The still, quiet peace of a new dawn in New Bark town is shattered by a loud scream. A few moments later, a tall man with stringy black hair is pushed out of the front door, bag in hand, Snorunt by his side.

"Excuse you!" He whips around and tries to go back in, only to find the door locked. He starts banging on it. "I demand answers! What journey? And who are you to call yourself my mother?!"

Whoever this is, he's very persistent. He's just going to keep doing this for about an hour while the poor Snorunt trembles while it clings to his leg.

"It is of no concern." He moves to walk away, and see how long before his pokemon notice he's gone. But instead pauses, an idea coming to mind.

"Actually, I have a proposal for you, Loki."

Loki smirks, raising an eyebrow. "My, how forward of you. We've only just met."

His ears turn just slightly pink and he huffs.

"Nothing of that sort, but if you want to be quipy about it I can just leave-"

He has a feeling this man is not too dissimilar to Claude and that curiosity might be enough of a lure on it's own.

"It was only a jest," Loki says before Hubert even has a chance to turn. "What, pray tell, did you have in mind?"

Bingo.

"I left this little hamlet a month ago, but I found myself... offhandedly defeated in a battle recently, and... well, I decided a return to the beginning would be wise. To reassess my training and tactics. So we will be traveling the same early roads for a time.

Your little snowflake seems interested in proving it's strength, and perhaps observing someone else's methods would help inspire me. I feel we could benefit each other."

"An interesting proposal." Loki doesn't have any reason to trust this man, and from what he said the roads aren't exactly dangerous enough to necessitate a traveling companion. Still, being with someone who knows their way around this place and it's strange animals could prove advantageous.

And just because he's without his powers doesn't mean he can't defend himself.

"Why not? What do you say to a traveling companion, Snjókorn?"

The snorunt shivers. She wouldn't have attacked that bird if she knew they would be traveling together!

Hubert chuckles, which probably does little to ease the pokemon's nerves.

"Do not worry about those two, I have a feeling they already forgot what they were yelling about."

And in fact the birds are now just caw-chatting at each other, not even noticing the Snorunt anymore.

Snorunt looks up at her trainer, to the other trainer, then down to the birds cawing about some weird bug they found the other day. Okay, so maybe she isn't in as much danger as she thought.

She nods, something Loki didn't think was possible without a discernable neck.

"It's settled, then. When were you planning on departing?"

[pegasinister]

"Whenever you are ready, actually. Perhaps int he morning? That way you can confirm if this is just a strange dream you are having or not."

"I see no reason to delay. If it is a dream, that can be confirmed on the road as easily as it can be here."
