Oh, that's not good. "Are you all right?"

"No!" Maria wails. "I lost Emporio and Mount Moon! And now I don't know where I am!"

[fearinahandfulof]

Oh. "That's because it's a weird weekend, I think. During a weird weekend, leaving one area moves you randomly to another one." Which doesn't really solve the problem, but Cassandra at least hopes the information is helpful.

She pauses. "You could probably use the PokeGear to talk to him even if he's not here physically? That way you'd at least know where he is."

"... uu," Maria says, frowning a bit. She's still crying, but not as hard. "Do you think that would really work?" she asks. "Why do weird weekends happen? I don't like them now!"

"If he's not moving around, it should. It's just that getting back to a place can be tricky because it's all random right now.

"And I'm not sure why they happen. I'm not sure if anyone knows." The expression on Cassandra's face makes it fairly clear she doesn't like them either.

"They're dumb," Maria says. "All we wanted to do was see if Vine could float like a giant peach with all of us on and then we floated up and Emporio was gone. And we were being careful!"

"I think it was just bad timing, especially if no one told you about weird weekends before. I only know generally when they happen, but predicting them to the day is hard.

"Vine is your Pumpkaboo?"

Maria nods. "After the demon from the Ars Goetia," she explains, through sniffles. "He's a king and an earl."

Cassandra blinks. "Ars... Goetia?"

[happyhalloween]

"It's a book about magic," Maria explains, seriously. "Part of the Lesser Key of Solomon. I dunno what happened to the greater key."

At least explaining about magic stuff is distracting her from crying.

That's good, if terribly confusing to Cassandra. "Keys of... Solomon?"

"It's about demons," Maria explains. "Beato's got Furniture from it. Ronove and Gaap and Zepar and Furfur!"

Which of course only confuses things further.

Demons she sort of understands. In theory. However... "Furniture?"

"A witch's servants," Maria explains, as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

Cassandra does in theory know what witches are, although she's not sure what they are for Maria. "Why are they called Furniture?" Because that seems like a terrible thing to call a person.

"Uu," Maria says. "I dunno."

Which isn't very helpful.

[fearinahandfulof]

Not really, no, but that's not really Maria's fault - if she was raised to hear them called that, it might not have occurred to her to ask. "Do they... mind being called that?"

"Uu," Maria says, frowning. She's not actually sure.

Cassandra thinks that might have been an unfair question to ask. "Are witches treated well where you come from?"

[happyhalloween]

"Sometimes," Maria says. "And sometimes people are dumb like Battler and try to deny we exist!"

[fearinahandfulof]

Cassandra blinks again. "Battler?"

[happyhalloween]

"My dumb cousin," Maria explains. "He's kind but incompetent and he likes bosoms."

[fearinahandfulof]

...That might possibly be too much information. She's just going to focus on the first aspect that bothers her, which is: "They named him Battler?"

"Grandfather likes names that are in English," Maria explains.

[fearinahandfulof]

Unfortunately, Cassandra doesn't really know what English is. "That's... a language?"
