HALLOWEEN 2016: Team Skull Log

Summary: Team Skull's planned a full-fledged assault on Goldenrod; join up with a team and take them down!

Log:

It's been three days since Guzma's made his first announcement over the radio, but try as the police might, no one's been able to get to him since; after making his call to arms, asking all available Skulls to come to Goldenrod to have some fun, he seems to have completely dropped off without a trace. But Candela isn't concerned much about that. She's been at this for long enough to know the song and dance; this is a pivotal spot, after all, and Guzma will be back here before long, probably with more than enough cronies to go around. When that happens, they'll head him off at the pass. Easy as that. He's gotta get orders out to the people outside, after all, and the only place he can do that is here.

He won't take it over a second time. Team Valor will make sure of that.

Meanwhile, outside the tower, Blanche would like to think she has a bit more control of the situation. Candela had been so gung-ho on kicking Guzma's ass in the tower that Blanche almost didn't have the heart to tell her that there was probably an ambush waiting in there for her. ...Rather, she tried, but Candela has a way of being far too stubborn for her own good...in any case, if she needs backup, she's out here to provide it, but if there are going to be riots and messes in the streets, its better to be out here where the damage is going to be at its highest, just to stop it before it starts. Already, Team Skull is starting to come out in small hordes, and it won't be long before things start to get hectic out here. Team Mystic, though, is dedicated towards stopping this before it gets a chance to start. ...But perhaps they'd be taken a bit more seriously if Candela and Spark hadn't forced her to dress up for Halloween--

Speaking of Spark, of course, Team Instinct's leader seems to have his priorities in order; if there are going to be riots and debris in the streets, some of the wild Pokemon in the area might just get hurt, and that will never do! So Spark has taken it on himself to lead a search-and-rescue charge with Team Instinct--any stray Pokemon in the Goldenrod area should be either captured or brought straight to a Pokemon Center ASAP! The goal is not to leave even one behind! ...Of course, Team Skull is a problem, too, but won't somebody think of the Pokemon--

You're free to NPC any Team Skull grunts and Pokemon interactions yourselves, but Team Valor will have the chance to battle Guzma, and Team Mystic will have the chance to battle Plumeria! Please be patient with responses in these threads; if the boss's Pokemon start to become too weak, they'll end up making a tactical retreat!

One last thing: you're all encouraged to have your character in costume for an event like this, and your team leaders will be dressed in costume, too! If three or more characters in costume participate in a thread together, a miracle might occur, and the Legendary Bird corresponding with your team has a chance to appear at your discretion! This applies in battles with Guzma and Plumeria, as well!

[Thida had despised the Skull Grunts the moment they showed up in Cherrygrove City - all the trouble they caused for innocent people was nasty bullying, plain and simple. But when their big boss makes a move to take over a place and the call comes out to fight back?

Team Valor, Agent 3 has reported for duty!

Good thing it's easy to see through all those eyeholes she accidentally made, because this little ghost is all over the place with an Inkay floating alongside her. COME AT HER SKULL SCRUBS!]

[Envy hasn't been too happy about all these skeleton delinquents flooding the city. This is his home! He's allowed to be a shitty delinquent here, but these new guys can get the hell out.]

[So of course he has to join the team attacking them directly. He comes straight from the haunted house to join in, so he's still in his costume. Meaning elaborate ghoulish regalia, complete with ghostly blue-white facepaint, wilder-than-usual hair and flowing, tattered clothes--which he's at the very least tied back the worst of. Can't run around fighting anyone off if you keep tripping over your costume or bits of it get caught on door handles as you're running by--although even with the effort, someone might find him trying to untangle parts of his costume from said doors or if they've gotten tangled around a potted plant.]

[He's got his Houndoom and Zoroark out by his side; he has a full team with him, but those two are the easiest to get through hallways with. Not to mention, the Zoroark can fill little sections of hallway full of Skull grunts with shadowy, nightmarish illusions to throw them off their game or get them to run. If anybody on their side happens to wander into one of those? They'll get Envy wading in to pull them out.]

Handsome Jack | OTA

[Oh, hell no.]

[These Skull bastards have been getting on Jack's nerves since they started popping out. Sure, watching them harass random people and people he doesn't like has been pretty good entertainment, but they're encroaching on his territory. Well, Rocket territory. Which is his, because if this is the organization he's stuck in, he's gonna be the best god damned Rocket there is and rise up through the ranks, just like he did with Hyperion.]

