Hello again! I am in need of some advice. I recently caught a Hoothoot, a decently sized round owl, and she seems to have trouble sleeping unless she is kept in a pokeball, staying up at all hours of the day. Is this common for such creatures? Are there perhaps better methods to assist with sleeping?

Oh, and another thing, I almost forgot! The egg I purchased at the fair hatched a few days ago. Are there any strategies for speeding this process up? I tried wrapping the egg in a warm towel, but I am not sure if it had any measurable effect.

The more I learn about this place, the more I'm uninterested in sticking around longer than is necessary. I already had things that were planned, important things in motion, before ending up here.

And dealing with something as ridiculous as this is absolutely not on that list. Nor do I continue to appreciate the lack of what I would consider basic skills at this point!

What would you consider those basic skills to be?

Well, I suppose it's... less innate and more bestowed onto me by some natural order being or whatever. But I had a more wild kind of magic that could do a whole lot of things! And also just being not entirely human meant I didn't need to sleep for anywhere near as long as a human had to.

They called them trances or... something. But it's a lot easier to notice things around you in those than it is sleeping and out in the middle of nowhere and by yourself can make you a target if you aren't careful.

It is much easier to travel with others than by yourself, yes.

Perhaps there might be a technique you could learn that is similar to these trances you mentioned? Though I suppose it wouldn't be the same as something you could do without apparent effort.

I had a travelling companion for a bit, though he... seems to have left since. Perhaps for the better.

It could be possible, though I doubt anything will be exactly similar to it. But it's odd, everyone I've seen here so far has been human, other than the creatures. I'd think there'd be some sort of diversity.

How interesting! Where I come from, there are many species of animal and plant and mineral, but only one of... I suppose you'd say people. Perhaps there are others here who have found themselves changed as you have?

That's very possible, it's not unheard of to be able to disguise yourself, either. Not that I looked particularly less than human other than a key feature or two...

Humans come in such a variety of sizes and shapes, so it would make a lot of sense if that held true for people who aren't precisely human, too. What do you call not being entirely human where you are from? You say there is a lot of variety?

I was a half-elf, particularly half human and half elf. Though they can be mixed with other species as well. An example of others being my henchpersons back home, one being a water genasi and the other being a firbolg.

I see. That is not so different than where I am from, only with many more options to choose from.

And being partially an elf would let you have these trances you mentioned?

Exactly! And those aren't remotely all them out there, just the ones I can name off the top of my head. There's far, far more. Nua is... a diverse place, mostly.

But alas, right now it is only myself and Snippers 2.0.

I wouldn't mind the bit of company, it's been some time since I've really been doing anything alone.

Aw, come on, it'd be fun! Well, maybe not the errand boy part. But Leo could teach you to paint and take things apart and maybe put them back together, and everything!

That sounds like fun, but you'll have to be really clever to avoid having heroes thwarting you all the time. What sorts of evil deeds are you planning to do? If they're not too evil, I can help!
