As per usual, there's no video for Shrike's post, just the audio of what sounds like a kid.

"How long do people usually stay here?"

To his credit, though, while still shy about his appearance he's not nearly as nervous about talking to people as he once was. There's still a trace of it in his tone, to be sure, but his speech is no longer quite so hesitant as before.

"Is it a long time if someone's here for almost a year or more, or are most people here that long?"

And that's it for now. Though if anyone's in the vicinity of Azalea Town, they might catch a glimpse of the shy kid in a Togekiss hood as he goes about his daily routine.

"Um, well, if you're going to be somewhere for a long time, what you do is different from if you're only staying a short time, right? So it'd be easier to know what to do if you know you'll probably stay longer..."

He just wants to know roughly what to plan for, in other words. Or at least, that's how he's currently choosing to think of it.

Uhh... Oh! Okay, like how if you might leave next week, you wouldn't want to - I don't know - start growing a garden? Like that, right?

Don't mind Shrike's poor conversational skills, he's only been here a year and he was terrible when he first arrived.

"Or buy more things. It doesn't make sense to get something if you're not going to use it..."

[sonrise]

Yeah, that too. Really, it's almost daunting to think about it, because you just don't know if you'll be able to carry through any plans you make... But hey! It'd be way worse to just stay in one place and do nothing, right?

[It sounds dreadfully boring to Varian, that's for sure.]

"Maybe... It's nice not to worry about having to leave, too, I think."

Says the kid who's never managed to live in one place more than a couple years at a time.

[sonrise]

Well, sort of. I mean, I feel like it's unlikely someone would never leave and go back, right? Sure, people coming here isn't concretely scientific to begin with, but it still stands to reason that eventually things would need to balance out.

[fayblood]

"I guess so... But if that won't be for a long time, then you don't have to worry about it for a while..."

Which is close enough, as far as he's concerned.

[sonrise]

Well, I'm not exactly worried about it. I mean, apparently there's no need to rush back home - or way to, for that matter - but I won't be upset when I do.

[He might have better luck "reading the room" here if he could rely on body language. He also might not.]

Considering how much Shrike still tries to keep his face hidden, it can definitely be hard to tell with him. In any case there's a brief pause before he replies as he thinks that over.

"Do you want to go home soon?"

[sonrise]

Well, yeah. I mean, being here is interesting, don't get me wrong, but I'd rather be back with my dad and my friends.

[fayblood]

"Oh."

That's right, some people here actually have people and stuff to return to. Shrike forgets about that sometime.

"Maybe you'll get to go back sooner."

Or maybe not, there's no way to tell, but one can always hope, right?

[sonrise]

Maybe. But even if not, I've been told I can expect to home to exactly where I left off, so that's good.

"Yeah, that's what people say."

Shrike's not experienced it first hand, nauturally, nor does he feel a particularly strong need for it himself, but he has heard it talked about.
