Day at the races!
Who: Everyone!
Where: Moo Moo Farms
When: Saturday, March 20th
Summary:
The day is as lovely as you can expect any early spring day to be. You'll need a coat, yes, and there is a bit of a breeze, but the sun shines happily onto the wooden buildings that make up the Moo Moo Farms where we have all gathered today.
The various farm workers have worked hard to make their farm presentable to the public. Cheerful banners hang between the various sheds, stables and barns, which all have been given a bit of a cleaning (and perhaps a new coat of paint here and there). Of course, it is still a farm, so perhaps don't wear your very best shoes, but as far as farms go, it's been made as neat as can be.
And while the main draws of the day may be releasing the Miltank herd out onto the pasture again after a long winter inside -- whimsically called 'Cow Ballet' on the info sign -- and the Great Tauros Race, Moo Moo Farms has set up various little events and booths to entertain their guests, and perhaps teach them a thing or two about farm life.
A large information sign stands at the gate to the farm, letting visitors know what sort of events are taking place, as well as where and when these are happening. The two big ones -- the Miltank Ballet and the Tauros Race -- are spaced in such a way that people can easily attend both, and most of the other little events are available throughout the entire day.
The Miltank Ballet will be taking place at 1PM over by the big barn. There is little you can do to participate in this (unless you are a cow?), but if you want to watch some ecstatic Miltank dance through the mud and grass after a long winter inside, you should definitely come check this out.
The Tauros Race will start at 4PM (sign ups close at 3PM) and anyone who wants to help give the Tauros a good round of exercise is encouraged and welcome to sign up. There is, according to the sign, a small mystery prize to be won, but surely we are all here because we want to help some cooped up Tauros, right?
In addition to those two big events, two paddocks have been made ready where visitors can test themselves against a Bucking Bronco -- that's his name, Bronco the Bouffalant -- to see how long they can last in the saddle. Due to safety concerns, participants for this event will need to be 16+. For the children, there is a separate rodeo in which they can ride Vaquero the Dubwool, who, for all his seemingly wild behaviour, is actually a very well trained Dubwool who'll make sure no harm comes to the kids.
Of course, while people are free to bring their own food, the Moo Moo Farms have also set up a wide variety of booths where people can buy anything from fresh Moo Moo Milk and milkshakes to freshly made cheese and bread, and oh, is that apple pie? That most certainly is apple pie, as well as various other homey pastries. And as the day goes on, and people might start craving something a little less sweet and more filling, a booth opens up selling various curries. Don't worry, there won't be any Snorlax you need to share with this time!
And for anyone who has found themselves wanting and craving a bovine of their own after all these cute sights, you are in luck! Amidst the various booths, there is also one run by two cheery farm girls, advertising a sale on eggs! All the eggs that are normally available from the Moo Moo Farms can be bought at a whopping 50% discount. Mind that this is only on the purchase price of the egg itself. The price for any additional egg-moves remains the same.
There are also some other, smaller things set up, such a station where you can learn about milking a Miltank and a barrel where you can bob for apples, and even a horseshoe toss game. Most of these are definitely aimed towards teaching and entertaining little kids, but nobody will stop you if you decide to muscle past a row of Youngsters to claim the apple bobbing barrel.

rude inbox...
[She did, she watched so many dumb videos back home-] ...It's like that. They just got a little surprised, it's alright~!
no subject
[It's still no less startling, to be sure. But if she says they're okay, then surely they must be...
Izuku frowns, resting his hands on his knees as he regards Horse with still a healthy level of concern, unable to help himself.]
Is there anything we can do for them?
i love...how large...they are...
Andddd three. Two. One-
Horse pulls themself up, tail-fin wagging as they go to sniff at the new folk around.
