Second Spell (video; forward dated 10/09)
Whoa, that was a close call. I never anticipated a swarm of scary looking dog like Pokémon to be trickier than I was imagining. But I did survived a run in with them earlier tonight.
(Harry is currently at Ecruteak City’s Pokémon Center with his team right now. People who has known Harry for a long while will notice that Lily looks a lot different from what she looked like as a Dartrix: she is now bigger, her wings, while large, are smaller in wing area size than the average Decidueye, has a hat and vest like plumage in a mix of reds and oranges, and a pair of terrifying powerful legs. She is also pretty tired right now, but it could be tricky to tell thanks to her ‘hat’.)
Deci, Decidueye. Eye.
It was a tight spot since I was going to get some supplies for the trip to Mount Mortar and back but I was able to manage to catch one of them in the process, even though Lily was in a tight spot against fire type moves. I think that he is still mad at her for throwing so many leaves at his muzzle.
(Right beside Lily is a a black furred red eyed dog Pokémon with silvery bone like protrusions, large horns, and an orange underbelly. He (the Houndoom) is still nursing a leaf smack to the muzzle Lily threw at him earlier and he is not too happy about getting them.)
Hound, Doom… Houndoom.
(He is talking to Lily who gives him dagger eyes for that comment. So no worries about him glaring back at you, he just had a rough night.)
Thankfully she was able to hang in and survive the whole thing. I just hope she and this Houndoom won’t be attacking each other for the rest of my adventure. Has anyone else had an run in with these Houndoom as well?

A few have come onto the property since they swarmed through the area. However, with the presence of our small pond for all of our water types, well, I believe they knew better than to try their luck too deeply.
Especially since Dean himself was on watch and put them quite soundly in their place, not to speak of all the others.
[A house full of Pokemon trainers who let their Pokemon run around freely can be a terrifying thing.]
I do not suppose you have many other companions that could help keep the two of them in check...? Their typing seems naturally disinclined to one another, but that does not always mean they will not get along...
no subject
It is a good thing that he (Dean) was there to look after the Pokémon too. He must be very strong and brave to take them on.
As for me, I got five more Pokémon in my team and they are very friendly too, so they could try to keep Lily and the Houndoom in check from getting on each other’s nerves.

Dean is an Emboar, and had long since reached the peak of his abilities. So their flames were of no threat, and he had a bit of an upperhand as well. As to be expected of my starting partner as well.
[Dimitri is sure he could boast about Dean for a bit, but that would be a little arrogant... So he'll stop himself there.]</small. It seems as though you have taken quite well to this journey, then! And that the rest of your team seems considerably more cooperative with one another than your new companion is with Lily.
no subject
Yeah, everyone has known each other for a long time before the Houndoom came along. Lily has been on good terms with every single one of them, even with other my Fire Type Pokémon. Hopefully the Houndoom can learn cooperate with everyone else over time, though it is going to be easier said than done.

[Or, you know, person in general. Dimitri is still pretty sure Pokemon are incredibly smart and their own kind of people, so...]
Although... How do you train your team?

[Naeva says it pretty drily, watching this. She doesn't particularly share the Hounddoom's opinion.]
We were already inside, fortunately.
no subject
(Harry has a feeling that Naeva does have a point: the Houndoom he caught is a bit prideful of his appearance as he observed that he got pretty peeved by Lily sending in a wave of leaves at him. Despite the type disadvantage, she is pretty resilient.)
Hound-Doom… Deci-dueye…
That is good to hear that you were inside when the swarm happened. I didn’t expect wild Dark Type Pokémon to show up so suddenly at this time.
no subject
[Naeva you do realize that's ominous, right? So much so a Riolu is yipping and trying to take the gear from her. YOU'RE MESSING IT UP, MOM.]
...He sounds like he'll be holding a grudge for a while.
no subject
Yeah, I am thinking the same thing as well. It is going to be there between him and Lily for the foreseeable future.
(Harry is hoping to ensure that neither Pokémon would start fights among themselves before he can face the Gym Battles. That would be a hit to his team’s morale.)

[Does he sound particularly upset by it? Nope. Keldor had just recently rotated his team so that some of his lower-leveled 'mons could get some attention, as well as hatch his Snubbull eggs, and he now has two Water types on it that need training.]
The timing of their appearance could not have been more opportune.
[And they're getting plenty of that training. Level grind isn't that much of a grind when you've got a type advantage.]
no subject
Have you consider giving them any names at the moment? I think I may have the good choice for mine.
no subject
[No, he hasn't been catching anything.]
I have been battling them to help my pokemon gain more experience.
[But he could catch something. Another Lycanroc might be a good thing, though the one he would've liked [a dusk form] got away, and he hasn't seen another since.]
no subject
Hound, Doom! Doom, Houndoom…
(The Houndoom has his ears perked upon hearing Keldor speaking about battling the wild Houndoom and Lycanroc packs earlier. He (Houndoom) always wants to battle other Pokémon for as long as he can remember, so he is liking what the man on the other side of the screen has spoken.)

[Radley is brushing Snowbelle as he talks. The Alolan Vulpix stretches her tails, loving the attention.]
I haven't run into those guys at all.
no subject
That is good to know because my Houndoom was angry when me and Lily ran into him earlier. He must seeking out a challenge or something like that. And she was trying to defend me with one of her Grass moves and she may have gotten heavy handed or heavy winged on its strength.
no subject
[He frowns.]
I hope we won't get some coming on the property. But Virgil hates trespassers and would probably shoot Hydro Pump at them.
[He chuckles at the thought of his feisty Magikarp.]
Sounds like some Pokemon are like people in wanting to pick fights. Honestly, he started it, so he deserved the consequences.
no subject
Whoa, Virgil could spray water at them if they try to intrude into your place? That is a handy move to have for a Water Pokémon. The Houndoom are also vulnerable to water from what I have looked into.
(Sounds nearly identical to Remus’ werewolf form back at home.)
Well, Radley. You are definitely right to point it out: maybe the Houndoom shouldn’t be picking fights at other Pokémon that often. If he hadn’t been this aggressive, Lily could have been easier on him during the fight.

[He glances to his newly caught Mightyena, who seems... restless. His Alolan Ninetales sits nearby, watching the hyena Pokémon very carefully.]
Several Midnight Lycanroc, as well.
no subject
(Looking at Bruno’s Migthyena being restless is like seeing his Houndoom at this time, being wild Pokémon and all.)
Deci… Hound, Doom!
(Just don’t mind Lily and the Houndoom for the moment, they’re in the middle of their not-so-little squabble.)
Do you suppose they tend to act less aggressive under the full moon? I do need to read more about Dark Type Pokémon soon.
no subject
[The Mightyena listens to Lily and the Houndoom, glancing back and forth between the two.]
I'm not certain. I haven't noticed any similar behavior in my Absol, and my Obstagoon... [A pause.] Well, he's been acting about the same as usual. Though, I'm not certain he counts; Houndoom and Lycanroc are canine, and a Mightyena is superficially similar...
no subject
And he probably needs to manage his fighting desire and his, um, anger issues a little better.
