video/action | what makes the sky blue?
[ all of this started when gabriel just wanted to record sandalphon having a good time with israfel, latte, and herself around ecruteak. it was an innocent recording, starting out with latte jumping about and giggling. it was all fun and games. none of them had noticed that they had passed a basculegion. and as quickly as they passed by, a man with six gorgeous white wings manifested behind the angel. as sandalphon turned to face his hatterene, he was met with the face he could only dream of meeting once more.
his pokemon noticed the stark change in their trainer's demeanor before sandalphon did, and all shuffled closer to him-- all except gabriel, who decided to keep recording just to be sure. she knew from reading her trainer's journal as to who this was-- and how much he meant to her trainer. all she could do is coo in worry, asking the other two to keep an eye on him, just in case.
sandalphon's face loses all form of happiness, replaced with a existential dread only the supreme primarch knew. oh, astrals, not this. not now. the angel could only reach out, hand trembling violently as he did. he forced himself to smile, to find joy in this reunion no matter how small. their last words together in the shaded garden still rang in his mind, before he had bid his guiding light goodbye. his mouth ran dry with the lack of words he could use, trying his best to come up with something, anything, that he could say that didn't bring up centuries of pain and sorrow to the forefront. it was taking every part of sandalphon's will to not break down crying. oh, astrals, why this.
but before the brown-haired angel could do anything, the man spoke with a gentle smile and a joy that could only be found within those sky blue eyes. ]
Sandalphon... what a pleasure to see you once more.
L... [ he swallowed. ] Lucifer-sama...? I thought... no, the last I saw you...

Action
"Sandalphon...?"

but unlike sandalphon, it's lucifer who notices shrike, but does not say a word. his focus is much more on the brown haired angel, as he tries his best to take sandalphon into his own arms-- but as much as he wants to, it seems his touch only fades through. ]

Shrike's definitely concerned now. But given the lack of an initial response he turns to look at the other figure.
"Who are you?!"
And what are you trying to do to Sandalphon, is practically implied.
no subject
lucifer, on the other hand finally responds. ]
Lucifer. You can say I've known Sandalphon for a very long time. [ the serene smile he holds clearly has a tinge of sadness to it, but it's very well hidden. ]

"... Why are you here?"
Okay, he might still be a little suspicious.
boyfriend to the rescue!!!!
which was going to come to an abrupt end after seeing the look on Sandalphon's face when Lucifer appears. Corrin could feel his heart beating in his ears, in flight mode, rushing out the door. he sends out his Altaria to fly ahead. ]
Find him.
[ the blue bird takes to the skies while Corrin races through Ecruteak, and a high pitched scream from his Altaria informs the prince of his boyfriend's location. once he spots him, he races to his side. ]
SANDALPHON!
[ he takes him into a tight embrace. ]
I'm here. I've got you.
[ Corrin casts his gaze up at the other angel while he holds his partner. so this was him ... this was Lucifer. ]

and then he was in corrin's arms. warm... it was oh, so warm, and sandalphon knew that he was living in reality. on one hand, it comforted him. but on the other... his mind went back to his captain and the grandcypher crew. what became of them? what happened? he needed to know-- had to, or else he would never forgive himself for being so careless. but even so... he couldn't deny corrin's warmth. it was safe here. it was a comfort he wouldn't ever deny himself, and he instinctively pushed himself in closer. it felt so right, when he knew that there was someone there to support him. he buries his face into the prince's shoulders as he tries to control his breathing. ]
Thank you, Corrin... [ his breath is shaky, but he manages. ] Thank you, truly...
[ lucifer was not blind to the affection the prince showed his solace. it was an affection that he wished he could show sandalphon, but for the moment, this was enough. the spark that glimmered in his eye only grew, accentuated with a small, delicate smile. ]
You continue to make wonderful friends. I'm so pleased to see how much you've grown. [ the gentle tone does not escape sandalphon's ears. he could only look up at the white haired angel with a weak smile. ]
no subject
I'm his partner.
[ the dragon prince growls. he had the situation read entirely wrong, but his devotion to Sandalphon rang true. ]
You should consider yourself lucky that I don't have my sword with me. If you even think about hurting him, I'll-- [ he shields Sandalphon with his arm-- ] I'll make you feel relieved that you are merely a ghost who can't feel the world of hurt I would inflict upon you if you dare hurt the person I love.

