[Video/Action] New Bark Town - Introduction

[As the video feed switches on, there is a very timid and frightened girl on the screen. She's sitting on the bed in the house that she woke up in a day or so ago. After meeting up with a strange old man, being given a ball and this gear, she was lost, upset and ended up back at the very same house. A kind woman has taken her back in but it's quite clear that the woman was now hoping the young girl would soon set out on her journey. Like the others...

There was a skiddo on the bed next to her, her head resting on her lap and watching up at her with wide eyes. This skiddo has felt Prim's loneliness and pain. She feels it every time Prim runs her hand over her horns. And she didn't know how to make her trainer feel better.

Prim's making this Gear post out because of the suggestion of the kind woman. If there was somebody she was desperately looking for, this would be the way.

There were tears brimming on her eyes as she tries to stare into the camera of her gear.]

Katniss...? They said that...if you were here, you would see this and contact me. I don't know where I am...and last time...

[Her voice catches for a moment and she tries to clear her throat.]

Last time I saw you...they were forcing you onto that train. And...I really want to see you again.

Please come take me home....

[There is a moment that the video hangs as she tries to figure out how to turn off the recording and just before the clip ends, you could faintly hear her begin to cry, with the skiddo making soft soothing sounds towards her]

[ooc: I promise Prim won't always be so sad. She just needs some love at the moment! She will desperately pick up any messages sent to her gear in the hopes that it's her sister. Or if anybody would like to coax her out into the world, please visit her in the random house in New Bark Town that she's hiding in!]

I...I think so?

[Truthfully, she hasn't really paid attention to much that the kind lady has told her. Once in a while she recalls things like "journey" or "it will be fun" and then she gets given some food. That's the one thing keeping her here. There is a constant supply of food. Something she wasn't able to rely on back at home.

It made her reluctant to leave. And back home, there was definitely not enough money for a luxury like a book.]

What's...a wonderland..? If I find it then I can go back home...?

[The promise to not leave her on her own sounded a little more frightening than it should have been. Why was everybody so nice here? The confusion and slight panic shows very clearly on her face as he struggles with this idea of a strange group of people all coming to her rescue.]

[ It doesn't help that her manner of dress is a bit flamboyant. Rosa doesn't mean to come off as suspicious but aiding children is something she's still learning to do. ]

I do. [ Looking towards Caine in the water, she motions for him to come forth. Sudden Dratini peeking over the shoulder and everything. ]

I could have my friend here deliver them to you if you feel unwell. [ If she's been in that room, then perhaps she hasn't left at all. Rosa won't approach herself, but the snake-like dragon could in her stead. ] He's gentle even if he would have you believe otherwise.

[ Yang's brows shoot up. Clearly there was some miscommunication there and, because of it, the girl seems more alarmed than distraught.

Way to go, Yang. Can't even try and cheer up a poor lost kid. Why do you even bother?

She quickly shakes her head, clearing it and also showing the girl that, no, she misspoke. ] No. No, no, god I'm sorry. I don't know anything about any of that, and I haven't heard anyone with that name... I just — you talked about a train and, well, no one's done that kind of stuff around here before.

Sorry.

[She settles down onto her bed in a more comfortable sitting position, her skiddo now resting on her lap and also watching the screen. Prim was getting a little excited to see what kind of cat was going to come on the screen when --]

It's blue! The cats here are blue...?

[Her eyes widen as she backs away from the screen just a little, unsure of what to think. This definitely didn't look like her buttercup. There was a little frown which was more out of confusion than anything.]

[There have been so many people offering to come over and look after her. It was a little frightening trying to figure out what everybody wanted. The only person she could trust until now was Katniss. What if these people were trying to get her out of this house for the reaping? Maybe...maybe there was a technical rule that she had to go after all. She curls up in a little tight ball, the gear propped on a pillow in front of her. But she does summon up enough courage to talk about her sister.]

Katniss has really pretty dark brown hair. She ties it up as a big long plait. She's really brave and strong and ... when she talks everybody people listen to her.

[There was a hint of a smile the more she talked about Katniss. When she's done, she watches intently into the gear camera.]

Are you from the Capitol...?

[Oh. She settles back down onto the bed now, disappointed by the response. In her original video, she was rambling and couldn't quite remember what she had said. There was a moment of hope when Yang talked about the train that maybe...she would be able to at least make sure Katniss got through the games.

Her gaze now settles back down onto the bed, there is a little sigh. Her voice was very soft as she continues to talk. Truthfully, Prim wasn't sure why she was talking about this but...sometimes talking makes her feel better even though usually it's only with Katniss.]

