Day at the races!
Who: Everyone!
Where: Moo Moo Farms
When: Saturday, March 20th
Summary:
The day is as lovely as you can expect any early spring day to be. You'll need a coat, yes, and there is a bit of a breeze, but the sun shines happily onto the wooden buildings that make up the Moo Moo Farms where we have all gathered today.
The various farm workers have worked hard to make their farm presentable to the public. Cheerful banners hang between the various sheds, stables and barns, which all have been given a bit of a cleaning (and perhaps a new coat of paint here and there). Of course, it is still a farm, so perhaps don't wear your very best shoes, but as far as farms go, it's been made as neat as can be.
And while the main draws of the day may be releasing the Miltank herd out onto the pasture again after a long winter inside -- whimsically called 'Cow Ballet' on the info sign -- and the Great Tauros Race, Moo Moo Farms has set up various little events and booths to entertain their guests, and perhaps teach them a thing or two about farm life.
A large information sign stands at the gate to the farm, letting visitors know what sort of events are taking place, as well as where and when these are happening. The two big ones -- the Miltank Ballet and the Tauros Race -- are spaced in such a way that people can easily attend both, and most of the other little events are available throughout the entire day.
The Miltank Ballet will be taking place at 1PM over by the big barn. There is little you can do to participate in this (unless you are a cow?), but if you want to watch some ecstatic Miltank dance through the mud and grass after a long winter inside, you should definitely come check this out.
The Tauros Race will start at 4PM (sign ups close at 3PM) and anyone who wants to help give the Tauros a good round of exercise is encouraged and welcome to sign up. There is, according to the sign, a small mystery prize to be won, but surely we are all here because we want to help some cooped up Tauros, right?
In addition to those two big events, two paddocks have been made ready where visitors can test themselves against a Bucking Bronco -- that's his name, Bronco the Bouffalant -- to see how long they can last in the saddle. Due to safety concerns, participants for this event will need to be 16+. For the children, there is a separate rodeo in which they can ride Vaquero the Dubwool, who, for all his seemingly wild behaviour, is actually a very well trained Dubwool who'll make sure no harm comes to the kids.
Of course, while people are free to bring their own food, the Moo Moo Farms have also set up a wide variety of booths where people can buy anything from fresh Moo Moo Milk and milkshakes to freshly made cheese and bread, and oh, is that apple pie? That most certainly is apple pie, as well as various other homey pastries. And as the day goes on, and people might start craving something a little less sweet and more filling, a booth opens up selling various curries. Don't worry, there won't be any Snorlax you need to share with this time!
And for anyone who has found themselves wanting and craving a bovine of their own after all these cute sights, you are in luck! Amidst the various booths, there is also one run by two cheery farm girls, advertising a sale on eggs! All the eggs that are normally available from the Moo Moo Farms can be bought at a whopping 50% discount. Mind that this is only on the purchase price of the egg itself. The price for any additional egg-moves remains the same.
There are also some other, smaller things set up, such a station where you can learn about milking a Miltank and a barrel where you can bob for apples, and even a horseshoe toss game. Most of these are definitely aimed towards teaching and entertaining little kids, but nobody will stop you if you decide to muscle past a row of Youngsters to claim the apple bobbing barrel.

"But rather than criticizing your boyfriend's disguise in retrospect, you've put a much more interesting subject on the table." He cants his head to the side. "How exactly was Thace able to plan ahead better than I was, Steven? What did he know? What did he tell you?"
Claude was going to let this lie. But a temptation like this, an opening like this, is irresistible. Claude can't not pounce. And hey, if it ends in him confirming things that were only strong suspicions before now, what's the harm?

Steven draws a hand down his face. "Fuck," he mutters under his breath. "We're not talking about this here," he says. "It was one thing when we were joking about the two of you coming to the party in the same dress. It's another thing if we're talking about who sent the invitations. Look. Why don't you come to Fight Club for, say, lunch on Monday. We'll talk then."
And maybe the day in between can help him figure out how the fuck he's going to fix this... and how the fuck he's supposed to explain this to Thace.

