Summary: Rainer has Pokemon that need evolvin', but first, she needs to get/do the things they need to evolve!

Rainer is a woman on a mission. And that mission is, to evolve as many of her Pokemon that she can before she starts taking on gyms in earnest. That's easy enough for most of her 'mons... just keep training them until they gain enough levels. But other Pokemon are a bit more particular, leading Rainer to consult the available literature and study up to learn exactly what she needs in order for her beloved friends to grow up to their next forms!

shopping:

Rainer goes to the busiest shopping center in town, one that advertises all sorts of items for your Pokemon to hold in order to get them to evolve. The three items she's looking for all seem to be sold in different places. She has to walk all over the largest department store in order to find the Dusk Stone and Reaper's Cloth she needs for Buttercup and Dusky, respectively, asking for help from various store staff and customers alike as she goes. Then, she has to go across town to a little out-of-the-way antiques shop to find a Chipped Pot she can use for Boolong.

The antique shop's prices are a little high for her tastes, and she does wonder aloud, "Do you think I can just get my own, normal teapot and chip it myself? You would think that a chipped pot would be less expensive than an unchipped one..."

Now that Buttercup and Boolong are taken care of, she can move on to the next phase of the plan. Rainer sets up shop on the busiest street corner in Goldenrod and starts calling out like a carnival barker, "Trades, get your trades here!"

Should anyone come closer, Rainer will elaborate, "Okay, so I don't actually want to trade away any of my Pokemon, but I'll pay you P500 if you let me trade you a Pokemon then you trade it back to me."

Sorry, folks. She's just way too attached to Trent and Magic 8-Ball... And of course, how could she ever give away Dusky, her beloved starter!?

Sometimes, the only way to evolve a Pokemon is by kicking boatloads of ass. Rainer is determined to let her Galarian Farfetch'd, Buckminster (named after a beloved fighter class friend from home), live his grandest knightly dreams. But in order to do that, he needs to land three critical attacks in one battle. Even if Rainer rolls really well has Lady Luck on her side, that might be a difficult feat. Can Buckminster really land so many crits?

The only way to find out, though, is to go for it.

The lake on Route 35 is nice and peaceful, except for the one spot by the shore where Rainer is posted up with her steadfast duck friend, challenging every comer to a battle.

"Hey, you!!" She calls out, rather aggressively, before smiling and toning down her voice. "Sorry, hi. Do you mind battling me real quick? I need someone to go up against my Farfetch'd, 1-v-1. Thanks!"

The last of Rainer's needy Pokemon to evolve is sweet little Evie the eevee, her lucky little girl who has been cuddly as heck ever since Rainer caught her at the end of July. Evie has an impish spirit, and is constantly playing games with Rainer's other Pokemon whenever she's out of her ball. The same is true when Evie turns into a Sylveon! If anything, it gets worse because now she has the ability Cute Charm, which causes unsuspecting Pokemon to fall in love with her via the slightest touch. And of course, Evie's reaching out with her ribbon feelers to touch as many Pokemon as possible.

If your Pokemon becomes Infatuated and falls under Evie's spell, Rainer will offer a sad smile, a shrug, and a genuine apology.

"I'm sorry, she's just like that. Really, I'm not sure what they all see in her. Like yeah, she's cute AF, but... I dunno. Flesh ribbons are kind of creepy, don't you think?"

[Ochako only just arrived to Goldenrod maybe a day or two ago, and while Eri's being tended to by one of the Daycares (child, not Pokemon) there while Ochako can actually do her training and light exploration, she really hasn't gone too far out. It feels like she just stepped out onto the route past Goldenrod with Parfait the Clefable walking along beside her. The massive, pink fairy is much too big now for Ochako to carry, so they enjoy these pleasant strolls together when they explore.

It's not until they're hailed down that Ochako turns to see who is challenging her to a battle. Because any time she's hailed by someone in this world...it's usually to fight. But oh!! She knows this person!]

Rainer-san!! Hi! [She is beaming, hurrying over and looking pleased to finally meet the older woman face to face again after so long.] Oh, of course I can help with that! Eh...Parfait-chan is a bit strong though, um...is that okay? I can use another one, but I only brought a few with me for my walk.

[The others are kind of just resting, or lent out to Eri in case of an emergency while Ochako's not there. Parfait is Ochako's highest though, at a whopping level 60.]

Ochako, hey! [ So far, the only people who have taken Rainer up on her offer of a battle are have been a bunch of strangers. It's nice to see a friendly face. ] Long time no see, how are you?

[ Buckminster however, nudges Rainer with his leek, reminding her of his presence with a gruff little, "Far!" She laughs, looking down at the little duck. ]

Mm, Well Parfait might be a bit of a challenge for Buckminster, but I'm pretty sure he's not going to back down even if I want him to.

[ Buckminster shakes his head no, glaring daggers at Ochako's Clefable, and proving Rainer's point to the letter. ]

Ehehe, it has been a while, hasn't it? Guess we've both been busy, ne? Are you staying around Goldenrod?

[That's Ochako's plan, anyway. Train up, take on the gym, then hole up in Goldenrod for a while and grind up some cash a'la catching a Meowth and maybe getting a job somewhere. It's not easy looking after so many Pokemon...as well as little Eri, and money is tight. The gym winnings can only sustain them for so long.

But she's not going to think about that right now. In fact, Ochako is crouching down to get a good look at the Galarian Farfetch'd - considering it's a species she's never seen before. How cool!! It looks like some kind of super jacked up bird. Is...i-is that a leek its carrying? Mmm...potato and leek soup would be so tasty tonight...ah.]

Well, if you're both sure... I'm sorry, but we won't hold back, either. Parfait-chan, are you alright to fight today?

[She's been sidelined for a bit, taking a little break from training while Ochako's other teammates grinded like crazy for various gyms. The Clefable smiles and taps her hands together with a flutter of her pink wings, looking at the Farfetch'd with an equally pleasant smile.

Bruh, she has fought Basement Cat singlehandedly when she was a just tiny baby Cleffa, you need to up your game.]

[ Awesome, looks like Parfait is on board. Rainer knows this fight is likely going to be a challenge for Buckminster, shooting so high above his weight class, as it were-- especially since he's weak to fairy type moves-- but the 'jacked up bird' looks like he's up for it! ]

Great! Let's give it our all, then. Buckminster, let's get this party started, huh? Lower their defenses!

[ The Farfetch'd levels a scathing glare at Ochako's Clefable and uses Leer! It's one of the few moves he's got that Parfait's not resistant to, so it's a good enough start to the battle for now. ]

[Lucky for Buckminster that the stipulation for evolution is simply that he get 3 critical hits in a battle, not that he actually win said battle. With a sturdy pokemon like Clefable, that shouldn't be an issue at all, though the fight might a lengthy one indeed, if Parfait goes on the offensive.

Thankfully, since this is just a little training, and to help a friend's Pokemon, Ochako doesn't seem to be too focused on beating the poor duck up with her type advantage and high level.]

Well, if that's how to want to play then...Parfait-chan, show them your Charm!

[And Parfait coos cutely, bouncing up and down on her feet before blowing a few little kisses towards the Farfetch'd greatly lowering his attack stat! An eye for an eye!]
