video - ecruteak city - double battle pondering!!!
Helping Hand... [ Minfilia starts her broadcast rather strangely, now doesn't she? ] It seems to me that most battles in this land are one-on-one. It is the sort of battle in the upcoming tournament, and is also the sort which is used in the gym challenge. And yet, our companions have moves which seem to suggest that they are more adapt at battling in larger groups. Helping Hand is but one of them. There are other moves, such as Heal Pulse, that would only aid if you wished to heal your opponent. [ A beat. ] Which is useful in some situations, I must admit - if you find a hurt Pokemon on the road, for example.
I cannot help but wonder if battling with more Pokemon then once is a more accepted thing in other regions. Perhaps it is something we can experiment with? I do not expect we can change the culture of this land, mind you. Yet, it may be interesting. [ Or fun, but Minfilia doesn't say that! ]
[ Over the last few weeks, Minfilia has been around Ecruteak and the surrounding area - so if you wanna see her in-person, there she is! She's... training her tourney team hardcore. She looks a bit exhausted. But she has to do better then just failing! Oddly enough, however, she's. Encountering Zigzagoon, getting her Pachirisu to use Covet, then. Letting them go.
If she sees you, she will ask one thing: ] Do you know a better source of Oran Berries then looking for Zigzagoon?
[ Backdated to the 15th, locked to G'rhyf! ]
[ Burned Tower, huh. Adventuring with G'rhyf, huh. Minfilia had been so excited! She'd gotten herself prepared, getting as many supplies as she could, even if it was just in the same town... there was an unspoken desire there, now wasn't there?
That is, until they both stepped wrong and fell into the slightly dark basement. There would be steps out somewhere, but there were... sounds. Quite spooky sounds. An echo that sounded like... ] Chuu... Chuu...

[Riku shrugs. Ultimately, it's just speculation, after all.]
There's a lot to account for when battling with multiple team members. Moves like Earthquake and Surf are great for one on one, but they're practically friendly fire if you don't prep for it. Maybe that's why it's less common- too much of a hassle to orchestrate.

But I also imagine it would be more advanced, since there is a focus on the bond between a single Pokemon and their trainer.

[Riku nods, though. That's a pretty fair assessment.]
You have to consider team synergy, the terrain, the timing of your attacks. Protect's basically mandatory for double battles. Moves like Fake Out are probably handy for it, too.

[ Her analytical brain is running fast! ] I doubt I'll be winning the tournament, but it'll also be a way to see many more strategies first-hand.

[Riku shrugs, his smile a bit sheepish.]
Been hard to stay motivated now that I "have it all," I guess. I need to set up my gym at some point, but a part of me just keeps thinking, "But then what?"

[ She seems so proud, speaking of her Pokemon! But then, she tilts her head. ] I imagine it's harder when you've been here for so long. I know I have one goal, but if I succeed, I don't know what to do afterwards.

[There's a heavy sigh, and he wilts a little. Adulting is hard.]

On my part, I am not too interested in running a gym. I wish only to gain the respect of those who live here, so that I may seek answers for some of my own worries. Yet... I imagine you've seen a lot.
