"Only when they like me." Certain Pokemon could sense Walter. They felt his past, his heart and his mind, and they avoided him at all costs. But others, such as the ones he had captured...it was easier he had found, to be with Pokemon than people. He still didn't understand their kindness but he could just. Be. Sitting with his team, idling petting them or feeling their warmth as they sat beside him, or even just seeing them share space with him; he didn't feel so alone.
He gently picked two of the litter from Anders, extremely care with how he cradled the Meowths. He had dropped a kitten before and the incident had stuck in his memory. The Meowths reminded him of his...of the people he had met. Rhys had one, and so did 'Jack'. Mentally he named the pair in his arms after them.
"Will you be keeping one of them?" He asked, indicating to the kittens in Ander's hold as they began to take them to the Pokemon Centre. He was a bit like Jack; a keeper of cat pokemon.