[His plans for Halloween had mainly consisted of 'watching TV or slasher movies while wearing the costume he spent good money on for a date he couldn't make'. But those assholes are going after the tower. So Jack grabs his fighting team and pulls the hood of his wizard's robes low over his face and throws his lot in with Valor.]

[He's more than ready to kick some ass. He has his newly evolved Drapion out, and a Spearow on his shoulder, the others in their balls.]

[He'll be throwing himself into the fighting, trying to keep his hood up, resorting to throwing punches at Skull grunts when he feels his Pokemon aren't getting the job done. He'll be easy to find, just follow the near constant stream of boasting about battle prowess and insults of varying cleverness punctuated by cursing.]

[So this is happening now. Now, the whole Halloween thing... It's not that Felix hates holidays. It's just that his appreciation of them tends to come in the form of going to clubs on whatever planet or space station he happened to be at and take advantage of themed nights and discounts. Not much of that here.

So honestly this weird... attack? Sure, let's call it that. It's as good a way of spending Halloween as anything else, if you ask him. At least now he actually gets to do something. Going with Valor is pretty much a no-brainer.

...He's not wearing a costume, though. No, he's just wearing black skinny jeans and an orange tank top - hey, you can't say it's not fitting for the holiday, can you?

Felix will let his Pokemon take care of some of the action, of course. His Mawile and Seviper are both out, taking care of any of Team Skull's Pokemon. But he's not gonna sit back and let them do everything for him. Nah, he's also just gonna beat up some of these grunts himself. Honestly, even if he weren't pretty good at CQC this would be pathetically easy, these guys are a joke.

Really, he's treating them with all the seriousness they deserve.]

[Napstablook didn't know what the team sign-ups were for. What they did know, is that if everyone's signing up for them, that they should at least make an attempt to fit in with everyone else.

But oh geez, they didn't know they'd be doing this. Blooky hasn't even made it inside the Tower yet, but they look so out of place with all the fighting going on around them.]

o-oh... um... oh geez...

[They want to hide. Somewhere where they're out of the way. But a voice interrupts them and they've already been spotted by someone from Team Skull coming around the corner of the Tower.]

"Hey, punk! What do you think you're doing?"

"You trying to mess with us? I'll pulverize you!"

[Napstablook lets out a tiny, panicked squeak. It seems like a battle is going to happen whether Napstablook is ready for one or not. Spoilers they're not.]

[Well fuck this. Hawke was looking forward to a night in, lounging about with Anders and shoveling candy into her mouth. However, the second the call goes out, Hawke is jumping up and all but leaping into her armor.]

[At the very least, it's an opportunity to prove that she's the goddamned Champion of Kirkwall.]

[While Anders breaks off to help the Pokemon, Hawke hurtles straight toward the thick of combat. You'll likely find her snapping commands to her Honedge, or running alongside Growlithe to the next battle.]

[Well, there was only one way to get rid of a problem like this, and it was to face it head on! Free transport to Goldenrod, and Eren had only paused long enough to stock up on supplies, including something called a "Razor Fang". It was expensive for what looked like just a tooth, but Armin's research said it might make Carey "evolve", and that was something he definitely wanted to see. It came on a necklace, and he placed it around her neck but... nothing happened.

Because it was daytime...

What a waste of money.

Thankfully, there had been someone who was more helpful, and they were able to teach Eren's pokémon a few new moves. He hoped they would come in handy against this punk.

Hildegard the skarmory stands next to her trainer, who has a green cloak draped around his shoulders. He looks around at the others assembled and... squints]

[After using some high quality stealth to sneak into an encounter with Guzma, has ended up into the fray whether he like sit or not. Fortunately, the Skull grunts around have been annoying him- this stuff is bad for business!]

[And. Seriously. Dive to the side or a spare room or a bathroom or something. That is absolutely a Rapidash using Flame Wheel down the whole damn hallway and blazing through whatever is in her path.]

[Joker and Angel the Mime Jr look so pleased with themselves. At least, as much as they can, with his face warped in rather skullish makeup and Angel wearing an oversized Duskull mask.]

[Manaka has dressed up as the Alice of Alice in Wonderland, though in practice, her costume isn't all that different from her usual clothes. Still, in her mary janes and white apron, she appears even more innocent than usual.

Which probably makes her presence in the radio tower look all the more out of place. She seems more like a girl out on an afternoon stroll, humming to herself when she isn't ordering her Pokémon here and there.

In truth, she doesn't really care all that much. But Jack hadn't been pleased with the Team Skull situation, and she had figured it would be good for him to take his anger out on something, so she had tagged along with him to make sure he didn't get up to too much trouble.

