Mikasa Ackerman | Attack on Titan
[Maybe it was a town, maybe it was on of the dirt paths between the city. It didn't matter, Mikasa was walking, staring straight ahead. Hardly blinking, like the small creature she was hugging to her chest. Only the most shellshocked pokemon for the most shellshocked child.
The nine-year-old had no idea what to do, or where to go. So she just kept moving, her head tilting upwards to blink at some of the more... modern things. Even things as simple as the streetlights.
At one point she took a seat, pulling out the PokéGear she'd been given. Tapping at it, promptly dropping it when it burst into music. Scooting away, even as the Espurr stood next to her started dancing.]
Berry bad
[She wasn't a city child. Not like Armin and Eren, when she was younger she'd pick berries to bring them back home for mom. The girl was frowning as she looked at the strawberries? Watching the odd cat pick them and nibble the fruits. Mikasa just watched it for a moment.]
...Is that nice?
[A whisper. And just as quietly the Espurr responded, squeaking and nodding as it offered the girl the berry. Would she eat it though?]
BIG!
[It was... cloud? Slowly walking over, the mass was as large as two adults at least. Mikasa being from the world where titans roamed, ducked against a wall.
It didn't help. Because for one, the creature wasn't even remotely interested in eating anyone. Secondly, the static emitted from the Mareep's wool made Mikasa's long black hair stand on end. Leaving her resembling a porcupine.]
Wildcard
[Any other ideas? Feel free to just comment or send a PM.]
Anywhere??? omg precious childe
[He was probably scowling when he first came upon Mikasa, and I apologize for that in advance. But his expression quickly changed when he noticed the lost-looking child alone on the bench. He had a soft spot for little kids, and he didn't like to see them looking so afraid.]
Hey... [He crouched down on the balls of his feet in front of the girl. When she was this close, she looked strikingly familiar, but that couldn't be anything more than a coincidence, right?] Where're your parents, kid?
I return
She did turn and stare when she realised someone had stopped in front of her. Only peering up at him. Silence. Her chin disappearing into her scarf as she hunched her shoulders.]
...Dead.
[All that silence. For one word... And the Espurr was still boogieing at the other end of the bench.]
no subject
[He thought she said dead, but that couldn't be right. The noise probably caused him to mishear. He tapped the Gear on the bench to get it to stop playing music.]
I'm sorry, say that again?
no subject
They're dead...
no subject
[Okay, so he had heard right. While I mentioned he liked kids, he didn't have a whole lot of experience with them yet. He wasn't yet skilled enough to immediately know what to do when a kid told him their parents were dead.]
Someone's gotta be taking care of you, right?
no subject
...But it wasn't something she could avoid answering completely. If he stuck around he'd realise.]
Not here. [She did have Doctor Grisha and Auntie Carla back home. But she wasn't home, she wasn't sure where she was. Or where they were.]
no subject
[So we're dropping unattended children in here now, Arceus? Really? Jean thought you had a little more class than that.]
Uh. Look. You can't be running around out here alone. That's not good. I know I'm as much of a stranger as anyone else, but... Could you at least tell me your name?

Big!
[Armin had just been returning from a little shopping trip, a paper bag filled with food carried in one arm, when he had noticed the sight of a small girl ducking against a wall, trying to keep out of the way of a rather over-sized Mareep. Not that it seemed like the Mareep had ill intentions; its behaviour is rather placid, scanning the ground for plucks of grass to eat, but at its size, Armin can understand why the small girl would be frightened.]
If you keep moving, I'll give you this, okay? [He reaches into the bag and withdraws a nice and shiny apple. Which he holds up just long enough to catch the big sheep's attention, before he rolls it a bit further down the path, watching the Mareep as he ambles off behind it.]
Are you all right? I'm sure he didn't mean to frighten you. He probably just forgot just how big he is right no--
[Speaking those last words, Armin turns, and finally he's able to properly see the little girl; see and recognise her.]
M-- Mikasa?
no subject
Meanwhile, Mikasa was still huddled against the wall and out of it's way. Her hair on end, the Espurr which had claimed her was just a ball of fuzz. It's wide eyes couldn't be seen. The opposite could be said for Mikasa, without her hair shadowing her face it was easy to see her eyes widen as she stared at the man. The very familiar man. Her head tilting as she hesitated.]
