[ Even after sleeping out on the road, Minfilia was still here. She was still concerned, of course. Not that she would let it show as she began a video. The video did not begin on her - it seemed Minfilia was trying to take a picture of two sleeping Espurr - one of them twitching. After a few moments, Minfilia shifts - her Audino letting out some chirps, and she becomes visible. ]

 

--oh, am I using this wrong? We didn't have much like this where I came from.

 

[ Minfilia was now recording herself, a frown on her lips as she read the screen - ah. ] I hope that people enjoy seeing them, then. Ah-- perhaps they can help me decide.

 

[ And now she's talking to the network, a soft smile on her lips! ]

 

As a trainer, I believe I must capture more Pokemon then my starter. Is it right to capture more then one of the same species? These two have been following me since I left New Bark Town.

 

[ She does not wish to shake the boat, so to speak. ]

[It takes him but a moment to place her, she doesn't look too wildly different than how she did on the First, and while he never quite met her personally, her long, golden locks and crystalline blue eyes devoid of pupils were iconic features captured in art surrounding her heroic stalling of the flood.

Not to mention the Minfilias that came after her that held such features, similarly sacrificing themselves as she had to fight back the light--the very alignment in which they drew their power. Ironic, really.

Which is all to say that, despite what visual differences she holds from her future self, he's able to figure out who she is by what similarities there are.

When the video starts, she's greeted with the smirking visage of Emet-Selch, though she had no reason to know who he is. Yet, if she had ever looked upon the annals of Garlean history, she might find his countenance somewhat familiar.]

New are we? Well, you need not worry about the quantity of the same creatures you hold, you are free to catch as many as you wish, should your box hold them.

Though, might I suggest properly introducing yourself ere you ask advice to the network? It would do wonders to give a far warmer first impression.

[ And of course she had. Of course Minfilia knew of Garlean history - and she was quiet, for but a moment. What exactly was happening? Even she had seen a similar face, from propaganda she had seen removed from Ala Mhigo. From tales she had heard, and yet... was it a coincidence?
It could not be. That feeling in her chest, that sudden panic she felt, she dare not dismiss it. Yet, as with many things, she did not play her hand right away. For one thing, there was still that tiny chance. And for two, it would be better to play the part of ignorance. How many could see her if she made a false accusation?

Yes, for now, she would play dumb. Try and find out more. As she moved a little away from the Espurr, trying not to disturb them. ]

I should have, yes - but I do not wish to speak too much, else I wake those two. [ Her expression had shifted, no longer holding a smile. ] But now is a better time for introductions - it's far more personal when we're speaking one-on-one, is it not? [ There's a very clear pause, as she's considering something. ] My name is Minfilia.

[Just as he thought. Though he knows it's her, he does not act at all familiar—he's not sure from whence on the timeline she is from. She certainly does not look quite like the Minfilia he had come to know—well, know is rather generous. Know of.]

Minfilia, is it? What a lovely name. But yes, I do suppose this makes for a better conversational segue into more personal introductions.

[He pauses for just a moment, in fact, one might not even notice the pause as he goes to introduce himself, choosing a name to specifically test the waters with her. He keeps a keen eye on her, watching for what little tells in her facial expression there may be as he speaks the name:]

[ Minfilias' face would go though so many tiny little changes. She was good at hiding her inner thoughts, but confronted with-- this, she could not hide it all. A slight flash of confusion, before anger overcame her.

Sure, she could come to a more logical conclusion. Well, logical for their star. But her heart flooded with anger she thought she'd grown past, and her lips curved into a frown.

For her heart still beat Ala Mhigan, her heart still beat with the anger of what the Empire did to her people. What they did to her family. ]

You're looking well for a dead man.

[ (She knows not. Perhaps she suspects it. Perhaps not. Perhaps this star allowed people to reclaim lost youth.) ]

There's certainly no rules saying you're not allowed, and if they both want to come with you, then I think you ought to let them.

[So says the unfamiliar young woman to this other unfamiliar young woman! Jane seems chipper enough, though. Her own Audino is in frame, sleepily sipping a cup of milk, holding the vessel with both paws.]

I have a couple of Pokemon that you could in fact consider to be the same or similar species, but with some differences - I have two Nidoran, but the girls and the boys are different and grow up into differet creatures. I also have two Ninetails, but one of them is a species that adapted to a different region's environment and is completely different from the kinds people are used to seeing. And then, Plusle and Minun are essentially the same, just - well, one is more aligned with positive charges and the other with negative charges. Electrical ones, specifically. So if you and those two little dears are in agreement to travel together, there's no reason why you shouldn't!

[ Minfilia listens to the other woman, closing her eyes in thought as she does. Noting these species names down mentally. She does note the other Audino, however - and hers begins to chirp quietly.

The babies are sleeping, after all. ] There are so many little things about these beautiful creatures, aren't there? If I am to be honest, I would not need these... Espurr, I believe, to be different when they grew up. They're bonded. I simply did not know if it was allowed.

You have an Audino as well? May I ask a few questions about them? [ she is going to be a good pokemon caretaker!!! ]

Oh, gosh! Then of course you wouldn't want to seperate them - my Plusle and Minun are the same way.

[They're actually siblings, but Jane doesn't know that 100%]

Ah, and of course - what exactly would you like to know about them? Mine's a little more...I want to say feisty? Than her peers, but as far as abilities go I can't say they ought to be too different.

[ It's the same with the Espurr, but Minfilia doesn't know that! But she looks so cheerful. ]

I suppose the first question is - is the Pokedex correct about them? Kind-hearted caretakers with the ability to sense inner feelings... I would expect variance in their demeanor, of course - no one creature is like another.

