The Legendary Seekers and the.... still lost temple?
The air buzzes with excitement as the Legendary Seekers stride into the Alternating Cave, arms full of the objects gathered by various teams. They place them in a very solemn manner on the recovered altar under the eyes of everybody who helped solve the riddles (and anyone who is just curious enough to come check it out).
They hold for a moment before placing the last object, allowing the tension to rise, before the ash collected from Cinnebar joins the collection and--
Nothing happens.
The next hour sees the Legendary Seekers frantically removing and replacing the items (Maybe it needs to be in a certain order? A certain position??) but nothing seems to be working. The promised temple remains very much lost, and really, maybe you shouldn't get your prophecies from Hiker Craig's List.
~~***~~
Hours later, it starts with a small tremor. Something deep underneath the water's surface shifts, and suddenly the seas are eerily quiet. There is no cry of a wingull, nor the barking call of a Seel. It's as if they have all vanished. Deep below, a large shadow shifts, and grows large and large. The tremors continue in strength until the sea is frothing and then slowly the Lost Temple breaks through the water, rising through mechanisms unknown.
It rises off the shore of the Alternating Cave, a path connecting the two islands rising with it. By the time dawn breaks, the temple has fully risen and in the early morning light, the temple gleams; the rays of the sun bringing out the faint pink hue of its opalescent walls.
The structure itself can best be described as a helical dome, wide at the base and growing smaller towards the top. Thin spires tower upwards from the dome, some short and some almost perilously tall. With their slightly rough and bumpy contours, and the way they twist and spiral as they climb upwards, you get the impression not of something consciously built by human hands, but rather of something almost organic, something that grew from the dome itself.
A second look at the spires shows that most of them are open-ended and many have various other holes along their lengths, the purpose of which becomes very clear when a light sea-breeze brushes past them. A light, slightly haunting sound starts to drift from the spires, caught somewhere between the clear sound of a flute and the slightly breathy noise of a whistle. It’s certainly an odd noise, unlike anything you have ever heard before, but you notice that the ocean pokemon, at least, seem rather fond of it, many of them drawn towards the temple.
Now just from a first glance, you might mistake the temple for being rather small. It’s true that the odd coronet of spires gives it some height, but size-wise it is very far from the biggest building you have ever seen.
That is until you glance down at the water’s surface and through the clear blue waters spot a structure that vastly dwarves the section of temple visible above-ground. The odd dome and its spires are very literally only the tip of the iceberg with most of the temple existing beneath the water’s surface.
Taken on the whole, the temple seems to have an almost tear-drop shape, tapering down into a long and narrow trail that reaches deep into the water. From here, you cannot even see just how far down it goes, but you get a strong feeling that it’s not only deep, it’s also open to the ocean itself, allowing water to spill into the temple.

Inside, the temple is bright and airy, and the large, dome-shaped atrium is filled with both the sounds of running water and the odd, whistling song created by the temple’s spires.
Most of the temple’s floor is dominated by large circular basins of water, set at varying heights, with water lazily cascading between one and the next. The basins themselves seem to be made of the same material the temple itself is, many of them inlaid with beautiful shells. The waters of the basins are filled with various bright, aquatic species of plants and even corals. Small Krabbies and Horsea dart between the plants and corals, staring curiously at these humans visiting their long-hidden domain.
A path that that meanders between the various basins leads one to what appears to be some sort of inner sanctuary of the temple, however large doors bar entry to anyone. And no matter what one tries, whether it is feats of strength or intelligence, the doors remain tightly shut. The doors are completely smooth, not a keyhole or even a handle in sight, but in front of them, there is a large hole in the floor. The smooth edges of the hole and its narrow depth give you the impression that this is no damage done to the building by the passing of time, but rather that something had once been inlaid in this floor and is now missing.
The final thing you can see inside the temple is a stone staircase set to the side that seems to lead to the lower sections of the temple.
~~***~~
After some conferring among themselves, inspecting the temple dome top to bottom, and taking a very cursory glance down the stairs ("I can't go down there, man. There might be spiders."), the Legendary Seekers return with an announcement.
"So. We got into the temple. That's awesome guys. Really great."
"We are so proud of you guys," adds Trent, and his eyes seem to be shining rather a lot. "When we gave you the riddles, we weren't sure if you were gonna be able to pull it off, but you did and--"
"Right. Yes. Very Proud." Jackson quickly cuts in. "But it looks like we got a little more work to do. We got into the temple, and that's great, but we are pretty sure that whatever mankind's greatest treasure is is behind that--" and he sweeps a hand towards the large and very unmoveable doors of the inner sanctuary, "--door and to get to it, we are pretty sure we are going to have to find whatever is supposed to go into that opening in the floor, which we think must be in the lower parts of the temple. We found this just now, and we think many more pieces like it must be scattered in the rest of this temple."
Jackson holds up, what seems to be a small section of a stone slab. There are markings on the front that look like they may be part of either lettering or some sort of intricate line drawing.

Before Jackson can say anything more, Grant cuts in and oh dear Arceus, where did he find that Indiana Johto hat? Was it on his person this entire time?
"It's time to get exploring, y'all."
