Dimitri the one looking at the drawing. He waves off the compliments with a grin and a wave of his hand.]
Nonsense! I wouldn't dream of charging you for such a small drawing.
[But.]
But, well, if you insist... [He hums.] Oh, I suppose twenty five florins would do nicely.
Wait, you don't use florins here, that's right. That'd be... oh, probably about... twenty-five hundred of these dollars. [That's P2500 for those playing along at home.]
no subject
[Then, for payment... Dimitri looks over to Fraldariend.]
Since you were so insistent on this, would you like to pay with the new trick you learned, Fraldariend?
[As though the Rapidash needs to be told twice. Up on his hooves, Fraldariend gives a little trot in place before he starts to gently shake his mane. And from his mane falls...]
[Well. That sure is money, which Dimitri starts to pick up.]
no subject
A very impressive trick! Where does the money come from to begin with -- [He can't help the question spilling from his mouth.] -- unless, it can't be that he makes it himself?
[The real payment is this, right here. The money is just a bonus at this point.]
no subject
As far as I can tell, he occasionally seems to simply make it... But also- Ah, stay still, Fraldariend, please. [Money tucked away into his pocket so that he can hand it over in a moment, Dimitri straightens up and gently strokes his Rapidash's neck.] He is a Psychic type, you see, and apparently his particular breed stores a great deal of power in their manes, and the fur along their hooves. Occasionally when he uses this power in battle, he will store the coin in his mane to be deposited later.
How the people in Johto handle this in regards to their economy is apparently a great mystery.
[Dimitri hasn't had time to look into it, because he has polycule drama to handle during any given month.]
no subject
[He sounds excited to see as many of them as he can. He very carefully pulls the page out of his sketchbook and offers it up to Dimitri and the Rapidash. On the other side of the page, there is a half-finished sketch of a farm hand feeding a Tauros in the field.]
But here you are, the sketch as promised.
no subject
[Truly like Claude, in that aspect. If the world were entirely known, Dimitri wonders if his lover would be able to be so happy. On one hand, it would take some pressure off... but on the other hand, he knows how much Claude loves to learn.]
[It is one of his endearing qualities.]
[With the exchange of money and art, Dimitri delicately holds the sketch up so that Fraldariend can see it better. While his Rapidash has stars in his eyes, Dimitri actually catches sight of what is on the back.]
Ah - is it all right that there is another sketch on the back?
no subject
[He grins widely. The world is so beautiful and complex, who wouldn't want to spend a lifetime learning all they can about it? And that's without pokemon getting in the mix!
Leonardo waves off Dimitri's concern, still smiling.]
Consider it a gift, my friend.
[Friend just rolls right off his tongue without any hesitation or shame.]
no subject
[But his lovers would protest that, so he tries not to dwell for too long, just swallows after a moment.]
Then I thank you for your generosity.
Will you be staying in the area after today's festivities are done, or will you return to the last town you were staying in?
no subject
Morgan and I were planning on exploring Violet City after this. And you, do you have any plans for after the fair?
[Hey, he doesn't just make inquiries about nature. Sometimes he makes them about his friends! That's how conversations work, he's found.]
no subject
Although... do be careful of trap doors.
[Don't land on your ass like he did with Claude on top of him]
As for us, we plan on staying in Olivine a while... We wish to find a residence that is a little more permanent, you see, even though some of us will still be traveling. Additionally, we will be having a wedding soon.

[:D]
And please accept my congratulations on the wedding, as well. I hope you have a wonderful time.