Careful Izuku, they might try a friendly 'mouth around head' greeting. An alarming thing, but don't worry, you're not in danger,
Probably.]
no subject
[OH that sure is happening all of a sudden. Izuku is glad that "Horse" here seems to be okay otherwise though, if the way they're behaving is any indication. He reaches up a hand to place against the side of the Pokemon's head when he's being greeted in such a...wet manner, a gesture that nearly dislodges Thirteen from his shoulder. The baby ghost croons in protest but still holds Izuku firm. He's intangible at the moment, fortunately.]
Ah...I'm glad to see you're okay...Horse-san.
no subject
Be strong, Izuku.
Eventually, Horse is done with the UniqueGreeting however, and simply noses everyone else, their crest rising up and down. Carly just sort of...smiles.]
...Silvally do that, yeah.
I think it's something to do with their usual state having a mask. They just really like to use their mouths again!
no subject
Usual state...so you mean they have masks before they evolve?
no subject
I'm pretty sure it was to salvage their reputation, but they started rehoming the ones that were made and then returned or abandoned, which is where I got Horse. Horse can't fight, but they're pretty lovable~
no subject
[Excuse him, hello??? NOBODY mentioned anything like that when explaining Pokemon to him, even upon learning about dittos.]
Wait- they made a Pokemon and gave them out to people, only for them to be abandoned anyway?
[Izuku all of a sudden looks maybe way more invested than he should be, in a "I've only just met Horse but if anything happens to them I will kill everyone in the room and then myself" kind of way.
That and he just can't bear the thought of something like that, being the type of person he is. Who could, really?]
If Horse was returned because of that...that isn't fair.
no subject
I've heard a lot say the whole thing should just be shut down, but honestly that's going to be an uphill battle- plus it doesn't help any of the ones that have already been born, you know?
[She just smiles in Horse's direction while they're busy snuffling around at food. Awww.] I have no idea why they were returned in the end but...well, they're definitely a great addition to the family~! And way more manageable than Tinnitus is, Tinnitus keeps picking up on police radios, it's awkward.
no subject
It's way worse than a pet being abandoned. They're being brought into the world only to be thrown away.]
...how exactly did you say you adopted Horse, again?
no subject
You don't get to really see who you're getting, but from what I can tell they try to match you up based on the forms..? It seemed to work out for me anyway...
no subject
I'll keep that in mind. Thank you.
[He manages something of a smile in spite of the sad situation of the Type Null he's thinking about now.]
I hope you, Horse, and your other Pokemon are enjoying the fair though. It's been fun so far.
no subject
And it's really great right?! There's all kinds of events like this, and I have to say, it brings in some musical variety... [She hums, nodding in approval. If there's one thing that helps make things slightly more tolerable, it's the blatant game-style background music to remind them that the world is...built a bit differently.]
no subject
Does...anybody know why that happens, by the way? The music, I mean.
no subject
[She coughs.] 'Video-game-like'...
...but the thing is, none of the typical inhabitants actually hear it. Spooky huh?
no subject
[It feels familiar, that way.]
Uh...that is kindof spooky. The native people here interact with this place so much more differently than we do...
no subject
[Which is to say, it's all hands or nothing, you can't even weaponize a butterknife, the world just Won't Let You.
Kinda nice honestly.]
They really do! I mean they're definitely fully formed people, but it's honestly bizarre sometimes...and at the end of the day the only real notable difference is...well, the music type of stuff.
no subject
So, if you had to give what that is a term...would you call it magic, I guess? Or something else?
no subject
no subject
[Which is absolutely bizarre to Izuku.]
But where I'm from, it's all technology. That, and genetics.
[carly voice] `the bikes ran on souls in a treadmill apparently dw abt it`
...
...Course that uh...that thing wasn't exactly safe, and it...might have tapped into the afterlife actually, but details right? [She has a very nervous laugh now that she's on this topic.]
no subject
The...the what?
no subject
Just nods, slowly.
you heard her]
no subject
...that sounds...dangerous.
me whenever i talk abt zero reverse like 'this show was abt cards...'
But... [She waves a hand.] They're still using it...
LOL
