Summary: Keldor's last few days in Violet City

Log: Now that Keldor's won his first gym badge, there really isn't a lot left for him to do in Violet City, save for some serious, last-minute power-training of his pokemon [and shopping for cold weather clothing]. Just about everything that could be done here has been done.

Except visit the Ruins of Alph.

According to his research, there are some Fairy and Steel types roaming what's left of the ancient civilisation, and that's what's got him out here on this Saturday afternoon. So far he's managed to find himself a Spritzee and a Bronzor, and is currently trying to catch a Klefki, but there's one little problem...

THUD!

That.

It's the fourth time it's happened. Keldor has somehow managed to trip over ... something, but when he looks around, he sees nothing about him that could've tripped him. And it doesn't help that the ruins aren't really properly lit. At least in this section anyways.

This is starting to get annoying, and his Klefki is about to get away, too.

Well. Today's the day.

Keldor's currently in the Pokemon Center [he'd just been to the Mart to stock up on supplies] at the computer, going over all the pokemon he's currently got. Tomorrow he sets off for Route 32 and Azalea Town, but it's gonna be a hike, and as there are no places to heal up in-between, which pokemon to take with you is important. Strong enough to not require too much patching up, but not so strong as to kill everything you encounter while en-route, either we do want to catch a few things along the way, after all.

Keldor decides that his Hisuian Growlithe, Asama, meets the criteria for "strong, but not too strong", and that Kishiko the Goldeen can come, too, as she isn't "too strong" either.

As for the rest of the party, it's gonna be the lower-leveled 'mons who get picked, but he doesn't know which ones to choose, as he has several of them.

But whatever decision he makes, he'd better do it before nightfall and the Crobats start to come out looking to nom on anything they can get their teeth into. 'Cause that would be bad.

"Great! I hope that will work out for you."

He would be curious too.

"As do I."

Whatever he learns, he'll put to use; magic or no.

Keldor's not the sort to spend much time wallowing in self-pity. He's at his happiest when he has something productive to do with his time.

Radley feels similarly. He likes to put his mind to things to stay occupied when he's upset.

Evie warbles. She is anxious to meet Keldor's Klefki in person.

Radley chuckles and pets her. "Well, we'd better let you get some sleep."

"Sleep?"

He looks about. It is dark now.

"Are you suggesting I get my rest early tonight?"

It's not a bad idea, since he'll likely have to get up early tomorrow to make the most of the limited daylight at this time of year.

[crystalmaster]

"Ah, no, not necessarily. I just thought maybe you'd be wanting to sleep by now."

It had been a big day.

"It is not a bad suggestion, though. The days are shorter now and I would prefer to do my traveling while it is still light out."

It'll also be exhausting, so best to get as much rest as one can before starting another road trip.

[crystalmaster]

"True. Yeah, I don't like night travel much."

He didn't care for on-foot travel at all, but even less so at night.

When he had Panthor he could rely on the cat's instincts to sense any hidden dangers they might happen across.

"I would not mind it much had I Panthor to help me out."

Here, Keldor has to rely on his own skills to avoid anything hazardous, and it's easier to spot them in the daytime.

[crystalmaster]

"I was thinking you still had him, but he was a lot smaller?"

Or maybe Radley is remembering wrong. There are so many to keep track of....

"I thought I did, but perhaps I was mistaken."

Hey, it happens.

[crystalmaster]

Radley winces. "That's tough. I'm sorry."

[behindblueskin]

"I had hoped that perhaps he might have made the journey here."

But he's wandering Eternia instead, doubtless wondering where his master is, or taking comfort from Lyn.

Lyn...

He misses her, too.

[crystalmaster]

"I know that feeling," Radley says sympathetically. "It's rough not to have special friends with you."

"Vee ..." Evie says, and cuddles close.

[behindblueskin]

"Special friends. Yes."

His pet. His allies. They're all special to him.

And Lyn. Lyn is particularly special.

Special enough to require a lot of busy work to keep himself from moping so much he won't be able to leave for the next town.

[crystalmaster]

"Will you be okay?" Radley asks. He recognizes the onset of this mood. He has been there many times himself.

[behindblueskin]

"I will be well," he assures, trying very hard to not think of things he can't do very much about. If Lyn comes to this world he will be happy. If not then he will just have to accept that.

Try to accept that.

[crystalmaster]

Radley smiles sadly. "Okay. Well, I'm here if you wanna talk."

[behindblueskin]

"Do not worry. I will be certain to discuss this matter with you should the need arise."

He knows he's got someone who will listen to him about anything should he want to talk about it.

[crystalmaster]

"Good," Radley says.

"Eevee-vee-vee!" Evie warbles. She likes to help too.

[behindblueskin]

"Yes, I will talk to you, too," he says to Evie, feeling a bit more cheered up now. If she can be positive, so can he. "If you like."

And who knows? Keldor may yet get his wish, if he's willing to wait for it.

[crystalmaster]

"Vee!" Evie says proudly.

Radley smiles and pets her. "Evie and the others are great comforts."

[behindblueskin]

"Yes. They certainly are."

He pauses for a moment.

"I think I shall take an early rest. Make sure I am ready. But first, I will locate a store that is still open and get my extra blankets."

Then get back to the hotel, get something to eat, then get to bed.

Long day ahead and all that

[crystalmaster]

"That's a good plan," Radley says.

[behindblueskin]

"And it will be, provided I carry it out."

Which means it's time for him to get going.

"Good journey, Radley."

[crystalmaster]

He smiles. "Good journey."

His Pokemon all chorus too.
