[After all the ruckus that happened with the ghosts appearing during the festival, Kaneki decided that maybe he'd been in Ecruteak a bit longer than he was due. He wanted to stay at the library forever, but after coming back to Olivine, he found himself relieved to be someplace that felt more like home now than not. And that didn't mean he couldn't regularly check out books there; in fact, he did at least once a week when he was off from work.
Today though, Kaneki can be seen knelt on the porch of his home, Gear pointed toward himself with one hand. At his left, a Smeargle and a shiny Pumpkaboo hover curiously at his elbow while Rikki the Guard Zangoose keeps her ever present perch on his shoulder. They all appear to be staring not at the screen, but at the cracks in the wood boards of the porch.]
Hey, so...I know it's been a long time since I've made a video post, but...there's something going on. This morning, I found- well...look.
[He reaches into his apron pockets and pulls out a wrapped peppermint, one of the kinds you might get at a restaurant. He hands it to the Smeargle, who quickly unwraps it and places it back in Kaneki's palm. Then, Kaneki takes the sweet and places it a few inches from one of those cracks.
A few moments pass in silence before, all of a sudden, a black little...hand of some sort reaches up and blindly feels around for a bit before it finds the candy and pulls it back down into the depths beneath the porch.
Then, Kaneki looks back at the Gear. He looks a bit wigged out to say the least.]
Annie and Night Light went down there to try and see what it was earlier, but they couldn't find anything. I really...don't know what to make of it.
[Is it a Pokemon? Is it some sort of unidentified gremlin? We just don't know.]

...Um, Kaneki? Humans don't...they don't make Pokemon live under houses here, do they?
[You don't seem to know what's going on so he's not going to blame you but if the natives are forcing nice monsters underground that has to be stopped immediately.]
[Pokemon are pretty hard to make to do anything in most cases...they're a lot more opinionated than your average dog or cat.]
This is my house. But...if that is a Pokemon down there, I don't think I've seen one like it.
[He looks so relieved...]
Do you think maybe if you leave candy in a trail from under your house to on your porch, it'll follow the trail and come to see you?
Have you seen anything strange like this where you are, Asriel-chan?
[He hands off a few handfuls of candy to his Pokemon as he asks this so they can start making the aforementioned trail.]
[He doesn't really go out at night, being a child with a parent around.]
I kinda wanna though! Where do you think I could find one?
[He smiles faintly as he leans back on his heels, watching his Pokemon tromp off the porch while dropping pieces of candy.]
So they're probably in bushes or tall grass, if not under porches.
[He doesn't want to worry his Dad anymore. Not ever again.]
[Kaneki turns his Gear a little so Asriel can watch as the shy little Pokemon finally starts to reveal itself, edging out from beneath the porch steps to pull candy towards itself.]
How about I just keep you posted on the whereabouts of these little guys instead? They seem to like it where I live.
[Asgore has been upset enough for several thousand lifetimes.
Asriel's eyes widen as the little Pokemon edges out from hiding. Oh...it's so cute...it's got a costume and everything, and it's so small!]
Yes please! They're really cool, wow...
[Because you know, Halloween.]

I guess I stopped after I got a certain age. It's mostly young children who do it.
[He pauses, thoughtful, as if considering something that someone told him a long time ago.]
...Would grown-ups get mad if I was trick-or-treating? I-I don't think I'm too old, but, I might be...I don't know.
[Honey even if you were too old you're still really short and baby-faced for your age, no one would notice]
Of course not. Just because I don't anymore doesn't mean that people my age don't go trick-or-treating. And you're definitely not too old for it if you want to do it.
Really? You promise it's okay?
[You're like...what, twelve?]
Well...okay. If you say so.
[He beams. LET'S GET ALL THE CANDY]

[...Sure enough, she's sitting on a bench and two little things that look like their covered in pale yellow rags are snuggled up to her, one of them nibbling on a puff with its black...hand-thing. The ghost whisperer, even now.]
no subject
I haven't...but I think you're right. I've never seen a Pokemon like that before.
[They seem friendly, though. Look how cuddly they are.]
Did you catch them, Ashley-san?
no subject
[They love her. The really love her.]
Now they just kind of come up to me... Weird, but they're sort of, you know. Sweet?
no subject
[Kaneki shifts his Gear in his hand, dropping another piece of candy for his friend beneath the porch to snatch into the void.]
They don't look like they want to cause any harm, at least. I'd take these guys showing up over what happened last Halloween any day.

[Aaand we'll leave it there.]
Have you seen anything else like them, or just these guys?

[Ghosts love her, she actually likes these ghosts, they have to stay right ha]
no subject
[He says that with a nod towards the candy steadily disappearing in front of him.]
no subject
Maybe if you leave a trail of candy, you'll get yours to come on out...
no subject
[Kaneki looks down at the candy pieces in his hand before spacing them apart a little, tossing a few off the edge of the porch so the hand will have to reach farther. And sure enough...once it's grabbed all the ones on the deck, it starts to crawl out into the open, identical to the ones huddled around Ashley.]

[Yo, boyfriend, don't mind Maka just leaning over your shoulder to check out the situation.]
Maybe it's a new one? I think this was before you arrived, the Pokemon from Kalos started swarming around here randomly too. It started off with the Goomy, then the rest started coming in bursts.
[Ah, to be jaded from living in the Pokemon world for the last bit of your teenage years.]
no subject
Yeah...? I'd say that's weird, but what isn't weird here.
[But if it's a normal occurrence, then maybe they shouldn't be too concerned.]
What should we do, you think?
AND THEN FROM NOWHERE, IT'S ME
[Whatever Maka has in mind, she gets up to go back into the house immediately, emerging a few moments later with a bowl of berries.]
You can't just feed them candy, let's leave these out for them too.
ITSAMOZ
Ah, that's a good idea. This little guy seems to be pretty hungry.
