001 - [Video | un: Uravity]
[It has been...a long few days for Ochako Uraraka. A long, long few days. After arriving in Newbark Town, like everyone else, she was given little to no information about, well...anything, and left to her devices. Like. Everyone else. Honestly, you'd think that there'd be an actual system put in place for all these newcomers or something. Like a Welcome Center, with information and helpful things to know. Hell, and some spare clothes...one single pair of pants and a t-shirt, alongside her pajamas, are not going to last a grueling journey like this, seriously. Thank goodness Ochako is as frugal as frugal comes. She can most certainly make her money last, and knows all the tricks to ration her food and take care of her belongings.
One of the few perks of being dirt poor.
The first day or two was spent mostly just acclimating to the new normal. Getting to know her Pokemon - a cute and very pink Cleffa, which Ochako finally decided on a name for...Parfait. It was cute and sweet, just like her little, meeping partner. Next in line was, uh...actually training up the little thing. It was weird thinking that this tiny, pudgy, pink cream puff could fight, but...then again, a lot of people underestimated her, and Ochako had one hell of a punch, and her high kick was, by Gunhead's standards, top shelf. So, after a few fumbled first battles (Ochako learned quickly that birds are jerks in this world), she eventually got the hang of it, hanging around the outskirts of Cherrygrove (in the early part of route 29 and 30 respectively), battling Pokemon and looking to expand her growing team.
And boy did she find one hell of a Pokemon to add. The video feed comes one with Ochako looking quite disheveled, her hair standing up in a few spots and a spattering of...some sort of food item on her cheek.]
Mmh... H-Hello, everyone, um. M-My name is Uraraka. U-Uraraka Ochako... [She tries to smooth her hair down, but to no avail.] I-I'm new here and. Ehh...
I-Is it normal for Poke...Pokey...Poker--...for your critters to refuse to eat? D-Do they have preferences? Because, um... [Ochako switches her Gear's camera to show off a very petulant looking Espurr, sitting on its butt on a stone with arms crossed, a little bowl in front of it floating around and smacking on the side of the rock every few seconds.] Th-This one won't accept anything I've given her. She's like a picky child...
[Ochako heaves a big, heavy sigh, shoulders drooping.] I don't want to waste all my food, but I don't want her to not eat, either!! Mmmaahh...Eclair-chaaan...please eat something. Maybe some water? At least a drink?

Where can I get one?
[LISTEN. LISTEN. Ya girl has been a frugal penny-pincher since she can remember...growing up poor, and having a rough life financially. Her parents owned a failing construction company and her goal back home was (and still is, really) to become a Professional Hero, get a good government sanction, and make enough money to give her mother and father a decent, worry-free life. She loves them dearly - they're good people who raised her with love and care, despite the stress and hardships they faced, and how hard they had to work just to make end's meat. Now, someone is telling here there's a literal Lucky Cat here that just pukes money?? And it's legal?

[It's pretty high in his priorities right now!]

[Eclair, having been ignored for far too long for her liking, crawls over and up her Trainer's body - a combination of her own little kitten claws and some psychic hovering - and smushes her face to one of Ochako's cheeks, butt pointed to the camera in true cat fashion. MOTHER, I AM NOT BEING LAVISHED WITH AFFECTION AND, FRANKLY, I FIND THIS OFFENSIVE.]
This is Eclair... Are you done being angry? Are you still hungry? I promise I'll find something to feed you soon.
no subject
[Oh, oh, uh. That's happening.]
Pfff. I mean, she'll probably - she'd probably eat people food, right? Everything wants people food.

[Ochako has to sort of shove her Pokemon away a little bit as it invades her space more, shuffling it into her arms like a mother would with a toddler, balancing Eclair against her hip as the cat-like Pokemon holds onto her shirt.]
Oi, stop, you...! I know most animals like to eat human food, but I'm not really sure they should. I don't want her to get sick if I feel he anything she shouldn't have, you know? Maybe fish really is the best thing to give her, even if it's pricey... I could also try asking that nice nurse at the animal hospital. I bet she'd know what to give them to eat.

[arthur you are the only person who eats that shit]
But, uh, yeah. Asking the vet's probably good.

Oh!! That's actually not a bad idea! I could pick the seafood off for her, and eat the rest myself! I wonder if there's anywhere that sells it with squid, mmm...or eel. [She puts a hand to her cheek, a glossy look in her eyes as she salivates at the mental image.] Heeeh...maybe I'll treat myself to some pizza for tonight, actually...that sounds so good.
Oh, and of course ask the vet, yeah. [Ochako, please. Don't neglect your Pokemon.]

[so]
But hey, if - if you find any good seafood pizza?
no subject
I'll let you know first!!

[Just her luck that an easy source of financial stability in this new, weird world is out of reach. Makes sense, in a way, but still doesn't make this whole ordeal any easier for newbies that are struggling.]
Thank you for asking, Arthur-san, that was very kind of you.
no subject
[It's sort of nice to have that as a goal, at least? He has no clue what to do with himself once he gets there.]
Y-yeah, no problem.

[That spa, man. It was heavenly. And very much needed after a hectic first time arriving. Actually--]
Where are you at now, Arthur-san? If you're still around Cherrygrove, you should visit one of the spas. Um...I-I know it's not something boys usually do, but. Y-You look really tired...n-no offense!! I just think it'd be something good for you, maybe?
no subject
[It's not really a masculinity thing, or even that he's upset to be told he looks tired. Everyone tells him that constantly. It's just...weird? He's only just met her, and people don't...usually say things like that to Arthur.]
Uh - yeah, maybe, I guess. I mean, I just, um. Don't really sleep much anymore, heh.
no subject
But wait, not sleeping?]
Oh...d-do you have insomnia, maybe? Um...I-I don't know if this world is the same, but. You could maybe find some sleep aids, you know? Or...i-if you trust me enough, Parfait-chan - that's my Cleffa - can sing this really cute lullaby that puts things to sleep. maybe it'll work on people, too?
no subject
[Kinda. Sorta. Never used to be this bad Before.]
I'm used to it, though, y'know? It's not really a big deal.
no subject
Well...if you're sure. But the offer is always available.