Despite her lack of personal investment, though, she's doing a good job of raising hell in her own right. Her favored tactic seems to be spreading confusion among the enemy ranks—quite literally, in most cases, though she also enjoys afflicting her enemies with burns, paralysis, and sleep too. In fact, if anyone looks like they need a helping hand, she's liable to assist with a status effect hit-and-run, the blithe smile on her face never faltering.]

[He'd taken some punches and an attempted mugging, but was confident that this "Team Skull" just needed a good friend! That was, until that guy came on the radio encouraging their awful behavior! That alone was bad enough, but, their insistence of using the symbol of a skull was just the icing on the cake! Papyrus won't stand for such slander of the good name of skeletons!

Carboard bones in hand, and the fantastically lucky reemergence of his "battle body" as well as Herculanum the Litleo and Luminari the Shinx at his sides, Papyrus is ready. Oh, if only Undyne were here to see how cool he was being! Well, Mettaton might, so that's a huuuuuuuge plus!]

[translation : bring it on you little hell raisers. It's good to be out in battle again - literally, he's not leaving his Pokemon to do all the fighting, if he can get away with it. His Doublade has come apart, a sword for each hand, and for any Skull member who's causing trouble, they're getting sliced and diced and sent home to mama! or guzma. close enough.

As for actual battling, he's got the rest of his team ready to go - Diggersby, Zatu, Graveler, Pachirisu and... Slowpoke. Who is doing nothing. Except sitting there and being a Slowpoke. Very sorry if you trip over it.]

KRIEG | OTA

The evening had begun so nicely. He'd settled on a Growlithe costume because he didn't want to upset Angel by wearing his new Jack mask, and because Angel thinks Growlithes are cute. There's not actually a whole lot to his costume - a Growlithe ear headband, a fluffy white faux fur ruff for his neck, and another fluffy white faux fur tail for his belt. His pants were already orange, and he'd had Angel help him paint black stripes on his bare back and on his arms. Easy peasy.

But now in the chaos caused by Team Skull he's lost track of Angel, and that's really pissed him off.

Thankfully, there are plenty of Skull Grunts to take his frustration out on while he looks for her. He leaves their Pokemon to the tender mercies of Murder Chicken, fully evolved now, but handles the truly persistent grunts the old-fashioned way - with his fists. They make quite a pair - the Blaziken's movements are graceful and economical while Krieg's are rough and unpolished. Neither of them hold back - Murder Chicken is giving it all because his trainer is upset, and Krieg is always dialed up to 100 when fighting even when he's not upset, and doesn't know the meaning of the word "moderation" anyway.

1.) THE HERO OF ALL THE VILLAINS
[Even though his main focus currently is to find Angel, Krieg's not so blinded to everything else that he won't stop and help someone who's clearly being bullied. After giving the bullies something else to think about - a new black eye, bruised kidneys, a lump on the back of the head - he looks the Team Skull's victim over carefully and asks:]

2.) NOBODY CAN STOP THE BLOOD TRAIN
[Krieg is always down to team up for super-effective asskicking fun times. Or even just to remark positively on an ass well kicked. After witnessing any epic takedown of those Skull clowns, he's likely to giggle delightedly and say something along the lines of:]

[Even when no burning was involved.]

3.) MY OPERATIC DIVA OF FLESH AND STEEL
[And if someone's not busy fighting off Team Skull members or being bullied by them, he's likely to straight up approach and ask his Very Important Question.]

With his team, Lucario and Banette in front, Dipper is doing his best to get through the Team Skull goons who get in his way. He might need some help since his Pokemon are all ridiculously uneven levels. At least his Lucarion and Banette can easily hold their own, and so can his Sylveon.]

[You know, Maka just wanted a nice and quiet Halloween, spending time inside with the boyfriend, have a fire, read some books--stuff like that. She didn't even mind the weird little ghosts moving in under her porch, hell she'd be perfectly happy to let them stay there.

It's these guys randomly appearing all over the region and now here that are really spoiling her pumpkins.

Kali, her Houndoom, and Bones, her Marowak, are flanking either side of her as she marches straight on towards the grunts--intending to cut a path directly through them. This doesn't stop them from commenting, sending their Pokemon after (fended off by Kali and Bones of course), or being annoying.]

["Yoooo--whatchu thinkin' comin' up here, cuz?"

"Ho, is dat a Marowak? I ain't never one like dat before!"

"'ey, sis, you got some cute pins there."]

[Meaning the skull pins in her hair--the one Halloween thing she decided to wear that day. Dressing up after the...incident of last year isn't really on her mind.]