[G'rhyf doesn't reply to the post right away, needing to take some time to compose themself. Even though it was only recently that she had truly passed on, they'd grieved her loss for a terribly long time--ever since they learned of her fate after that godsdamned banquet. They aren't much better than Thancred in how they've picked at that wound, even if they'd held it close to their chest, and to see her here yet again hale and whole just as she had been when they first met...well.]

[When they do flick on their feed, G'rhyf offers a small and friendly smile, not trying to immediately come off overly familiar--just in case. G'raha and Aymeric may know them, but they don't want to assume anything after that awkwardness with Hythlodaeus.]

No more wrong that it would be to take in two of any other animal, I would think. And if they've been following you, I'd say they've already made the decision for you, really!

[ Her reply was that of a stranger, alas. She did not know them, but she carried the same kindness she would as usual. Her careful speech, mixed with her soft smile.

Like an arrow though the chest, it was as if Minfilia had never changed. For she had not. There was curiosity, of course. But she shifted the camera back to the sleeping Espurr, for a few moments. ] That much is true - denying them now would be rude. It's quite a lot, adjusting to the idea that they enjoy the idea of working with Hyur so closely. [ She is fascinated by the idea, clearly. ]

[They'd been prepared for this, of course, but it still feels strange all the same. G'rhyf's expression wobbles for a moment, but they recover easily enough and manage a small chuckle in response.]

The creatures of this place are quite interesting, yes. I've only collected a few thus far, but they're all very dependable companions.

Rose does seem so, at the very least - and it is worth it to trust any companion. Especially ones that seem so smart.

Now personally I don't know very much about the world of Pokémon, since I am quite new here myself, but your Pokédex is a very useful resource. It contains generations of information about the local fauna. I suggest referring to that if you have any questions.

I've been browsing it - it's quite fascinating! Did you know that these Espurr have immense power they cannot control, under their ears? I hope I can make their journeys as good as possible.

[ A little pause. ] I must admit, the technology of this land is quite amazing and perplexing. Perhaps in... [ She stopped herself, before smiling again. ] We could talk over long distances, but we used Linkpearls. [ She tilted her head to the side, to show what looked like a pearl earring. ] Not devices like this.

[Layton leans in a little to get a better look, but is delighted at the idea. He nods softly, looking a little impressed with the thought of something as common as jewelry being used as a means of communication. He supposes it could work, being so close to the ear.]

Fascinating! In both regards. I don't believe I've come across an Espurr in the wild myself yet, but I'm eager to catalogue the information.

There's nothing illegal or wrong about training multiple members of the same species, I can confirm that much. I have three Gyarados, three Aegislash, two Luxray, two Gardevoir, two Lilligant and two Oricorio, yet no one has ever given me grief about it.

[If that's not proof enough, surely nothing is.]

Why, you could raise a hundred Espurr, if you wished.

They all sound like beautiful species, as well. [ Beautiful in their own way. Still. ] But I don't think I would wish to rehome an entire tribe of Espurr. They have their own home here.

[ There's a few chirps from her Audino, and the camera moves back a little - Minfilia moving away a little from the sleeping children. ] Thank you, Rose. [ A little chuckle. ] If more came to me, I don't know if I could refuse. These two are adorable.

As you've already seen, Pokémon can make their wishes and preferences extremely clear, when it comes to picking companions. Who knows, maybe a hundred Espurr will come to you, especially if they see the way you treat this pair.

[It's a possibility! But perhaps not one that's probable or even particularly likely, as he continues-]

Admittedly, I've yet to hear of an entire tribe of a species choosing to follow a single trainer. Still, Espurr would be far from the worst option, if that were to happen.

[Aymeric doesn't know Minifilia, at least not as the others of his traveling group might. True that there had been some correspondence as he worked to establish supply lines for the Scions, and a brief moment of elbow touching when they both graced the ill-fated banquet in Ul'dah. But between that and her storied history, he did not truly know the woman. And that leaves him at a loss for what to say for a good long while.

WHen he finally does flick on his own video feed, he is all business and formality. At least that much is a familiar starting point.]

Though I am but a newcomer to this world, I suspect there is nothing wrong with catching two of a bunch. Especially when one might be remiss to separate a bonded pair. More than that, though I am sure there are many differences between each creature of a species, in my experience Espurr are a reliable sort of creature.

[The feed flicks to the front facing camera, where a male Meowstic currently is also slumbering! His ear twitches, and he cracks one eye to look at the camera, before shutting it once more.]

[ If she had not seen that everybody seemed to become Hyur, Minfilia would have wondered why this man mirrored the look of the Lord Commander so much. But they had been in contact, and she was aware of how he looked. After all, they had both come to Snowcloak. (Lady Iceheart and her abilities still made Minfilia worry, in the back of her mind. But they could deal with that later, and she could ask her so many things, if only she could get time to.)

For her, that was still recent. But she was also aware that he would be at the fated banquet she had been ready to attend. Thus, her look of shock quickly shifts to her usual smile. Seeming a lot more relaxed. ]

Ser Aymeric. You look well. [ But onto the topic at hand. ] I have read that they change forms as they grow - is that the grown up form of Espurr?

[It is good, at least, that she recognizes him. Given the discrepancies in time between himself and the others, he might have feared that the leader of the Scions might have been without her own recollections. At least it is one less thing that he has to either explain or reconcile.

Still, it does beg the question: how much did she remember. He makes a note to proceed with caution -- it's not his place to explain what had transpired in the months that might have separated the two of them.

So... better to focus on the simple things. Like Pokemon!]

That is correct. The creatures here undergo rapid evolution once they reach a certain level of strength. For Espurr, or rather Meowstic as their counterparts are called, this is when their Dimorphism begins to show. I am told that females are of a reverse color scheme?
