Egg Post(s): Video

[Kiri is totally re-using this video and posting it more than once, so feel free to timey-wimey anytime between March 10 and now! Anyway! The video opens with a little girl in a pretty dress, costume wings and feathered headband. She's very proudly pointing out piles of eggs and several birds, including Toucannon and Corviknight. She mimics a bunch of voices of men and women, and people are likely to recognize Claudia Kishi and Jaskier in there among the others.]

Come 'round! Mighty big bird! A very good egg egg egg! Stronger eggs! Fly! Roost! Taunt! Brave Bird!

[Then she goes around to the eggs, pointing at them and mimicking Pokemon cries:]

Wingull! Psyduck! Rattata! Ducklett! Farfetch'd! Rookidee! Pikipek! Misdreavus! Frillish! Sandygast! Litwick! Spritzee! Skitty!

Toss a coin to your -- ... breeder!

[The first part is sung in imitation of Jaskier, and she visibly falters and stumbles but manages to get breeder out on key. And in a voice nobody will recognize, because it's her very own, not mimicking anybody.

In addition, Kiri has (probably with some help because the spelling is ...mostly correct) typed up and attached a list of her available Pokemon eggs and their movesets with "Trade for bird egg too! Rufflet, Doduo, and Piplup I need most! Hidden Ability I'm also looking for!" written in at the bottom along with prices. 1500 for most eggs, 1000 for the 4 Litwicks with only level 1 moves, and 2000 for the HA eggs.]

[AHA! He's figured this video thing out! So, Kiri is getting one of Leonardo sitting on a park bench, Pidoves cooing... kind of all over the place, but the one sitting in his lap belongs to him.]

I'm interested in purchasing one of these eggs of yours. How do they get from where you are to where I am?

[Oh! Oh! Kiri has those! Hers are Unfeasants now but she takes a moment to show Leonardo her pair with clear excitement!]

Pidove! Good bird!

[In answer to the question she mimics Chatot and Corviknight a few times at her big steel raven, who very gently puts an egg on a blanket and picks it up in one claw to demonstrate.]

Fly!

[After a pause, and with a little effort:] Or with PC.

I think they're all good birds, really.

[But he's very fond of this one, yes.]

Oh, of course, the PCs, I'd forgotten about those. I'll send you the coins through there, if that is okay with you? And... oh, right, I'd like one of the Rookidee eggs, too, please.

All good birds! All really good birds!

[She's very proud of switching the word order while mimicking Leo and it shows, but she's quick to go and pick out an egg from the clutch of Rookidees.]

Best egg!

[She nods at the payment option and then tips her head.] Egg PC? Egg fly?

Flying would be best, I think. I'll drop by the Pokemon Center in Violet City to pick it up.

Fly!

[Kiri nods and scribbles a note to give to her Corviknight who takes off. It'll take a few hours, even as the Corviknight flies, but soon enough there will be an egg for Leo with a note. "Best Rookidee for Pidove bird man! From Kiri!"

Meanwhile, she points to herself.]

I am Kiri! Yes, I am very sweet.

It's very nice to meet you. I am Leonardo.

It's very nice to meet you!

[She switches to Jaskier's voice next though.] Thank you! Thank you!

[She's sold her first egg! She's very proud and is going to dance around a little in excitement.]

You're very welcome!

Oh wow, look at all those eggs! I'm just starting out with all this breeding stuff, but look out, world - Morgan's on the rise! Hehe.

Anyway, I would like to buy some eggs! Let's see...I'd like a Misdreavus egg, a Frillish egg, aaaaand - ooh, a Wingull with the hidden ability!

Those wings of yours look really soft. I bet they're great for napping on. My buddy Leo likes birds a lot too, I bet you'd get along.

Morgan's on the rise! Look out world!

[Kiri is totally keeping that second mimicked phrase and will put it to use for chaos. She quickly runs to her piles and separates out three eggs.]

Misdreavus, Frillish, Wingull!

[As for the comment she puffs up and proclaims:] Used to be a Kenku bird!

[Morgan laughs in delight.]

Wow, that sounded just like me! I mean, exactly like me. You could play so many pranks with that talent of yours. If you have, I want to hear about them!

