[The camera feed begins pointed at the ceiling. There’s a voice muttering to one side, the occasional flash of color, then a peering eye. This is followed by a startled yelp and a LOT of color as the PokeGear is flung around. Thankfully that only lasts a heartbeat before it’s caught and finally focuses on a young man with shaggy pink hair; those who would recognize the ferry from Johto to Kanto will notice it as his location. He inspects the screen, then sits back in triumph.]

Ha! I got it working!

[From somewhere off-screen behind him comes a distressed whine, “Ohh, just turn it off Gobo, it’s bad news!” This gets nothing more than an annoyed eyeroll.]

It’s fine, Boober. [Brief glare to one side, then he’s back.] Um. Hi! I guess. This is probably working… Sorry, this kinda- stuff is pretty new to me.

[“It’s new and strange and bad...” comes the worried voice again. Now another young man, this one with a hat pulled so low over his face it’s a wonder he can even see, is pacing agitatedly in the background. Gobo is none too enthused about this.]

So, my name's Gobo Fraggle and this- [A wave behind him] -is my friend Boober. And I’ve been seeing, uh, others? Use this thing to ask questions and I wanted to ask-

[Gobo is briefly interrupted by Boober’s complaining again, about oh how this ship was going to sink and they were all going to die and showing up in a weird world like this was a bad omen and-]

…does anyone have any headache remedies? Normally the Fraggle I ask about this kinda thing- [And another glare Boober’s way, who’s so busy with his moaning he doesn’t even notice] -is too busy with other problems. -Boober would ya sit down, eh? You’re gonna make me seasick.

[Well THAT was the wrong thing to say. Because now Boober is on and on and ON about how they’re going to catch a cold, about all the strange germs and diseases that’re up here, how the ferry was a bad idea and so much water was a bad idea and-

Gobo just groans, sinks his head into his arms and dispiritedly shuts off the feed.]

Greetings from Johto. Paul Atreides. Glad to hear you got your PokéGear working, they're useful, if on the complicated side. It took a little work from me, too.

[The Fraggle is greeted by a slight young man with curly brown hair, who eyes him curiously. After introducing himself, Paul decides to move on to business. For his part, he's visibly leaning against a wooden Route sign, his Trapinch accompanying him.]

You know...your friend's right to be a little nervous. This isn't the world either of us are used to, and it probably isn't free of danger. But he does seem a little over-excitable.

[Paul's on the cautious side himself, which is why he's been training his Pokémon diligently on-route. It's not seasickness he's particularly afraid of, though.]

Maybe you can see the captain for help? I don't know if any of these berries help with headaches, and I wouldn't eat something strange until you know what it does. Humans as much as Pokémon.

Ahh, well, if you're on a boat, your best bet's probably gonna be to ask some of the other people on board if they've got anything that could help.

[Ryner doesn't really take ferries often, settled as he is, but in his experience there's unlikely to be any sort of actual shop onboard, so appealing to people's charity is likely the best option, right?]

Headaches are common enough that someone'll have some medicine that people can use, and they might be willing to help you out if you ask nicely.

[ Oh dear. She knows that she can get a big negative sometimes, but she's never quite heard it that bad before. ]

Is..your friend all right? And is it...a regular headache, or partly seasickness, or...?

Have you tried drinking coffee? Cause that is what helps when I have a headache.

[Please note, any and all of Riz's headaches are either the result of his chronic insomniac or the fact that his blood is at any given point at least 50% coffee.]

I'll see if I can find the captain, maybe he'll know what I can do about the headache.

Yeah, usually whenever I get headaches I'm just given some kinda little... flower-thing to eat. [Weak laugh] But I doubt we're gonna get that on a boat.

[By the light sink into one hand, his headache source may get explained then, no matter what he says now.]

And I guess it's kinda behind my eyes? Like right here. [And he taps his temple.]

[His response is simple enough, but that blank look on his face is evidence enough it's an honest question, rather than sarcasm or anything of the sort.]

Always works for me. I guess you could also try aspirin if you got any.

I guess that'd be one of the things others are telling me to ask around about, huh? Because honestly, I don't know what that is.

A flower, huh. You're more likely to find medicine in pill form, on a boat like that. There might be an herbal medicine shop in town, but you'll want to make sure it's safe for people. Pokemon medicine usually isn't...

[Paul's used to danger in his world, so he might be a little paranoid.]

Every world has problems. People who take advantage of others. You shouldn't be like your friend and worry about everything, but it's good to be careful. I don't know too much about Team Rocket, but I know you need to look out for them, and there's probably other people too.

