[ an ace trainer stands on the boardwalk between violet city and sprout tower— feels like the perfect place to start a run for the morning! as the faux blond adjusts his screen, he tilts it down to reveal two fox pokémon— a nickit and an alolan vulpix. the latter is lazily stretching its front paws to knead at the ground while the former is just preening its pristine tails. ]

Guys— Look lively. [ it’s more an authoritative request than a friendly jest; the nickit jumps to show “i’m alive!” while the vulpix . . . turns its snout in the air and gives its back to him. ]

Ah— [ okay time to quickly bring attention back to him! as if that didn’t just happen! with a hand up and a smile!: ] Hey! Name’s Atsumu, I’m a new Ace Trainer, and lookin’ for more foxes. If ya’ got extra eggs just gathering dust, lemme take ‘em off your hands! Got the cash to pay up. I’m kinda buildin’ a team theme here and I ain’t gonna mind doubles. We’re even takin’ some practice matches if you’re in the Violet City area, cool? Might even head to Goldenrod for some shopping.

We’re gonna be a top notch team out there.

[ and just as he tries to shut it off, he grumbles, but hushing: what’s yer damn problem, snow white? ]

Hey there. Most people consider Eevees foxes. If you're interested, I can put you on a waitlist for an egg. I have two couples and they look like they might get something going soon.

[He looks to where Isla is grooming Kiryu and Evie and Evan are snuggling.]

[ huh . . . atsumu gives them all a good look and a thoughtful rub of his chin! ]

They do kinda look like foxes, with the tails. [ ears are kind of long and rabbit-like— but he’ll take fox over rabbit on this one. ] Count me in. How many evos they got already? Five?

Yeah, they seem to be kind of a fox-rabbit mix. [He hasn't somehow heard Atsumu's thoughts, but he's thought the same thing since first seeing them.] They're super cute and friendly. Last I heard is that there's eight known evolutions. Cool, I'll put you down for one.

[foxsets]

—Eight?

[ whistle! wow. ]

That's more than a whole team! Wait— How many eggs come in a—?!

[ vague gesture ?!?!?! you know???? ]

[Radley chuckles.]

I think every couple is different. I just got one egg before, but Evie and Evan are even closer now, and I don't know how many Kiryu and Isla might make. I'm hoping I'll get enough to cover everyone on my waitlist.

[A broad hint of warning in his voice here. Life was nice and calm here in the world of weird monsters that like to fight each other. He really didn't want to have to ruin that calm with actual violence.

Looks like he's got more foxes than you do Atsumu. Not to mention his Eeveelutions. And to add insult to injury, both his shiny Chimecho and Mimikyu are out with him as well just chilling around his neck and in his arms.]

Yeah, his foxes are also well behaved Atsumu, he doesn't have a princess on his hands. So take THAT!!!]

Eh— It looks more like a Ying-Yang Cat. [ not to mention a bringer of doom. even if that sounds cool, but. pass! ] You gotta Kanto Vulpix?

[ that! that, he seems more interested in! ]

Yeah, I guess that's fair. [The Absol, still looking nonplussed, leaves the frame.] I just asked 'cause he's my Vulpix's boyfriend, and an egg could be either or.

[Said Vulpix climbs into his lap and blinks at the camera with big ol' doe eyes. Her fur is particularly lustrous, and she has a red ribbon around her neck. She's obviously well loved.]

[ what a cutie. atsumu gives the vulpix much more sparkling attention with the eyes, before, turning his head to regard his one icy variant. ]

Looks like we got more in common than ya' think, Freezer. [ he shouws her the camera, causing him to flee from view and give her screen time. ] You gotta twin, too.

[ ever the quiet one, freezer only offers a single eye up to glance, and only because it was another vulpix. one she hasn't actually . . . seen before. cue actual curiosity! ]

Any reason ya' don't evolve it?

Depends on what you consider foxes. I guess the eeveelutions kinda... look like 'em. Hell, I got a few that probably have eggs stashed somewhere that I haven't noticed. Alternatively have, uh. A regular ninetales that... I think can probably breed with a chance of regular vulpix. Honestly, there's probably eggs 'round here somewhere for all of 'em that I just haven't found yet as these dickheads like to hide them.