but this fierce, protective side of corrin... it was nothing like that sweet, gentle soul he's come to know and love. a facet of him that brought all sorts of confusing feelings to the forefront. he's mainly the protector-- to be the protected is something of a new experience. he fights the blush on his face, especially when corrin calls him his partner. while true, sandalphon feels the need to clear the air, to let his prince know that lucifer never meant any harm.
lucifer is quick to notice corrin's aggression, however, and backs off for a moment. ] I did not know Sandalphon found a partner... [ the smile does not dissipate, even if the spark fades for a second. there was a wonder in his voice, however. ]
C-Corrin, wait.. [ sandalphon finally manages to speak up, and he looks at his prince with worried eyes. ] Lucifer-sama is... he means no harm. He and I made amends before I arrived here. It was in the precipice between life and death, yes, but we did. I... I simply feared the worst, given... [ he doesn't want to think about it. thankfully where sandalphon left off, lucifer picks back up. ]
The Sky Realm is free from danger, if that is what worries you. [ or at least, that's what he's hoping is the case. ] I do not understand why I have the wings of the Supreme Primarch once more. I was sure I passed them onto you.
no subject
Sandalphon ... so this is Lucifer. [ the prince still keeps his arm extended in a protective gesture over the brunette. he was not going to yield - this was a ghost, after all. in the event of attack, he wanted to make sure he was at the front line. ]
Are you okay--?
no subject
I'm fine. [ as fine could be, he bitterly adds to himself. ] Yes, this is... This is Lucifer. The Supreme Primarch, overseer of evolution and leader of the archangels.
[ the ghost of lucifer nods his head once in greeting. he doesn't exactly understand why corrin is so hostile, but thinks nothing of it. he was very limited as to what he could do anyways. but even so... ] Sandalphon. You and I know very well that is no longer accurate.
Lucifer-sama... [ sandalphon swallows down his nerves. he knows, but admitting it was something completely different. ]
no subject
Lucifer.
[ time to do something crazy, he guesses. ]
I know of you. I know that Sandalphon has a troubled history, I know that he has struggled immensely because of this. [ he grips Sandalphon's hand tighter. ] And while he may be far from from his home world ... he is under my care and protection while he is here. He will never need to spend another day feeling as though he is without purpose, or unwanted.
[ a breath ]
I love him.

for sandalphon, it sends a myriad of feelings through the angel. what was he to say? what can he say? all he knew was that corrin was showing a level of bravery he didn't expect out of him. being honest and true were only bonuses, emotions that made the angel's heart feel like jumping out of his chest. it was so difficult to find the words to express just how grateful he was to have someone like corrin by his side. what was it, that made him unable to say the same words that his prince had told lucifer?
for lucifer's ghost, however, the surprise doesn't last long. his face shifts back into a indiscernible, but small smile, as if trying to cope with an unknown reality. there was so much more he wanted to say, to let the two know of, but it never slips out. emotions never did come easy to express, when he was the one delegated to watch the world as its audience. all he could do is nod his head in agreement, accepting corrin's love without hesitation. ]
Then I leave Sandalphon in your care. I know you will do right by him where I did not.
[ that was a confirmation, if at all subtle, that lucifer was alright with the relationship. it made sandalphon smile, small as it was. it was alright to be happy. that was... helpful. a closure, even. ]
no subject
the thought feels like a knife to his chest.
he speaks nothing of it - and reaches for Sandalphon's hand. ]
... I'll give him nothing less than my very best.
[ he bites back the sadness swelling inside of him. ]
