First step
Who: Mikasa Ackerman and ??
Where: Route 29 and Cherrygrove City
When: Second half of August
Summary: Just a new trainer setting off
Rating: E for everyone
Log:
A. Runaway - Route 29
[This place again... Being in New Bark Town itself wasn't that bad. Other than the strange lady who'd been calling herself Mikasa's mother. Something Mikasa knew wasn't right. So she'd bolted, taking her bag and new pokemon with her. She'd headed off to Cherrygrove City.
Apparently, the route was an almost straight line. It seemed easy enough to follow. Even with all the distractions, the Pawniard kept pausing to look and point it's bladed hands at passing wild pokemon. Waiting for the command, though Mikasa just shook her head. Declining the fight.
Only for a...pink cat? To drift out of a tree and bounce off of both Mikasa and new companion's heads. The dandelion mon was light it just floated off afterwards. Mikasa wasn't bothered, but the Pawniard. So offended. She gave a little hiss, raising her blade hands and darted off in chase, swiping at everything in her path.
Oh...That wasn't good.]
B. First day on the job - Cherrygrove
[Mikasa had never worked before. Not like this. She'd done chores like collect the firewood, clean, catch caterpillars in the vegetable patch. But this was different, very different. She'd be getting paid and they'd even given her a little cap and apron to show she worked there.
And she was determined to do a good job. So there she was, the most serious little nursing assistant.
Even if her only duties, for the time being, was refilling water and food bowls for patients. Bringing bandages when asked. But she was a diligent little worker, quickly scurrying around taller patrons' legs and darting around the pokemon center.
She was helping.]
C. Close-knit friends - Cherrygrove
[There were a lot of new things here... Food, drinks, machines. Mikasa didn't know what 99% of it was, how it worked or why it existed. So she'd just ignored it and gone about her day.
It left her new pay packet relatively untouched. The girl had only spent what she needed to, with one exception. While wandering around the city she found a little haberdashery shop. It sold a myriad of textiles in all different shades. For a good few moments, Mikasa just stared blankly, her hand reaching up to pet a particularly fuzzy fleece.
She was so enamored that she didn't even notice the own giggling behind the counter.
Eventually, after much petting and prodding, she'd found something familiar. Yarn! Granted, it was a soft pastel green, a shade Mikasa had never seen wool come in, like freshly sprouted plants.
Armed with her skein and a set of knitting needles she sat on a bench and got to work. Her Pawniard dutifully sat next to her, the ball of yarn in her lap. The little pokemon scowled up at anyone who neared. No, she didn't know what Boss was doing but that didn't matter. She'd keep guard. Though after an hour, Mikasa stopped knitting, even if she didn't cast-off her needles yet. She wasn't sure if she was done yet. So she held up a scrap of fabric, loosely wrapping it around the pokemon's neck. Checking it was long enough...]
"The lady said you're weak to cold..."
[Ah yes, that's how type effectiveness worked.]

the pawniard could scowl all she want, sandalphon is unwavering. ]
I think you've got it mixed up, little one. The lady meant that if your friend were to be hit by ice attacks, they'd get hurt a lot more than another pokémon would. But that's not to say that you couldn't give your friend a scarf.
[ it was secretly cute. not that he was going to admit it. ]
no subject
Mikasa joined her pokemon in frowning up at the man, for different reasons. Then she wilted. In response, the Pawniard bristled, lifting their knife hands.]
So this won't help...[But Mikasa looked up again, blinking.] Does that mean they'll get hurt if it snows too?
no subject
I don't believe the weather will affect it, but the scarf should definitely protect it in case it does. [ he doesn't know much about pokémon either so he doesn't want to say any definite, just in case she gets any ideas. ]
But from the looks of it, I don't think you have to worry about your friend there.
no subject
...Though she did doubt that weather wouldn't affect them. Most of the Pokemon she'd seen had just been animals, strange animals. Even if her's seemed to be made of metal. Not that it mattered too much for a fight because-]
The lady said I should go out and train it for gyms... But I'm okay working here.
[Behold the least ambitious trainer. Mikasa was fine with a simple existence working. Though the Pawniard did hang their head, they wanted to stab.]
no subject
maybe it was the prison sentence. maybe it was the need to know how everything works. but sandalphon knew what he wanted, and he shouldn't force it onto others. but also... ]
Why do you not want to try the gyms? I see it as a good thing for the pokémon.
no subject
To her credit though, she did listen. Even if she didn't think much about it.]
Won't they get hurt? [Though her one was... maybe a little too into the idea of fighting. Mikasa wasn't sure. But it'd rushed off to harass the local wildlife enough times. It reminded her of someone... But she kept peering up.]
no subject
[ and noting just how much her pokémon was glaring at him earlier, something told him that she should at least try. if only for its sake. ]
no subject
I don't get it... Why do they like them fighting so much? [This place was so weird, she couldn't help frowning up at him.]
no subject
[ gabriel, sandalphon's milcery, makes its merry way over to the girl and the pawniard, happy to make friends with a happy coo. ]
no subject
[Given it was trying to stab the friendly.]
no subject
he's watching you, pawniard. ]
Which is why I believe Gyms may help. If they're too tired to act, then maybe it'll try to hurt you and others less.
no subject
So I should make it fight other ones that want to fight?
no subject
no subject
So I just have to find people who want their animals to fight? [Then let her one free. Sounded easy enough.]
no subject
[ but hey, the basics is better than nothing. ] But if you plan on travelling, then no one will let you into a routes without a Pokémon.
no subject
What do the people without pokemon do? [Were they just trapped in town.]
no subject
but that second statement made him think. ] I believe they simply hire those who do have pokémon, yes. Trapped is a good word to use here, too.
no subject
She lifted her head, tilting it at him.] Do you travel a lot Mister..?
no subject
[ that question makes him stop for a second, but it was unnoticeable aside from his eyebrows raising just a tad. ] I've travelled to many places, yes. This is just a new place to see.
no subject
...Is it the weirdest place? [People are nice here???]
no subject
On the contrary, it's quite interesting. [ his mouth showed a sliver of a smile. ] These creatures are quite entertaining to watch.
no subject
[Nature. It really be like that.]
B. First day on the job - Cherrygrove
Except, without seeing them face to face. She finds the young one walking about, watching as she attempted to help those that she could. Inevitably after some time, she breaks her silence. The awkward woman who seemed to stand there, frigid alike ice. Finally moves toward the girl, offering the bouquet of flowers.]
... Can you give this... To the man... Who was injured by another person....
no subject
She only stopped and paid attention when the woman spoke. A determined frown creeping onto her face, then she gave a silent nod. Reaching up to hug the bouquet and scurrying down the hall.
...Only to return less than a minute later, her face still set in that grim frown.]
There's more than one.
