[ closed log ] - Stantler Hunting
Who: Keith, Allura, Sasha
Where: Deertrack Heights, Hisui
When: Around this week lol
Summary: Keith, Allura, and Sasha got picked for the three Stantlers mission. They're going out together to each catch one to bring back.
Rating: PG to be safe (I really don't see any issues coming up, but will edit if necessary)
Log:
[Our intrepid trio leaves basecamp, and starts the hike up the hill towards Deertrack Heights to find some Stantlers for their mission. With their current Pokémon partners, Sasha with a Teddiursa, Allura with a Cyndaquill, and Keith with a Sneasel, they find they actually have to work together to get through. The Pokémon in this era were definitely more willing to attack humans!
Keith threw an Oran berry ahead of them to try distracting the rather grumpy looking Geodude away from their approach.]
Is it me, or do the wild Pokémon here all seem way more aggressive than back where we'd been?

Agreed. And considerably more powerful.
[Seriously, HOW are single-digit level Pokémon without a type advantage almost knocking out Plamer in two turns? Still, at least the long hike is good for working out her adrenaline.]
Any sign of Stantler?

They haven't been around many people. [What with all the villagers seemingly terrified of Pokemon, the idea any of these wild creatures coming into contact with humans (or in Allura's case, human-shaped) seems farfetched.] They're feral. Kind of like stray cats who don't have owners.

That makes sense, honestly. [He looked up the hill they were climbing, towards the peak.] From what I've heard, there's a population of them up there. We should be able to find three fairly easily.
[Considering how supplies were for them at the moment, it was easier for them to each catch one and bring them back. Plus, it was safer to travel together in a strange place like this with such hostile Pokémon and none of their regular team.]

[Allura gives a firm nod; it was wise of the Ginkgo Guild to set up most of these special missions in groups, and she's glad working with people she trusts--ah! Allura's eyes are flitting to one of the hills when she stops.]
Look! [She crouches down and points.] There's a small herd on that rise...

Wait. [Sasha falls quiet as she watches the Stantlers movements, tracking them with a sharp eye. The Pokemon haven't noticed them yet, which is great, but that's no reason to get sloppy.] There's too many of them in one spot. We need bait them apart.

Maybe some berries? We could toss a couple in different directions and see if we can get a few of them off alone from the rest.
no subject
That should work. [Let's see...] Probably each of us slightly farther apart. Normally I'd say three corners, but if they feel boxed in, they might all flee or attack.
