[The video opens to Bucciarati with a new friend on his lap--a Maschiff, currently fast asleep.

Bucciarati takes a moment or two to adjust the camera, then smiles.]

Hello and happy new year, everyone. I've got a question or two for you all. First--as someone who's had very little in the way of hobbies, even before coming here, I'm looking for some suggestions. [A beat.] Given the time of year and the weather, things that require minimal going outside preferred, but I'll gladly hear other suggestions for later.

Secondly, as someone who has trouble relaxing, any advice or ideas on that particular front would be welcome. I'm starting to realize I may need it.

[Carly says nothing. Her house has been vacated, cleaned, etc.

She waves a set of pamphlets, and possibly even receipts, at the screen.

[Relaxation? Oh yes, he's got this.]

Turning on the TV is always the first step to relaxing. StaryuTube is great if you're traveling, because you can get it on the 'Gear, and it'll get the job done. And once it gets warm, try fishing. [Except, right, fish here fight back more than back home.] Actually, no, just get in a boat. If you have a strong enough water-type Pokemon, you might not even have to do much rowing to get to a good spot. Ooh, and then it can fight off any Pokemon living in the water that give you a hard time!

There's the spa in Cherrygrove, and shopping in Goldenrod's department store. Those are good ones. And I guess you could try cooking or, I don't know, learning an instrument? I know people who say those kind of things are relaxing, and they'd count as hobbies, too.

If you get any good suggestions, let me know. I don't really have any hobbies myself outside of Duel Monsters and I can't fully engage with that since they don't sell the cards here.

[He also has no good suggestions for relaxing because boy ruminates far too much for his own good.]

Oh, my goodness, what a cute new friend...

[Naeva got distracted, she is holding her greavard in her arms. Naeva? Naeva. But she does cough after a moment.]

Knitting or crocheting might not be a bad choice. Most places have the basic supplies you need, and additionally it can be quite soothing.

I don't know, I've always found hypothermia quite relaxing.

[Radley looks very relaxed being snuggled by Pokemon.]

Happy New Year!

I like reading, cooking, and motorcycling. I'm still sore the latter can't be done here. Of course, this wouldn't be good weather for it anyway.

Playing with the Pokemon is a fun thing I can usually do inside, although with Sapphire Stardust, it's better to ... not do that.

[He indicates a Galarian Ponyta.]

Usually my hobbies are what I do to relax, so ... two birds with one stone?

Oh yes, cooking. That's something I need to get on...

It's a trading card game in my world that relies on strategy and a bit of luck. There's a few of us that play it here. My deck needs serious revamping though.

I've always liked practical hobbies, but it's the wrong season for gardening.

[The ghost doggo barks a bit, and she smiles.]

I'm thinking of breeding this one, I'm sure a lot of people would want one? They're so cute, everyone should.

I guess if you enjoy it, it can be?

It's a lot of fun if you enjoy being creative and trying different ideas out. There's so many differen decks you can build depending on the strategy you want to try or the monster theme you want to go with.

[A sip of her drink, and-] We still have to get there though. Are you still sitting tight in Saffron?
talkyourwayout: (It's a COMPLIMENT)

[personal profile] talkyourwayout 2023-01-05 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, you're probably not alone in that. I mean, I've pretty much realized by now that a lot of people here aren't big on relaxing. The amount of people who didn't understand why I didn't want to climb a bunch of ladders at Sprout Tower made that clear early.

[It's been like a year, if not more, and he's still clearly not over it.]

[Louie snickers.]

Definitely! I'd say more hope than for most adults I know.