Already, Claude's mind is ticking over things. It's one thing to talk it out with Steven here and now; he'd be able to assure Steven, for instance, that no harm is meant or intended, no more so than with the confidences Steven's already entrusted to Claude of his own free will. Having to wait means that Steven...doesn't know what Claude will do with his suspicions, whether Claude is a danger to him. And, as a result, Claude doesn't know what Steven will do with that. Hopefully nothing, but if the man's paranoid enough...well, he is an assassin at the end of the day, isn't he? And Claude's got a whole history of being targeted by assassins.
Steven has some things to figure out in the meantime...but Claude decides he may need to take some precautions up through Monday, for his own part. Especially on Monday.

(That's twice in as many minutes that Steven's said 'fuck' in semi-public. He's serious about this.)

"... does Geralt know the two of you are screwing?" Steven asks, curiously. Because that could have a lot to do with why Jaskier was still pining, if it was the kind of pining that involved fucking a lot of other men. Not all men realized that was a thing and Steven wouldn't be surprised if Geralt was one that didn't.
no subject
That's all safe enough to say. The stuff about Geralt is purely Claude's speculation, and as for Jaskier...well, all Claude's saying is that Jaskier refuses to believe that Geralt could be interested in him. There's nothing secret about that. Claude hasn't mentioned that Jaskier has feelings for Geralt. (He doesn't know that Steven's already well aware, although to be fair, it's not that hidden. But he's not about to make free with Jaskier's confidences.)

Steven shakes his head. "It's a damn mess, whatever it is. Still, I'm sorry about your dry spell, but it's not as if I can help you, presently." He was not going to keep Claude quiet that way. It wasn't worth it.

He shrugs and smiles. "But as far as that goes...my relationship with Sylvain and Felix started off a bit strained, for reasons. There's a risk of some jealousy issues for both of them towards me when I'm involved with the other. So it requires careful navigating to make sure everyone's comfortable with how we proceed."

Steven nods. "Poly is... complicated," he agrees. "I've never really attempted to do anything like that long term myself, even if I've had, mm, a few temporary encounters. Thace is actually fine with it, which surprised me when I told him of my tendency to crush on my more attractive friends, but I haven't taken him up on it, trolling Sylvain aside." He smiles, ruefully. "Though thanks to that Hot-or-Not we do have someone we've both agreed on as far as temporary encounters go, even though Thace still hasn't got up the courage to talk to him in the first place."
no subject
He winks at Steven. "For what it's worth, I promise not to be offended by any crushes you develop for me." This is mostly joking; Claude's usually a pretty good judge of when someone's interested in him, and he hasn't gotten much of a whiff of that from Steven. "But this mutually agreed on person must be someone else, since Thace and I have definitely talked. Can I be nosy and ask who it is?"
oh god does claude even know what 'bear' means in gay slang yet
Oh Claude and Jaskier got an eager education from visiting a sex shop awhile back~
He shakes his head slightly, still with a smile. "I wouldn't mention the teeth to him, though. They're a bit of a sensitive subject for him, both in terms of what they represent back home - and the kind of person who's been into them before this - and the idea of him ever using them in a romantic or sexual capacity. They're not my stories to tell out of school, but I think I can at least tell you enough to warn you off from saying anything that'd make him uncomfortable."
He rests a hand on his hip, grinning. "As for pelts...I say this purely for fun, because I don't think he'd fit either your or Thace's tastes otherwise, but you should definitely check out Jaskier with his shirt off sometime. He's just about as hairy as Grant. You wouldn't know it to look at him when he's dressed, either; it's honestly impressive."
Re: Oh Claude and Jaskier got an eager education from visiting a sex shop awhile back~
He's very conscious of how hot his face feels.
"Anyway, I'll know not to mention it again."

He pats Steven's shoulder. "In any case, don't worry about it. It sounds like it wasn't anything too serious, so it probably only caused a few moments' awkwardness for him at worst. And hopefully I've told you enough to be able to avoid any further, worse moments. As nice as his teeth are - and he does wear them well - if you're going to be focusing any attention on him, or showing interest in him, I'd go for his other features."
reason not 'rain' oh my fucking god autocorrupt
(Well, except when he was trying to figure out how to break up with Jack and it was a weird weekend and he was dreamwalking. But even then he hadn't cheated physically. Just... mentally.)
