Who: Romelle, Keith, OPEN Where: Romelle: in and around Azalea, Keith: in and around Ecruteak When: During the Basculegion Event Summary: Ghost time! Rating: PG-13? Log:
[It wasn't often that you saw a fish in fountains, but could a cute little pond with a waterfall coming out of a rock be considered a fountain? Or a decorative pond? Keith wasn't sure, but he was curious about this particular fish as he hadn't seen it around before. Leave it to his Torracat to get too curious and try to pull it out of the water. Keith wasn't interested in trying to catch one, so he moved to push Red back and get the fish back in the water, having to grab it in order to do so.
He wiped his hands on his pants as he stood back up, and turned around-]
Dad?
[With the way he knew this place worked, it really could be him, and Keith was momentarily shocked, but then happy until he tried to grab his father's hand... And that was a nice painful reminder. He pulled his hand back again, his whole mood dropping in an instant.]
[Allura isn't sure which is more impressive, that both their Pokémon were able to get their paws on such enormous fish- because Nara managed to catch a blue one herself- or that Keith was able to haul it into the water so easily... Dang that was hot...
But then she puts her own fish back in the water, and she's milliseconds from turning and asking after Keith when she hears a voice just over her shoulder...]
Daughter...
[Oh. It's shocking how much one little word could lance through her, with the right voice behind it. She's almost afraid to look, stays frozen for a handful of long seconds, but... her nostalgia has always been a weak spot. She finally turns her head over her shoulder from where she's kneeling. There he is, every bit as grave and weary as the day Altea fell, as he was captured in the AI.]
[Keith recognized the voice as well, having seen and heard the hologram when it went crazy after Sendak's corrupted crystal had damaged the Castle's computer system and Alfor's memory AI. He crossed his arms, looking momentarily uncomfortable as he tried to process this for a moment.]
This is weird, right?
[That got a small snort of a chuckle from his father, who slipped his hands into his pockets.]
[She wants to believe, to reach out so badly it hurts, but... the memories from destroying the corrupted AI hurt too, and all the other times her ache for home have turned against her. But this Alfor gives her a soft, sad, kind smile as he holds out his hand.]
It is all right, Daughter. I cannot hurt you.
[Tears finally spill over as she gingerly reaches her hand to his, the palm of her hand barely brushing against the cool mist.]
Father...
[So much pain and loss in that one little word. The apparition echoes an ache of his own in that melancholy smile, wanting to hold his daughter but unable. Instead, he turns his gaze to the living young man.]
And this is my first successor?
Y-yes... [Allura hastily wipes tears away with her free hand.] This is Keith; he was the first Red Paladin after you, before the Black Lion chose him.
[Keith smiled a little sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. His father chuckled, giving Allura a nod in response.]
Very nice to meet you as well. Princess Allura, yes?
Yeah. She's... [he almost said, 'my good friend,' but... well, they were dating. They hadn't exactly given it a name, yet, but...] She's my girlfriend.
[Oh... not only had it not occurred to Allura the ghosts might not know that, but... it's... really nice to hear Keith call her that. Really really nice.]
Ah... yes. That is true.
[Alfor blinks, and then looks to Keith.]
"I suppose it is a tad fruitless to warn you to treat my daughter right."
[Keith's attention was drawn to her touch for a moment, and he shifted his hand so he could hold hers in return, giving her a small smile.]
Well, ain't that cute. [Keith almost outright blushed at that. His dad had never gotten the chance to tease him about relationships before. Keith's dad just crossed his arms and gave a knowing look over to Alfor.] So, should we be asking what they're intentions are for each other?
[Sure, Routes 37 and 38 didn't actually have water, but that didn't stop the chance of puddles from forming. Now that Keith knew what the Basculegion were about, he was a little reluctant to touch them. But, seeing a fish in a puddle, ghosts or not, meant he should probably at least try to help it, right?
Of course.
So, here he was with someone ghostly following him around again...]

[Keith had flown over to the National Park for a bit in the hopes to escape some of the ghost fish, but no such luck. After several encounters this morning, he was quite frustrated, and really not up to helping any more fish that might be stuck in puddles, but this particular fish had a goal in mind and flopped itself at him, managing to smack his leg.
The area around him went horribly cold very fast, and Keith knew right away that this was not going to be anywhere near a pleasant experience.
The massive Galra with a hovering mechanical arm and a red glowing robot eye stood before him. For any who had already seen Shiro's version, this Sendak was different... the arm was different, the 'fur' was longer... and he was angry. His presence immediately put Keith on the defensive.]
[It was down in the Slowpoke Well that Romelle found her first weird looking fish Pokémon, and it went straight for the heart on this one. It didn't even give her the chance to choose on whether she wanted to do anything about it.
She gasped and tried to go for the hug, which obviously didn't work. After a minute, though, of dealing with that blow, she was just glad to have her brother to at least talk to again, even for a little while.]
[The more-than-occasional rain on Route 33 helped with creating nice puddles for Basculegion to play in and leap out at unsuspecting travelers and trainers, and Romelle was no exception to this occurrence. As she was out exercising her Pokémon prior to a gym challenge, she got pounced by a fish, and was now playing host to her parents' ghosts!]
[Underground lakes in caves were great places for fish to hide, especially fish like Basculegion, who liked to make people see ghosts from their past. Romelle immediately regretted going back into this cave for some pre-badge training when one of the fish in question jumped up to play with her, managing to land in her arms. Before she could drop it back in the water, the ghosts had already appeared...]

I'd say so.

Keith... that's the best you can do? [Keith startled a bit at his father's comment.]
Uh, I mean... [He stumbled verbally for a moment.] I uh... it's an honor... sir. Your Majesty. Sir...
no subject
[Probably to Keith's surprise, but certainly not to Allura's, the king's ghost merely chuckles as he waves a placating hand.]
Please, Alfor will suffice. We are both Paladins of Voltron.
[Allura lets out a breath of a laugh.]
You have a point, Father. [She turns to nod at the other ghost.] It is good to meet you as well, sir.

Very nice to meet you as well. Princess Allura, yes?
Yeah. She's... [he almost said, 'my good friend,' but... well, they were dating. They hadn't exactly given it a name, yet, but...] She's my girlfriend.

Father!
"Joking, I'm joking!"
[Well, half joking.]
no subject
No worries there. He's a good kid, even if he is a troublemaker.
Dad...
I still kept an eye on you, son.
[Okay, that got a half-smile, half-pained look out of Keith. Man, he had a lot to say, and, yet, no words to say it with...]

[She subtly reaches for Keith's hand, smiling at him.]
He is a very good man.

Ahhhh intentions?
[MAN her voice went high on that last word. What is he talking about, is this some human thing she should know?]
no subject
Dad!
[The man laughed.]
It's alright. I'm just teasin' you. But I also do want you to be happy.
[That hit a sore spot, and Keith's mood sobered. He swallowed hard and nodded.]
I know.
no subject
[Alfor nods with a similar smile at Allura, and she knows what he's thinking.]
I know you want that as well, Father. And... Keith does make me quite happy. I hope I can do the same for him.
no subject
You do.
One of the Blades of Marmora
Of course.
