An egg post. Of sorts. Maybe.
[Oh, look at that, it's Armin, standing on a beach, with a sweet collection of eggs just behind him -- thirteen in all, if anyone is keeping count-- and Lapras visible further back.]
Hello. Uhm-- As I'm sure most of you already know, my name is Armin, and I run a Lapras breeding program. If you aren't familiar with Lapras, they are a wonderful aquatic pokemon, but years of over-hunting left them very near to extinction in the wild, so this is my way of trying to reverse that damage. At least a little.
I actually just recently released a batch of young lapras into the wild, and I've just bred a new clutch of eggs [here he turns and gestures at the eggs behind him.] This will be my fifth batch of Lapras and I wanted to try a little experiment this time. I'm not sure if it is something people would be interested in but I'd like to try.
[He turns back to the camera.]
I'd like to know if anyone would be interested in adopting one of these Lapras.
[In a rush, he quickly adds:]
Not-- not physically! Or permanently. All of these young Lapras will be going into the wild when they are old enough. I meant more of an adoption in name. I've read about other pokemon rescues doing these sorts of things to help people feel connected and involved, and I was wondering if that was something that would work for my breeding program too. I'm certain there are other people too who'd like to help Lapras, but don't exactly have the room to keep a breeding herd.
[He gives a bit of a wry smile.]
And, honestly, it would also be a way to help my gym's budget.
If you are interested in adopting one of these Lapras, you'll get to name them --though, of course we'll have to wait until they've hatched to know exactly what they are-- and I'll give you regular updates on your adopted Lapras. You can even come visit if you'd like.
And in exchange for that, well, I'll take whatever you'd like to contribute -- whether it is a one time donation or a reoccurring one. Or even if you'd like to donate some of your time. The babies are mostly raised by the adults members of my herd, but there are some cleaning and feeding duties that you could help with.
It might be a bad idea, but I hope you'll give it some thought.

That sounds like a lovely idea, Armin. I am a bit busy with challenging gyms and preparing for the tournament coming up, so I can't quite offer my time yet, but I'd love to adopt a Lapras.

And who knows. If you ever feel the strong desire to clean up after about twenty-three Lapras in the future, I usually keep my young Lapras with my breeding pod for at least half a year.
[So, you know. Plenty of time to shovel some Lapras poo.]

[That gets a laugh out of her.]
I shall keep that in mind; I would like to meet the young Lapras at some point, even if it means cleaning up. For now, you'll have to content yourself with my money.

[Armin gives the egg pile a critical look, before selecting one. There are small (non-toxic!!) paint marks on each egg, which is presumably how Armin is keeping them all apart.]
Would you like to adopt this one? I could tell you a little about the parents if you want.
no subject
[Awww~]
Yes, please, to both.

[Armin double-checks the paint colour for a moment.]
This is Ladybug's first egg. She is my youngest Lapras. I think she'll make a good mother though, especially with the rest of the herd helping her. Though she'll probably never be a very strict mother. She's pretty playful herself. Ah, wait, that's her.
[Armin flips the camera around to film a shiny young Lapras having a bit of a playful waterfight with another one of his Lapras.]
For this egg, I bred her to my Araquanid Boris. I've used him for my breeding project in the past, and I think he's got some good personality traits to pass on. He's turned into a pretty serious and responsible pokemon. Despite, uh, a bit of a rough patch when he was still a Dewpider.
[Back when he was a big-headed little jerk.]

[.... One sec, she needs to wrap her head around the idea of a scuba spider and whatever the Altean equivalent of the Loch Ness Monster is making babies...]
2/2
I-I see! [Totally normal throat clearing, she'll just excuse herself and take a swig of her water bottle.] They both sound like lovely Pokémon. I'd be happy to meet them and their little one when I can.

[If she is not pleased with this egg, Armin can offer another!!]
1/2
I-I'm fine, thank you! Just a bit of a dry throat is all.
[SHE'S NOT DISPLEASED, she's good now, she just needed a minute!]

[Still, her smile grows more sincere.]
As I said, they sound like a good match. Boris actually sounds a bit like Keith. [Which means she's absolutely on board with this.] I'd be honored to help raise their egg, Armin.

He does a bit, doesn't he? He always reminded me of Jean. Though I guess you've only known him as a responsibly guy, haven't you?
[Allura missed out on Jean's little shit days. Not that Armin would phrase it in that way, but that is what they were.]
no subject
Actually, I think I've only seen Jean in passing, so I couldn't say.
[She remembers seeing him here and there at the house, and responding to Keith's advice request during the... bathtub incident. But Jean and Allura haven't had a chance to actually talk yet. Maybe they should soon. Still, Allura does smile.]
That does sound like Keith, though. When I first met him he was a bit... tempremental. [Look, it's in his journal name, and he still is from time to time.] He's become an excellent leader, though. I couldn't ask for a better teammate, or friend... or romantic partner.
no subject
[He might not have commented on it, but Armin had seen those posts on the network!]
Jean was... when we first started out as trainees, he was pretty... self-centered. [A nice way of saying 'a douchebag'] And a terrible hothead, especially when it came to Eren. Of course, we were all kids back then, so, we all had plenty of flaws. But some of us had flaws that were louder than others.
no subject
[That gets a chuckle out of her.]
That sounds more like Lance when we first met, the self-centered part. And he and Keith were both hotheaded, they used to quarrel constantly. [But then her smile softens.] Probably because they're alike in a lot of ways. And they matured a lot during our time together in our world.
[She knows Lance regressed... a LOT in this world, but she still remembers the brave, selflessly loyal Red Paladin and best friend she know back there.]
no subject
[Once they matured, they had gone down very different paths, but during their training days? Certainly similar enough to constantly clash.]
no subject
Oh, exactly! And here I am thinking "hello, gentlemen, universe-spanning revolution to fight?"
no subject
[Cause, honestly, 'the universe-spanning revolution needs you' is a pretty big subject for a first meeting.]
no subject
It is. [She's a bit surprised he hasn't heard the whole of their story yet. Her smile grows a little more nostalgic, but a little rueful too.] They discovered the Blue Lion hidden on Earth together. Blue led them to my castle where my advisor Coran and I were in stasis. We likely would have stayed there forever, if not for them.
no subject
They didn't know where the lion was taking them, right? I believe Keith mentioned that to me before.
[Not the Keith she knows (perhaps also in the biblical sense?), but a different Keith. Still. Keith though.]
no subject
[DRINK SOME FERALIGATRADE, Y'ALL!
Allura just shaked her head.]
No. The Lions had been hidden away for ten thousand years; they were more or less the first humans to discover it, and had only just briefly learned of the Galra Empire's existence as well.
