joining the hisui bandwagon
Who: Rei and You (?)
Where: Hisui: Base Camp
When: Sometime in July
Summary: Rei (And others) go on patrol to keep the camp safe!
Rating: G? Probably.
Log:
It is different, here. The air is cleaner, cooler, calmer. No buzzing from electronics. The pokemon are wilder. Free roaming. Difficult to keep out of places where they may accidentally find themselves. Items are harder to come by, must be made, materials must be found.
Rei does not know what else to do but to fall into a routine. Patrolling the camp to keep it safe. From what? Wild pokemon, who do not know where the borders are. It is familiar, in some ways. Important, in its own way, as much as finding the pieces of the machine that will bring them home. Sometimes it is dangerous, and that is why Cinder, her new Cyndaquil, often accompanies her.
And why your character might want to, along with her.

Hi. How's the patrolling today?

Well, there is something to be said for being able to breathe in such sweet air again, and see the entirety of the night sky without any pollution from thick cities. Dimitri has honestly been enjoying himself, even without how many times he's gotten his ass kicked, or almost kicked.
A feral blond can get into quite a lot of trouble, really.
But that inclination towards getting into all sorts of things may very likely explain the patient and quiet Hisuian Typhlosion following along behind him when he meets up with Rei, and he raises his hand in greeting to her. "Rei! It's been quite some time, hasn't it? I wouldn't have imagined we would meet again in circumstances such as this, however."

This is the correct answer, at least so far. She would like for this to stay that way.

The lack of technology is the most difficult part to adjust to, as well as the different fabrics. But the sky is deep and dark at night and the Krikitune chirp in the summer haze in a way that feels familiar.
"It seems that you have adjusted as well."
Her own Cyndaquil hides behind her ankles, tucked up in a ball.

[Lily greets Cinder.]

[One more frustration to add to the list....
He sighs, running a hand into his hair.]
... What do you think of it here? Some people seem to be adapting easier than others.

Surely all of them will get back to where they need to be, the home that he spent so much time building, but... For now, he takes silly and strange little comforts where he can.
In the meanwhile, he chuckles, and reaches back to stroke along his Typhlosion's head. "Well, I cannot sit still, in such a situation. It has gotten us into some shenanigans, I suppose you could say, but it is working all well."

It is simple and it is small, but it is familiar and it is fulfilling in its own way.
"What have you been doing?"

[He sighs.]
I just have to do all I can to get home to them soon.

[He's given up with the few who don't seem to want to do anything.]

[He hoped it wouldn't delay them that much more.]

[And if something pushes him over the edge, he might still break and give up.]

"Oh, I have been doing a few odd jobs here and there," Dimitri admits. "However, mostly, I do rather like simply going off into the wilderness to see how things are different here, while still being a little familiar to me. Before I arrived here, I... did manage to survive in the wilderness on my own for five years."
An unpleasant, miserable, bloody five years. Dimitri's gaze grows a bit distant.
"And yet... Somehow, the familiarity is almost comforting, even though that was a difficult time."

The physical ones, at least. The medications one must take, the training one must undergo, the orders that must be fulfilled. Isolating without being isolated.
"It is difficult to survive on one's own. But it is fulfilling in other ways."
no subject
Well, that's besides the point. Dimitri pauses for a moment, thoughtful. "What sort of things have you found fulfilling, while we have all been fending for ourselves here?"
