It is different, here. The air is cleaner, cooler, calmer. No buzzing from electronics. The pokemon are wilder. Free roaming. Difficult to keep out of places where they may accidentally find themselves. Items are harder to come by, must be made, materials must be found.

Rei does not know what else to do but to fall into a routine. Patrolling the camp to keep it safe. From what? Wild pokemon, who do not know where the borders are. It is familiar, in some ways. Important, in its own way, as much as finding the pieces of the machine that will bring them home. Sometimes it is dangerous, and that is why Cinder, her new Cyndaquil, often accompanies her.

And why your character might want to, along with her.

[Radley is so exhausted. He's been gathering again, desperately hoping that those going on Special Missions will bring back the parts. He's trying to keep the camp well-tended for them and everyone, and he appreciates all the efforts of those patrolling. He sees Rei as he's coming back with more gathered items and tries to tiredly greet her.]

Hi. How's the patrolling today?

[instrumentally]

"Uneventful."

This is the correct answer, at least so far. She would like for this to stay that way.

That's good. You and the other patrollers do an efficient job.

[Lily greets Cinder.]

What do you typically do around the campsite?

[crystalmaster]

I bring in food, sometimes other items. I do some of the cooking. I always look for the parts when I'm gathering stuff, but I haven't had any luck there.

[instrumentally]

What items have you found?

[crystalmaster]

Mostly the firewood. I've stuck close to the camp for the most part. I've gotten some of the other food, like the beans, when I've gone out farther looking for the parts.

[instrumentally]

I have not found any of these missing parts thus far.

[crystalmaster]

Yeah, me either. At least some of the others have been having luck with that. I wonder how many pieces there are altogether.

[instrumentally]

We will not know until the machine is complete.

[crystalmaster]

You'd think she'd be smart enough to have inventoried all the parts when she built it!

[One more frustration to add to the list....

He sighs, running a hand into his hair.]

... What do you think of it here? Some people seem to be adapting easier than others.

[instrumentally]

It does not bother me.

[crystalmaster]

Well, that's good. I'd like it better if my Pokemon were here with me. But that didn't happen, so ...

[He sighs.]

I just have to do all I can to get home to them soon.

[instrumentally]

Yes. That is the goal we are striving towards.

[crystalmaster]

I'm glad most of us are actively pitching in to help with that.

[He's given up with the few who don't seem to want to do anything.]

We are all playing our part.

I've seen a couple of slackers, but eh, I'm not going to waste my time on them anymore. The rest of us have to work that much harder without them, though.

[He hoped it wouldn't delay them that much more.]

Some may be having more difficulty adjusting than others. It is understandable.

If I didn't wanna go back so badly, I might just give up too. I'll admit that.

[And if something pushes him over the edge, he might still break and give up.]
