41st Recipe [Video, Goldenrod City]
[So! It looks like Jane's finally back in town, judging by the video opening up in her house, but she's not the one filming. No, it looks like Dinah, her ever-present Audino, has gotten her hands on the Pokegear, and once it's confirmed on and filming? She giggles and holds a finger to her mouth. Shush, guys, this is gonna be great.
She hands off the 'gear to what you can briefly see is a Plusle and Minun, who hold it and follow while you get to watch Dinah obtain a aluminum pie tin and a container of Poke-Cool Whip. She fills the pie tin diligently with a spoon, even smoothing out the top when she's done, and it looks. Really nice? But a tin full of dense whipped cream can only be good for trouble, and Dinah tiptoes out of the kitchen with her impromptu film crew, and you come along for the ride.
Looks like Jane's not far, though. She's in the living room, back to the camera, looking over some newspapers. Dart the Bisharp and Deva the Indeedee are with her, too, staring at the papers like they also know how to read.]
- could start with some of these smaller requests? As much as I'd like to jump right into looking for lost Pokemon, I do need to build up experience and get to know the city much, much better than I already do. Oh, but what if these are already fulfilled when I go? That'd just be my luck, wouldn't it. "We're sorry, we already found the unmentionables a flock of Pidove stole from my clothesline, but thanks for asking!" Ugh...
Dih!
[Dart and Deva look up a second before Jane turns around, so you can see their eyes widen before Dinah launches the whipped cream pie into Jane's face.]
BWUH-!
[Oh God it's everywhere no, no, this is horrible, it's all over, this is a mess. Dinah is laughing, and her two partners in crime have dropped the 'gear to giggle as they roll around on the floor.]
Aaauugh...really?! Marcus, Penelope, Dinah...! What was that f-
[There's a pause. Thankfully, the 'gear has dropped at such an angle that you can see Jane's expression go from shock to anger to panicked realization, and you can imagine her eyes changing too, even though they are hidden by whipped cream-covered glasses.]
...Oh my God it's April Fool's Day. Oh my God. I forgot.
[Excuse her while she has a small crisis of prankster faith, and Marcus the Minun rolls into the 'gear in his laughter and turns it off.]

For what it's worth, Izuku isn't laughing when he responds to the video at least. He wouldn't laugh at the misfortune of someone he's only recently just met. He can just...get that out when the video isn't rolling, it's fine.]
Are you alright, Jane-san?
I'm fine! I'm fine, really, this is the time of year for those sorts of shenanigans...if anything, I'm impressed Dinah went out of her way to prank me. And put it on the network. I cannot believe she put it on the network. Hoo...
no subject
It seemed harmless, at least...she must have just wanted to have a little fun with you. April Fools is the only day you can really have an excuse for pranks like that anyway.
[Right?]

[Bakusquad, anyone.]

Is something wrong?
no subject
[Ugh, she doesn't want to like, unload on Izuku, he's new.]
I suppose...I'm just really distracted lately. Found out some things about what happens back where I'm from, and it's not. It's not great? It's actually awful. I'm okay now, but I can't really shake the spectre of it over my head, you know?
no subject
I can understand where that would be upsetting. I'm...I've been worried about getting memories of things that I'm not prepared to handle while I'm here. Things were rough before I got here.
[That's where he'll leave it, for now.]
I think talking about it helps, though. If you're comfortable with it.
no subject
[Noooo he's new!!! He doesn't need to know about Homestuck!]
I guess the most delicate way of putting it is...I found out that I reached a point from which there's no turning back, no changing anything. I can't put my mistakes right anymore. Or, well, I could, if the particular parties were here, but they aren't, and they rarely if ever show up for longer than a month. And I suppose a lot of people would then look at their lives here, in this world, and think, "Well this doesn't mean anything anymore", but I can't bring myself to think that at all. It does mean something. My time here has probably been the most normal and happy stretch of years in what feels like forever, and I cherish it so much. So it's like...those two mindsets are sort of clashing in the back of my mind all the time.
no subject
He's quiet for a time, seriously considering his words before speaking again.]
I can't imagine how hard that has to be to deal with. But...you're right. Even if the life you've been living in this world doesn't effect the one you have in your actual home, that doesn't make this place any less of one. The time you spent here hasn't been wasted.
[Especially if it's been genuinely enjoyable. Normal.]
I can't say I'll ever really understand how time works between this world and the ones we left behind, and it wouldn't be fair for me to tell you to just try not to think about what's going on back home. But...I think having friends who can relate to your experience helps.
no subject
[But he's on such a different wavelength that Jane doesn't even know how to begin to discuss it with him.]
...It's complicated, to say the least. I guess I just don't want to burden anyone with the hard facts.
no subject
I understand. But I think...if they're really your friends, they won't feel burdened. Sure, it might be hard to hear, but...I don't know. I know I'd want to help if I could, if I were on the opposite end of that situation.
no subject
Shucks, buster, I think I'll have to take that all into account, then. I guess...I'll sit down and take my time figuring out the best way to discuss it.
[There is no easy way to drop "I'm now dead back home" on anyone, but this...is a soft sort of pep talk and...she needed it more than she realized.]
no subject
He smiles, glad to see that Jane is receptive to his advice.]
I think that's the best place to start. Just don't push yourself, okay?
no subject
[In fact, she knows the first person she needs to begin with, after really thinking about it.]
You take it easy too, alright? But, uh, in regards to travel and stuff.
no subject
[Just in time for Prom, coincidentally enough.]
no subject
no subject
[Not that that's a bad thing, but it can feel isolating to be in one singularly small town surrounded by nothing but wilderness on all sides.]
no subject
no subject
[At least, that's what he figures will happen.]
Though they'd probably just want to fly there. I don't have any Pokemon yet that can fly though...Hawks can, but he's not big enough to carry anything much less a person.

no subject
[He hasn't quite evolved as of this thread, but soon he will be slightly bigger and much more dapper.]
I know an owl isn't a hawk, but he's named after a Hero back home who goes by the name "Hawks".
no subject
[Yes, we have a non-Troll, thematically appropriate version of Betty Crocker in this world. It's fine.]
no subject
I like that name too. Having a bat big enough to let you fly on it sounds crazy, though. I-In a good way, of course!
no subject
[It helps that Jane does not back down from anybody.]
no subject
[And both Kirishima and Katsuki will have giant bats of a different species of their own soon, if not already by this point.]
But I guess that's what happens when there are so many Pokemon out there.
no subject
[Not even close, but then again, no one asks you to catch one of every species on Earth, not unless you're Noah.]
no subject
[BECAUSE YEAH the common theme here does still be to try to catch everything, or as many as you can...and Izuku can't fathom having 800+ Pokemon much less the thousands and thousands that would have to exist if it were equal to that of earth.]
no subject
Yeah, gosh, it definitely would. The number of Pokemon is already so high, I don't think anyone could feasibly catch every single one! We don't need to make something impossible even more impossible.