[She pokes at her Gear for a moment, with a look of concentration.] I can send you money through the magic box, right? I'll do that...right...

[Wait, what does this button do again?]

...riiiiiight...

[A-ha, there it is.]

Now! There. I don't know what kind of bird a Kenku is. Could you fly? I've always wanted to fly. Or at least, I've wanted to since about a week ago, but maybe always too, who knows?

[And Kiri knows how to send the eggs through the PC right back. She starts up a video and beams when she's done.

And then goes a little sad. The childishly drawn picture is of a family of bird-people, their wing-feathers too short to fly with. And she shakes her head. But!]

Mimicking things!

[That's in a completely different voice]

"Aw, sorry about that. I've heard you can fly on Pokemon, though, if they're big enough and learn the right things."

She grins at the new voice. "Ohhh, that's amazing! Are you a ventriloquist? My father tried to teach me how to do it once, but he said he could always see my lips moving."

[Kiri giggles and goes to stand next to one of her Corviknights. She is a very small girl and they are very large birds.]

Biggest fly!

[She has to combine two different voices to make that sentence more or less work. Then she parrots back. Her lips are definitely moving, so that's probably a no.]

Are you a ventriloquist?

[Then she shakes her head.] Kenku bird!

[Morgan whistles, impressed.]

Holy moly, that is one humongous bird. Hey, did you hear that? Apparently, I know how to whistle!

[She whistles some more.]

I bet that could be useful. As a signal, maybe, or...

[She gives Kiri a mischievous grin.]

To lure in birdies like you! Hehehe. Oh, so a Kenku bird is like a Chatot!

[Kiri whistles back, grinning, and then she nods.]

Chatot! Chatot Cha-- chatotot!

[It doesn't really carry meaning to Pokemon, because it's just a mimicry of the sounds, but it's a very good mimicry. Kiri's Chatot hops up on her shoulder, ready to attempt "translating"]

Hi Kiri! Can I get a Spritzee and that Ducklett? The only hidden ability ones I have right this minute are Rockruffs, though--but that means they can evolve into a special kind of Lycanroc, even if they're not a bird. Oh no, wait, I still have some Hidden Ability Azurills. Those have a really good one.

Oh and I've got Swablu, Pikipek, and Wingull eggs still but they don't have hidden abilities and I think you have those too.

[Oh! Puppy! Kiri looks a little doubtful and mimics Lycanroc as a question, turning the camera on a Midnight, who is very friendly but kind of scary looking. Then she's gathering up the eggs.]

Spritzee and Ducklett!

[She thinks for a minute.]

Azurill yes.

You'll like Azurill, Kiri. They look like egg-shaped bunnies when they grow up. Like Janine here. [And Claudia will turn the camera so that Kiri can see Janine, who indeed is an egg-shaped bunny. She's got big round glasses.] They can have eggs with some birds too, whichever ones that are also in Water Group One and Fairy Group! I think Spritzee is one of those and I know Wingull is, because the Wingull I sent you was one of Janine's eggs.

[Kiri nods along excitedly.] Spritzee is one! Janine's Pelliper!

[That's said pointing at her now grown-up Wingull that she got from Claudia. and finally, after some more consideration.]

Rockruff yes.

Great! Do you want me to send the eggs by post or to trade them in the computer?

PC!

[That tends to be faster after all, and some of her birds are out delivering eggs right now.]

Great! I'll let you know once I get to the pokecenter!

[Ron grins. Kiri has a level of excitability that reminds him just a bit of his baby sister. Aside from the voice mimicry, but Hana was a super-ninja baby so he really didn't have room to talk.]

Hey, can I get one of those Rookidee eggs?

[He'd actually bothered to check the Dex just before he'd responded, mostly on Maddie the Snubbull's suggestion, and the Corviknights looked pretty cool. Even if Ron didn't exactly have the best experience with crows.]

My name's Ron Stoppable, by the way. What's yours?

[Kiri scrambles to get an egg from the collection and brings it forward, nodding. Then she speaks in a woman's voice, expression full on mischief.]

I am Kiri! Yes, I am very sweet.

I can see that!

I'm about a day out from Cherrygrove right now, so I can pick it up there.

