Arrival/January Catch-All!
Who: Crookedkit and YOU!
Where: Early Kanto locations and maybe beyond!
When: January 10 - January 31
What: Crookedkit is here! And not a cat this time! There will be tears, excitement, exploring, battling! Yet another unattended child has been unleashed on Kanto!
Warnings: Ableism-driven familial abuse and abandonment will likely come up, stay safe! ♡
I. Walk, run, jump!
When Crookedkit first found himself back in this bizarre place, this time in the care of a confused Twoleg that at first seemed very small to him, he was more than a little distraught. "Mom" (Really, why does everyone want to be his mother?? He has Rainflower!) did, however, do a frustratingly good job of calming him down before giving him the boot back out into a similarly frustrating outdoors. Even better, she was apparently patient enough to give him time to figure out that yes, Crookedkit is a Twoleg now, and that yes, he will need to walk on those legs.
So while he's definitely not great at it just yet, Crookedkit is confident enough to head out on his own on his own new feet. He still has that dumb loach with him, too, which is now blissfully easier to haul around. He tried using his teeth like last time, but for some reason she tasted very bad when he did that, so instead she's hitching a limp ride on his bare shoulder as he scurries off into the wild.
What he's doing is, well...what is he doing? Scaring off all the pokemon, for one, and just generally throwing himself around with the seemingly limitless energy only a kitten can. What Crookedkit is actually doing is getting used to his new scale and his new body, but even he doesn't really know that. All he knows is he's never been able to move so fast before!
II. I challenge you!
It takes some time, but Crookedkit does eventually reach a point of being able to battle like a proper Trainer. First he has to pick up some more eager teammates than sleepy Barboach, which takes considerably longer than expected. After all, if he's going to be a great Trainer, he needs great Pokemon, right? So he spends a considerable amount of time on his own, skulking around in the woods in search of the bravest, fastest, and most clever pokemon he can find. After a few days, though, he's ready, armed with two new apprentices of his own choosing: Frecklepaw the Skwovet and his star pupil, Notchpaw.
And once he's ready? Well, there's only one thing to do: challenge anyone and everyone he sets his sights on!! He doesn't want money, he doesn't want experience, he just wants to test the results of his efforts! Will you battle him?
...Do you think you can get away if you refuse?
III. Wild!
Crookedkit is here!! For the entirety of January he'll be working his way up to his first Gym Badge, befriending and challenging everyone he meets in equal amounts and getting acquainted with his new reality. Being a kitten-turned-human he has a lot to learn (including what money is and why he needs it, and also literally anything to do with computers) and is going to need to make a lot of new connections! Feel free to toss some ideas to me over at
cloverborn or to tag in with your own prompt; I'll be plotting myself too of course!

And, in fact... ]
Did... did you catch those Pokémon with your bare hands?
I'm frankly impressed if so.
no subject
[ That's beside the point anyway. The Rattata on his shoulder is tense all the way through, just waiting for battle. Crookedkit is a bit more level-headed about it, but not by very much. ]
[ There's no small amount of suspicion at Lucilius's question, though... ]
Did you capture yours?
no subject
[ he smiles. ]
To have acquired your Pokémon simply by befriending them, when countless others here insist that they must be captured... it's nice to see.
[ Million paws at his leg anxiously, glancing towards the young boy. ]
Now, my friend here isn't particularly fond of battle, but she seems to want to prove herself. So, if you would?
no subject
[ Crookedkit's caution practically melts away, as much as it can in this cold, anyway. ]
It's how it should be done! [ He huffs his insistence. ]
[ ...Though that bravado is broken quickly enough by the challenge he's been waiting for, and what replaces it is genuine delight. ]
Yes!! We need to prove ourselves too, righ-ah!!
[ Notchpaw is apparently NOT waiting around for any more formalities. The spunky green Rattata is quick to fling himself from his trainer's shoulder and stand on his hindpaws before Lucilius with remarkable ferocity. ]
Ta!! [ He pantomimes a proper tough-guy spit. ]
Y-Yeah!! [ Crookedkit totally planned this, yep. ] Are you ready, Twoleg?
Pewter Gym! Closed to Chip
He's ready, right? His teammates are ready? Notchpaw has been so brave, and Frecklepaw is catching up, after all. Barboach hasn't been very helpful yet, but he's done fine with just the two 'paws anyway, right?
Deep breaths. Just march right in there and...huh?
