DAMMIT, IRENE
Though the knock isn't quite unexpected, she hadn't been that whole bridezilla archetype that insisted on everyone doing everything and putting up with these stupid wedding traditions.
Ah, it's Erina, of course it is.]
Yeah, come in. Just trying to get this makeup shit done. [Luckily she'd been smart and, well, she'd done the more messy bits of it before getting into the dress and waited for the parts she knows she won't get everywhere after getting the dress on.
It's weird for her to be wearing mostly neutral or natural tones and even weirder to actually have her hair down. The colors not looking as ridiculous as one might have thought.]
What's up?

[Erina lifted the box with both hands now, and nodded to the chair as she closed the door behind her. Peda wasn't with her, for once. Considering the pachirisu was 1: 10 feet tall and 2: Already consigned to his ball for attempting snack crimes, one could hardly blame Erina. ]
You look lovely.

Which includes her.]
Okay? [Really, she has no idea what any of this might be, though the box is... a thing. Huh. At least she's pretty compliant with everything as she moves to sit properly.]
Thanks... It's weird being in a dress, but it... well, I guess there's good reason to be in one for this.

[Erina put the box down and opened it. Inside, the full parure of the Joestar bride rested on a cushion of red velvet. Erina began to take them out, piece by piece, affixing them to Jolyne's wrists, neck, and ears as she explained.]
Your dress symbolizes the new journey you will be taking as a wife. The earrings of this set belonged to my mother. Something old, a symbol of who you are before this marriage. And maybe a little Pendleton luck will rub off on you.
Something borrowed, though not entirely true: this is yours now. I was so angry to hear no one knew anything of the parure by your time that when it unexpectedly fell into my hands again, I'd already made up my mind that you would have it. It's the idea that matters, though: that your marriage will be as enjoyable and happy as mine is with Jonathan.
As you can see, my Jolly, this is all also blue, for good luck all your lives through.
[She placed the Tiara on Jolyne's head, fitting it under where the veil would lay.]
No, as for the sixpence. I happened to have one in my pocket, but I didn't feel Jonathan would be quite comfortable entering a lady's room when she was getting ready. It's our hope that you never feel hunger or strife, and that you both remain wealthy and comfortable until you are spindly old women.
[Erina's voice became a little thick at the end, and she swallowed around the lump in her throat as she finished setting the tiara, its weight a little heavy on the head. A reminder of the family they shared.]
Well, darling girl. How do you think you look?

She's quiet for once and almost mercifully as she goes through the motions and speaks, each bit taken and mulled over. It... makes sense in a way, even if she's shrugged it all of as some weird superstitious shit.
Once she's finishing she's inspecting the mirror before taking a deep and shaky breath, keep it together, Jolyne.]
I... almost like someone that's not myself, if that makes sense? [Not in a bad way, but it's absolutely wild to her at the same time.] I was never into the whole girly and frilly stuff ever since I was young, that it's... a weird look, but not unpleasant?
no subject
Well, I believe you look quite lovely, Jolyne. Pretty as a picture, as they say.
no subject
Thanks... Man, I hope I don't fuck this up somehow. [What.] Though maybe I'm just overthinking it.
no subject
I can tell you, I was nervous. Perhaps it is something all brides feel, despite their otherwise full confidence?
[She makes a small adjustment to the tiara and puts her hands on Jolyne's shoulders.]
Besides, you two have known one another and lived together for how long now? [Though it was strange to Erina]
So long as you speak candidly to one another and never go to bed angry, you should be just fine.
no subject
Uhhh. Well, it's been over a year since we first got together and I think we've been living together for... half a year or so now, I think? [Wild, when she thinks about it. Though she's shifting a little, not quite sure if she's comfortable how she's sitting right now.]
Yeah... I can't say 'm real fond of the idea of letting her stay mad for long. [Honestly, she's the outspoken and loudly upset type where she's pretty sure Carly could fucking end her and she wouldn't know that it'd happen if she wanted.] Basically the complete opposite of me, I guess? I dunno.

Jonathan and I are very similar, and we get along in most things, but even when we snip at one another, we make sure to talk it over and clear it up before bed.
