A Cup of Kindness That We Share With Another (Voltron Holiday Party Log)

After last year’s party turned out to be a smash hit, of course they’re hosting again. Invitations would’ve been sent out a few weeks beforehand, including offers to pay for Ubirds or personally ferry people to Four Island and plenty of guest rooms to sleep in, since they know it’s a long way to travel for a single party.

When people arrive, the spacious beach house is decked out with lights, mostly in shades of blue, and the interior beckons people to come out of the brisk and damp sub-tropic air, warm and bright and spacious (which it needs to be with the possible crowds), soft and cheery Poké-holiday music winding through the rooms. Occasionally you might catch Allura’s Primarina Celina quietly hum along, but only until she notices someone’s listening in.

Now that Hunk is here this year, the spread is amazing. Rich and spicy Kanto style curry, a milder vegetarian curry, or a Samoan chicken coconut curry to go over rice, mushroom and kabocha gratin, chop suey, skewers featuring coconut shrimp and pineapple or miso-glazed roasted veggies, musubi shaped to look like Pokéballs, mini quiches in savory and sweet flavors, among many other treats. The dessert section includes but is certainly not limited to a wide variety of Christmas cookies, fruit pieces dipped in chocolate and crushed sandwich cookies Hunk has dubbed meow chow, an adorable little Christmas cake, at least three different pies including a spectacular apple, and fa’ausi: a sweet, caramelized coconut bread pudding. Shiro is once again on drink duty, and the liquid refreshments feature mugs of coffee and hot chocolate, slow cookers of mulled wine and apple juice, and the return of the bright blue Grogory Day punch. And of course plenty of Pokémon treats to go around. And if guests want to contribute to the feast, they’re more than welcome!

(Also, Shiro’s Gallade Blue has taken up his idol’s sword and planted mistletoe here and there around the house. Do with this what you will.)

So come, eat, drink, mingle with old friends and make some new ones! And enjoy the night, no matter which holiday you’ve come to celebrate!

[Romelle was quite excited to have another go at their combined holiday party. It felt nice to share and combine their various traditions together like this. And they had new people to join them, which made it all the nicer. Granted, some friends weren't there this year, but such was the nature of a situation like this, she supposed.

Dressed in an appropriate sweater for the evening, Romelle was helping with greeting and welcoming visitors. She was doing her best to make sure each person received a compliment for the evening, as was the tradition for Grogery Day with Alteans, and she was helping with food, having been learning from Hunk through his restaurant.]

[For most of the evening, Allura has mostly been her calm, diplomatic self, albeit more relaxed with the familiar company. At the moment though, she seems a little frazzled.]

Ah, Romelle. Forgive me, but have you seen Blue recently?

[Not for any particular reason, of course...]

Shiro's Gallade? [She frowned a bit, and then shook her head.] Not since he was peeking out the window over there earlier. [She nodded towards where the window shade had been drawn to hide a particular sprig of mistletoe she didn't know about.] I was wondering what he was watching.

Oh Anc--I mean! ... It's... I'm just curious, but um... do let us know if you see him, please?

[.... Yeah no, Allura hasn't been this obviously hiding something since before she and Keith got together. Her deception skills have not improved either. And who's "us?"]

[Romelle raised an eyebrow.]

Is there something I should know about? Did he do something wrong?

[Okay. That was an odd response, but Romelle nodded and followed. Somewhat concerned now.]

Is everything all right?

[Once they're far enough away from the party, Allura turns around and speaks in a hushed voice.]

No... Keith and I were having... a private moment... and Blue somehow found us. And recorded it.

Ooooh... [Romelle looked a little... well, conspiratorial suddenly.] what it a good moment, at least?

[Yup! Romelle had a feeling she was on to something now.]

Wait... you might also be what? [Did Allura say what Romelle thought she said? PokéWorld's humanization process had limited her normal Altean hearing down to human levels. She still had slightly better hearing just because she had been able to keep the shape of her ears, but it wasn't quite to what she was used to, and she might have misheard that last word...

She had to be sure.]

[Not helped that Allura was mumbling and hoping (vainly) that Romelle would drop it.]

... Keith proposed marriage to me and I accepted. There, now you MUST keep it a secret until we announce it ourselves.

Eeee! [Romelle squealed a little bit, but managed to keep it under control.] Congratulations!!! [She bounced a little in place from excitement. Still, she was managing to keep her voice somewhat hushed, at least.] So, then... do you think Blue was able to record the actual proposal?

Most likely. However, we would prefer to tell people any other way BESIDES some random footage being posted for all the Gear to see.

[Especially since that proposal was followed by a very intense snog.]

Well, yes... of course. I can understand that. It's a big piece of news! [She also knew that Allura and Keith tended to be very private about themselves and their relationship.] And it only happened tonight? Was this planned at all?

No, it wasn’t. We went on the porch to… talk… and Keith proposed to me out of the blue.

[questioneverything]

[Romelle raised an eyebrow at how Allura said, "talk," but let it pass for now because...]

That still sounds crazy romantic. Just like... the inspiration struck and poof! He wanted to marry you and spend the rest of his life with you! How exciting!