I'm going to punch your leader in the face. Get out of the way and I won't start with you.

[They're not taking her seriously. One of the conveniently color coded male grunts swaggers on over to her, hands on hips, laughing.

"You gonna take on alla us, sis?"]

Yeah.

[He leans down to her level, gesturing at his face. "Ain't that cute, why don'tcha get a free shot in on me?" None of the grunts are taking her threat seriously.]

[CRUNCH! goes Maka's fist right into the grunt's nose, throwing him back at his fellows. That certainly changes their tune, even behind their bandanas the grunts look...shellshocked.]

Like I said, I'm going for your leader, so please get out of my way or you're going home on a stretcher.

[If the folks on Team Mystic see Jane from afar, she...looks more like a relatively short middle-aged man with an Audino by her side. Still, that Audino packs one hell of a punch towards the roaming Skull Grunt groups trying to break through to the Radio Tower, and she's quick to run over if she notices your team is starting to flag, offering Refresh and Heal Pulse. Don't dis a gal with a fake mustache, friends - she's here to help out. So do you need some help?]

Alphonse Elric | OTA

[Al has had more than enough of these Team Skull hooligans messing up Goldenrod. Not a whole lot of them have come through their neighborhood, but he's had to kick more than his fair share out of the library he works at. So he is very quick to sign up with Blanche along with Lust. Heather and Envy have assaulting the tower covered, and Instinct has enough volunteers that Al isn't too worried about that.]

[Maybe you're being chased down by some Skull thugs, maybe you're on the losing side of a battle. Or maybe you just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. But whatever the case may be, the Team Skull grunt you were just dealing with yelps and just barely dodges out of the way from a warning shot of Ember right at his feet.]

"Ay! Whadda ya think ya doin', you crazy?"

[The Typhlosion behind Alphonse lets out a lot, threatening growl, and a tight, very angry smile spreads across his face. Somehow, the knight's costume he's dressed up in doesn't actually make this any less intimidating.]

Buddy, you guys chose the wrong city to mess with.

[Normally, Elsa isn't the battling type. Sure, she'll train her companions, and if she runs into people out on the road she'll participate in the customary battle, but most of the time, she leaves the hardcore fighting to her sister.

But not today.

Today reminds her all too well of the last time some upstart teams tried to make trouble in the region. The chaos caused by Team Aqua and Team Magma duking it out with their legendary beasts is something Elsa hasn't quite forgotten yet, and although this Team Skull seems leagues behind either team, she's refusing to sit idly by as they do what they wish.]

Okay. This will be easier than last time.

[... She might look a bit silly, clad all in blue a hood pulled over her head and ears and faux-fur resembling a Glaceon's (complete with a tail hanging from her belt!), but... darnit, Anna had insisted, and if there's one thing Elsa can't do, it's deny Anna when she's got the puppy-dog look going on.]

Yo, you really think you can beat me dressed like that? Dang, what kinda wimpy team--

[The grunt she's now facing off against practically chokes as Skadi appears in a burst of light, the hulking Aurorus stomping a few times in intimidation. It looks like Elsa's got it all under control, but do you wanna approach, just in case...?]

[It's been one hell of a busy October, and it seems as though the month is determined to go out in a fashion befitting. These Skull gang people...they were crass and irritating and had invaded her home city.]

[A home city she pettily vandalized, when she had need of letting off steam. When the rallying call comes, she's quick to respond. So quick, she doesn't even bother changing out of her haunt costume save to rip off the wig.]

[Goldenrod is hers. Her family's. This is the place they've made their new lives and truly claimed them as their own. No poorly named gang of hooligans is going to move in here.]

[She'll be out in the streets of Goldenrod, with Amoz her shiny Houndoom at her side, ready to drive these uncouth vermin back to where they came. In this very, very rare instance, due to the circumstances, fellow Mystics will even see Lust battling her Pokemon against the Skulls.]

TEAM INSTINCT

[Both of the other teams who've grouped up in Goldenrod City are more battle-focused, and Asriel is...not too keen on getting into lots and lots of battles when it would be too hard to get his team to a Center in the middle of the heat of things. Besides, the innocent Pokemon he's seen roaming around the city were sure to get hurt in the middle of all these mean bullies swarming the streets. So, he's happy to be with Team Instinct, running around as a very determined Plusle with a Floette helping him find Pokemon trapped in messes or hiding from Skull Grunts. Chances are you'll find him carrying Glameows, Meowths, Rattatas, even Trubbishes back to the Pokemon Center or to save zones.]
