( there is a petite, blue haired young lady crouched down with her arms draped over her knees to be at the same level as the fennekin whom is sitting just in front of its trainer. for the time being, they simply stare at one another as though locked in some powerfully important staring contest. they remain as such for some time, in silence, until amaterasu finally shifts her footing which causes the fennekin to peer down at her moving feet. )

So.

( amaterasu lifts a hand from her knee and, as fennekin looks up again, presses the pad of her finger in a light "boop" to its nose. )

You are now Amaterasu's partner, yes?

( the fennekin nods.

to people passing by or simply noticing it, the exchange is a little... odd. but given the way she just sort of arrived in a house that wasn't hers, waking in a bed that also certainly wasn't hers, to a mother who was lacking in the "hers" department also... perhaps it isn't as odd a thing as it could be. )

What is Amaterasu meant to do with you now? Do you like to nap? Amaterasu likes to nap, we could try that, maybe?

You don't have to take the battle path if you don't want to. But even if you're a breeder, wild Pokemon and Trainers will still try to get you to fight sometimes.

That's okay, Amaterasu is fine with fighting! It would help if Amaterasu had her fiyah abilities but I will make do.

( she waves her hand a bit as though dismissing the idea that she could possibly lose a battle and acting as though she's the bees knees in spite of having no idea how to a) train fennekin or b) what the moveset the pokémon has. )

But, uh, how does Amaterasu make Fennekin fight...

You tell Fennekin what attacks to use and when, so first you need to find out what moves he knows.

( sorry, she's from a time where cameras aren't a thing. the pokégear is very strange and confusing to her. )

It's a moving picture that you can look at any time you want. Like this.

[He shows a video he took of some of his Pokemon running around and being silly.]

You can take videos of Fennekin and always play back the cute things she does.

( even though she's akin with magic this is amazing to her. she leans into it closer to watch and when the video ends, because she has no idea what personal space is ( and if allowed ) she presses the playback button again. )

( fennekin hears the warbling and flutters her tails a bit before heading over to evie. she trills as she gets closer and beams! she wants to play, too! )

Oh... Look, they're going to be friends!

[Radley starts recording a new video.

Evie moves to run and play Tag.]

( she decides that this is probably one of the best times to try and work the video thing on her pokégear and so she fiddles with it and after a few failed attempts, she manages to catch on film the moment where fennekin bounces after evie in order to catch her and get the game of tag going. )

How competitive! They are both good at running!

Amaterasu is supposed to train this baby Fenrir ( it's not fenrir, ama. ) to battle! It is like training to run about, yes?

[Evie is delighted and happy to be It! She starts to chase!]

More like train her to use her attacks in battle. Is Fenrir her name?

[He knows the mythology, at least a little, and just assumes it's the name chosen.]

( fennekin trills as she runs from evie but not fast enough she can't be caught to keep the game going. )

Huh, Amaterasu never thought of that... Yes, Fenrir is a good name for her!

[Sooner or later there is an enthusiastic pounce.

Yeah, it is. You're into Norse mythology?

( fennekin trills and rolls about with evie!

amaterasu blinks at him. it's not "mythology" where she comes from. fenrir is very much a proper being in her world. )

What do you mean? Fenrir is one of the beasts that the Rune Wielder has made friends with on the journey to stopping Ragnarok. He's much bigger than this little baby Fenrir, but, so is Garm and he's powerful! So Amaterasu thinks she will be too.

Oh, my mistake. Where I come from, there's stories about Fenrir that have been around for centuries. And yes, I'm sure this Fenrir will grow up very big and strong.