Who are you?
[Man who looks like Armin but knows her name.]
no subject
Explain all of this to her though-- boy that is going to be tough. And does she even know? About what will happen to Shiganshina? Armin can't immediately tell if she is from before or after the wall fell.
He crouches down so they are more on the same eye-level, putting the bag of food down on the ground beside him so he's got his arms free.]
I know this is going to be very hard to believe but... it's me. Armin. I know I must look really old to you, but I swear it's me.
no subject
She kept thinking about it. A small unsure noise slipping out. He'd known her name but...]
...Who is your other friend? [Firmly. Foolproof plan. He knew her name, but would he know Eren's name? What a challenge.]
no subject
[And, because he worries that might not be enough --who didn't know the three of them were like peas in a pod?-- he adds:]
You are always the one who bails me out when I get bullied. Eren tries too, but usually, he just ends up getting beaten up as well. They don't flee until they see you coming.
When it is just the three of us, Eren and I usually read my grandpa's book, the one with stories about the outside world. We want to visit all those places one day. You are usually the one reminding us that it is dangerous. Sometimes Eren challenges us to races to the tree. He's always the one who takes off first. You could easily beat him, but you always let him win. I never win, but I don't mind, really.
[His voice becomes a bit softer, more serious rather than the fondly reminiscent tone of just now.]
I know about what happened on the mountain too. With your parents and with Eren. I know about your scarf. And I know about the mark on your arm. Your mom told you not to show anyone, but you did eventually show Eren who convinced you to show me.
no subject
Everything was right.
That was what made her frown deepen as he moved on to her parents. Her scarf, the mark. These were not topics everyone knew, it was enough to confirm his identity. But it was also enough to make her pull her scarf up over her mouth. Not even looking at him.]
no subject
[Oh he wants to hug her so badly, but even if she has accepted he is Armin, would she be open to that? He doesn't want to come across as old and weird and creepy, but it has been so long since he saw her-- since he saw any version of Mikasa.]

Anywhere
So, she walks up and picks up the PokeGear, tapping it and stopping the music before kneeling down in front of Mikasa. ]
Hey, is everything alright...?
Re: Anywhere
...Just ignore the scowling Espurr whose party had been halted.
Mikasa just nodded.]
Yeah... It was loud. [Just a sudden loud noise that had made her jump.]
no subject
It can be pretty loud, huh? I'm Yuzu, by the way.
no subject
Mikasa. [The most basic of intros.] Why was it so loud?
berry bad, berry late
Mikasa! Look what I found!
[ blueberries!!!!! ]
Re: berry bad, berry late
There's so many... [She crouched, going down to the small cat's level and taking the offered fruit. Looking at it. Sniffing it, it smelled sweet. Her eyes closing too, in an almost smile.] We can make berry bread. [It wasn't raisin bread, but close enough.
And with that she nibbled on the berry, not even caring that it already had a cat sized bite missing out of it. Much to the delight of Espurr. Then she chewed, her eyes opening to squint...wait.]
no subject
[ rude! look at all these orans and not a single pecha for him! while torchic’s busy pecking at her berry (and pretending that espurr cares too much), eren holds a tiny hand out to get a possible third bite in. ]
no subject
She couldn't spare him. All she could do was stand there, mouth slightly agape, as though that would let the heat escape. She couldn't form the words to warn him. Everything is suffering.]
no subject
all the life is sapped out of him the second the ghost spice tickles his tongue, then inside the mouth, then lips—
he holds in the first choke and attempts to swallow how bad it actually is. then, he can’t stop the reflex. he gags, and unfortunately coughing the rest out doesn’t make the sheer burning go away. ]
no subject
... A more muted reaction than Eren's. But it spoke volumes coming from her.
The little cat pokemon just mewled up at them, his eyes watching the berry mush. While Mikasa tried to scrape the flavor off her tongue with her teeth. It wasn't helping.
This was just the rest of their day. Crying in the woods over berries. This was a mistake.]
