There are some that can tolerate it. Pokémon, however, do seem to be fairly hardly, considering they enjoy battling and often have special powers. Perhaps it will tolerate it well? I'd make sure to keep a close eye on it and watch for any unusual behavior. Also, your friend may want to try asking at a PokéCenter, just to be sure.
Well, they're also pretty dangerous animals, too... some of them. I've seen quite a few dangerous animals back home, too. It's quite amazing what's out there.
