Who: Team 5: Claude, Armin, Mari and Shoto
Where: Mainly the Library, any other movement will be along the line of their questing as time progresses depending.
When: During LS event.
Summary: Sometimes you just gotta talk about info, meet strangers and get flown all the hell over creation because of reasons.
Rating: Likely appropriate for general consumption.
Log: After a small meet and greet over the network once Shoto had received the names, they had quickly decided it was easier if they all met. Logistics of getting to the two trainers who were a little earlier into their journey found Claude and Armin having to go out of their way in order to help garner this meeting, but none the less all four had found their way to a common ground city. Deciding, at Armin's behest, that they should take to the library and discuss what course of action to continue on, the four people from team five were doing just that, beginning their discussions despite along day behind, and likely ahead of them for this research. Having a book or two around itself helpful, of course, and was proving a true statement in itself. What better place to learn than the library?
Luckily (?) for them, their information holder and reporter was an easy one to get along with and mostly listened to what was being said. Not only did he not hold the foundation of the knowledge the others did, or at least his perspective, but the topic itself interested him in more ways than just wanting to learn. This was the world they lived in and this sort of event didn't seem to be so common among its land if researchers were reaching out to their general public, allowing all levels of intellect and study into it. Study as per what Shoto was doing at the current time of their meeting, studying he could do. Research and reading? He could do that, too. Listening and theories? Someone was going to end up as someone else's conspiracy at least once. Probably not once. Maybe once.
Okay. Definitely at least a singular conspiracy- just not the flat one. "There's definite imagery being painted by the riddle. It's likely something particularly obvious and at the same time not at all. Is there anything you see in the riddle that might point to a direction at least?"

Really, the long flight had had one major advantage and that was that Armin had had several hours during which he could let his brain mull over the riddle they had been given. He didn't have a solution yet, but he certainly had some Thoughts.
"This part--" he indicates the last two lines in the first stanza, "--talks about three pokemon who are summoned by the sound of bells. So I think we should look into pokemon that have some relation to bells, or tales related to that."

She has already taken a quick sweep of the library and seized a few reference books, most of which she's hefted up onto the table, although she has one opened in her lap and another in her hands, her ankles crossed and bag slung over her chair. She turns some pages in response to Armin's suggestion, but--
"Oh, are bells culturally significant? I was thinking there's an awful lot of numerology packed into these verses. That's going to be harder to research on its own, especially since an awful lot of these 'legendaries' come in threes--I noticed that when I was looking into the subject before I signed on. And nine is a multiple of three... that almost makes sense, but I don't understand what this two of nine equalling eighteen means?"
SORRY FOR TAKING SO LONG I had to rewrite my original tag
He leans over to tap the paper in the center of the table, on which their riddle is written.
One to awaken, one to rest
Two of nine is eighteen
Three days, three powers, three Pokémon
Four knells to herald their arrival
Knowledge passed from old to young
Guarding the end of the rainbow
Ascend the nine and find
This key to the Temple’s treasure
"Now, the numbers don't all make sense to me right away either. But one thing that's pretty hard to argue with is that the word 'knell' has to be tied to bells in some way - I can't think of anything else it could apply to. And I don't know about bells being culturally significant, but what I do know is that Johto has a bell tower. It's in Ecruteak...a couple of my boyfriends explored the burned tower next to it a little during the time we were there, actually."
He finally finds the right page in his book, setting it down on the table and sliding it forward, open to the relevant page. "And as I recall, it's got some associations with a legendary pokémon. So rather than trying to narrow down which legendary trio those three pokémon in the riddle might be, why don't we start with looking at the Bell Tower? I think it's the first thing that'd come to anyone's mind if they were thinking about bells in Johto...and if these riddles are hints to a puzzle the author wanted people to be able to solve, I don't think they'd want to go too obscure. They'd go for information they felt they could count on your average Johto resident having who knows how many years later, wouldn't they? So hints based around landmarks or culturally significant structures would be perfect."
No sorries ♥ you're fine!!
Regardless, what material there had been drug over wasn't exactly helping, but the more that he heard the more he could at least look for the information. Specifically where legendaries were involved. A crash course in a book in front of him wasn't helping, but he was learning and had information being told by three much more informed, in his opinion, smarter people right to him.
"A tower makes sense. The number nine is mentioned twice, along with an ascension. Going up could only be something with multiple levels, or multiple floors. I haven't been to that city, but I'm assuming either one of you have been?" Alright so not entirely useless, but agreeing was at least the truth. What had been said made sense.

The first time he visited, he had been far too intrigued by everything to note the number of floors, and the last time he went that way was when Suicune was in trouble. At which point, he had a little bit too much on his mind to think about floors.
"But there isn't just the Bell Tower in Ecruteak. I mean, there is now, but there used to be two towers. The other one burned down over a century ago. Which could--" And here Armin leans over to underline the two of nine, "- be what they are referencing here."
He glances at the books they've already got gathered at the table, but he doesn't see one that would answer these questions. "We should check and see if they have a book on the Bell tower. Or Ecruteak City history."