[He pauses for a second, because he is actually curious about the whole voice mimicry thing, and it takes him a second to figure out if he should ask.]

So uh, what's with the whole mimicking thing?

Used to be a Kenku bird! Cursed to mimic things!

[She does something with her gear, grinning from ear to ear.]

Pick it up there.

Hey, that's a pretty good range you got there! Could I buy... a Rookidee, Litwick, and...

[He pauses for a moment, before making a final decision he'd admittedly been thinking over and going back and forth on for a bit before ever calling:] Uh, and a Spritzee?

[Kiri's already scrambling for the eggs before he gets to Spritzee, and when she places them in front of her 'gear she's got two in hand.]

Litwick! Shadow Ball! Payback!

[That's said while holding up the left egg, then she lifts the right.] Litwick! Shadow Ball!

[Then she cocks her head to the side in a very bird-like manner. Which one?]

Oh, hmm... I'll take one with Shadow Ball and Payback, thanks!

[If he's going to be thinking about breeding his own Pokemon, he might as well think ahead and try for Pokemon that start with more moves... plus, this kid's adorable and he wants to give her money, so there's that.]

[Kiri bounces up and down and claps her hands with glee. Then she carefully sets the selected eggs together so they're apart from the rest.]

Send soon! Best egg!

Great! I'll send over the money now - thanks, and keep up the good work!

[He absolutely cannot deal with this adorable little business child, okay.]

[She really shouldn't. She knew better, after all - she had a Mismagius for Merlin's sake!

But it would be quite useful for light, warmth and additional protection while travelling....]

Um, hello? Could I possibly take one of the Litwick eggs off your hands?

[It would be fine. Surely a Litwick would be easier than her Mismagius to manage. Plus it would be a newborn. Hermione resolved to teach it how to properly behave before Umbra had a chance to be a bad influence.]

[Kiri claps her hands and goes to poke through the eggs. She's obviously very pleased with the one she brings back.]

She's a good egg!

[That is an excellent mimicry of a man with a German-like accent.]

[It may be a little strange, receiving an audio post as opposed to video, but that's what comes through among the others asking for eggs. Instead of requesting one, though...]

You say you're...a breeder, too?

[Too, as in "guess who found out they're also one and has been too afraid to ask what the HELL that's supposed to mean"]

[Kiri keeps her end on video, although she's tempted to switch to text. And she mimics right back, removing the questioning inflection.]

You're a breeder too!

[He sounds confused but Kiri has just the phrase. Claudia explained to her how to be a breeder too!]

That means you take care of Pokemon and help encourage them to lay eggs! Make nests!

[That nest bit isn't Claudia's voice as Kiri points to a nest made out of blankets and pillows for the eggs currently being brooded over by attentive Toucannon. But then she's back to Claudia again.]

Registered breeder make sure everyone's comfortable then two of them disappear for a while! Making eggs together! More eggs and stronger eggs too! Take care of them.

[The last sentence is mimicking a man's voice. And Kiri actually does get up to help turn some of the eggs and give the Toucannon some happily accepted snacks.]

Help...encourage them to lay eggs...

[How is he supposed to do that? And never mind that, there's an even more pressing issue-]

I'm not sure, I mean...I know you don't have to be, er, the same species to be compatible that way- [Which he learned from reading about it, back home, among other things.] -but most of my Pokemon are insects and mammals, which...I don't think that would work?

[Kiri has to think about that for a while. Then she holds up her hands, copying sometimes a man's voice and sometimes the autotuned 'dex voice.]

Bug, bug. Some bug, fish. Some bug, grass. Some bug, fairy. Bird, bird. Some bird, fish. Some bird, fairy. Some bird, field.

[She shifts her camera to the duck-like birds holding leaks.]

Field.

[Then she spreads her hands out wide to try to encompass everything.]

Horse, cat, dog, lizard, mouse, some bird, pig, cow, snake, bunny, some grass...

[Kiri has to take a breath and then just shrugs. Almost everything is in field. Except for bugs, it seems. And most birds.]

So...it seems the rule of thumb is that most Pokemona are just...already in the same family, somehow.

[CONFUSING. But, he guesses that does make things a bit easier in terms of trying to figure it all out.]