[He decides to move to a somewhat more cheery topic.]

Seeing the captain might help. That's what I'd do.

They might call it something different where you are from. It's a kind of pill that'll take away your pain. Or make it more bearable. Got anything like that where you are from?

[Boober has been wary about handling his Pokegear, but from Gobo having his out he overhears someone saying he's right-- That gets him to pull the device out.]

Thank you! Ugh. It's just good sense to be cautious in a strange, new situation!

[He shakes his head with an exasperated shy.]

Maybe you'll be able to talk sense into him, Paul. I sure hope so.

Oh, I have a lot of questions about medicine here. So far I've really just seen those sprays for the Pokemon. Are they effective in healing the little guys?

I doubt he's alright. He's probably come down with some kind of... Boat disease, or--

Oh, you were asking about me. Well, I'm sure I'll catch it, too.

Coffee... Is that some sort of medicinal drink, or is it more of a remedy for treating just symptoms?

I'm a new arrival, too - so I figure it's a good idea to be careful until my Pokémon and I both find our feet. Training's important, too, you can tell your friend that. A strong partner is a safe one.

[Paul waves to greet Boober, Trapinch shoving his orange head in the frame.]

I'll do my best. You're worried about him? It should be better with you around.

[Since he travels on his own Paul doesn't have a guardian - but it sounds like Booker is looking after his friend.]

I will. I don't think I need to tell him that, though. Gobo's very competitive. Even though he's not registered as a trainer, I'm sure his Pokemon will grow strong very quickly.

[He's visibly startled by Trapinch, leaning away-- That's a lot of teeth! Intimidating even over a video...

But then his mind catches up on hearing what Paul said, and that, uh... That's not exactly a way he's used to people putting it!]

I am, yes. Always. [He means he's always worried period, but a lot of that certainly is fussing over his friends' wellbeing.] I don't think that makes things much better, but... Thank you.

That's a good idea. The stronger he is, the safer he'll be and the better he'll be able to fend off Team Rocket and their ilk. It seems like he knows what to do.

[Paul smiles a little. That's his plan. While he's not interested in gyms and badges on their own, they're a means to an end for him and his partner. A way to mark their strength and skill.]

I came here alone - it doesn't bother me, especially since I have Trapinch here and we decided to keep each other safe. We're making sure to battle so he can grow stronger, and ​I'm hoping to pick up some new Pokémon soon to keep us company.

[Trapinch backs off a little and closes his mouth, as if realizing that he's spooking Boober.]

Oh, of course!

[Boober doesn't quite smile, but he brightens up all the same when asked about his Pokemon. The Rotom scared him at first, but that didn't even last a full hour before Boober was charmed by the little fella. So he's even a little eager as he gets out the Pokeball, fumbling it a bit before releasing his partner.

Rotom definitely is smiling - grinning, really - and spins in front of the camera before it starts zipping around erratically, in and out of frame.]

This is Nylon! I named it that.

Hulud is mine. He's a Trapinch. I'm not sure what he'll evolve into but I figure we'll find out as we train.

[He knows a little about his partner - he's a Ground type despite looking like he should be a Bug-type, he likes to dig tunnels, and he has very sharp teeth. He's never seen the kind of Pokemon Nylon is before, but he guesses that it's at least partially an Electric-type.

It's an excitable ball of energy, an interesting contrast to Boober, who seems to be so cautious and wary. Paul smiles. As cynical as he can be, he can't help but warm to the Fraggles.]

Hello, Nylon. I'm Paul. It's a pleasure.

[When addressed directly, Nylon stops in its tracks and waves one of its electric appendages. That finally gets Boober smiling.]

It's nice to meet Hulud, too. [Even if his teeth are unnerving. Boober waves to the Trapinch.] Hello, little guy. I'm Boober.

Nylon's friendly. What kind of Pokémon is it?

[Paul's smile turns into a toothy grin. Really, there's something endearing about this whole situation. Hulud grunts what sounds like a greeting.]

I hope your friend - Gobo - gets the medicine he needs, or finds some way to help his headache.

Nylon is a Rotom, which is an electric-type and ghost-type Pokemon.

[And Boober's had to consistently keep telling himself that a ghost-type isn't necessarily the same thing as an actual ghost.]

[He hesitates, then, looking off in thought. Paul seems likable, and it's not that Boober's bad at making friends, exactly. But it's not the most comfortable thing for him. Still...]