After the reaping, you get put onto the train...and they take you to the Capitol. They start with twenty four and...only one person gets to come home...

[The gear is now propped up on a pillow, pushed into that position by Lady as she pulls her knees up to her chest and hides her face. The skiddo is staring at the monitor as if desperately trying to find a way for her trainer to cheer up. Skiiii....]

Not all of them, but this one is!

_{[Wrath's pale little and appears in the frame, patting the sleepy Luxray's mane without a trace of fear.]}

His name is, um, Xerxes.

He makes the air staticky when he shakes his mane.

[She shifts a little, as if looking at the screen at a different angle would let her see more of the pokemon in question. Prim still wasn't the most knowledgeable when it comes to this technology business.]

You said there's...water...?

[She hasn't seen the ocean before. The idea of the water and something sweet did start to sound enticing.]

[Making the air staticky sounded really strange but it made a little sense. If she spent too long brushing Buttercup, sometimes things would stick to him. Maybe this was the same thing.

The fact that he was able to pat the giant blue ball without anything bad happening started to interest her.]

Can I...pat him too..?

[On her feet and hands in the air!! Mafuyu can't believe this overwhelming kindness, see those tears in her eyes?]

Toilet toilet toilet~

[And she literally skips off after the Skiddo, completely ignoring the mood, closing the door behind her when she reaches the bathroom. Being able to relieve herself feels great! Being alive feels great!]

Hey! [She shouts to Prim from inside the bathroom over the sound of water running over her hands.] You still out there? [They didn't... leave her behind at the open front door, did they?]

[ Oh, a smile! That's a sign that they're getting somewhere. The sight is enough to make Minako smile, too. ]

I guess that's where you get it from, huh? You're being really strong and brave, too.

[ Which was true, as far as Minako was concerned. Sure, the girl was frightened and disoriented - who wouldn't be? - but she seemed to be handling the situation as well as she could, and that was what Minako considered being brave. ]

I promise you I'll keep a look out for your sister. If I see her, I'll let you know first thing, okay? [ A promise that she intended to keep. Minako didn't see anyone who fit that description around New Bark Town, but she wasn't about to give up hope. Just like she was brought here, she had a strong feeling that this Katniss would arrive, too. Now, what else should she say to help this girl calm down...? ]

Have you given your friend a name yet?

[ Neither is Rosa which is why her own angles are off a bit. While her hand is steady, she hasn't quite grasped the concept of showing rather than telling. She holds the device like one would when they were intent on watching something, not recording themselves. ]

Yes, there is plenty of it. [ At least for such a small town there is. ] The town appears to be along the coast of some sea.

[Luna can't blame the girl for doing that; she probably expected to see the person she mentioned before, the one named Katniss. As much as she'd like to reassure Prim that Katniss sure will come to take care of her, she can't do that. Prim said herself: the person she wanted to see was forced to go somewhere by train, so they may not even be anywhere around.]

Prim...it's such a beautiful name. I'm a bit jealous, even...!

[Smiling softly at the girl on the other side, Luna waits for her answer, but when it becomes clear that she's hesitating, she adds:]

If you'd like to be just by yourself, that's fine too. Even though technically you're not alone. Your Pokémon is there with you...but if you'd like to see someone, I'll be around.

[She doesn't mean to end the feed just yet, however.]

Does your Pokémon have a name? And what species is it, do you happen to know that?

Okay, New Bark's a real safe place. And there's gonna be a lot of people who just got here, like you. You probably want to find somebody to travel with. If you cant find anybody there, I want you to tell me. 'Cause I ain't letting no little girl wandering on the road by herself, that ain't right.

[He sighs. Poor kid. He wishes he had something better to tell her.]

Wonderland's a magic place in this book some British guy wrote. The book's about a little girl who falls into this whole other world, where everything's magic and different and she has an adventure and meets all kinds of new friends before she finds her way back home. So this place? It's like Wonderland. You fell in here, and now you get to meet new friends and have fun adventures.

But I don't know how to get home. Sometimes people just...go home. We can't do it ourselves. I'm sorry. But hey, we're all in this together.

[ There are many horrible implications there, but in a combination of not wanting to freak herself or this girl out, and being absorbed in her own problems from home, Yang doesn't dwell on them. Not yet. She can still sound sure of a lot though, because this world is way too good to people in a general sense to be involved in anything like that. ]

There's definitely nothing like that happening here. It's safe. You're safe, and if anyone you know arrived here with you, they're safe too. [ Yang got all that out without pause, so she stopped to take a breath. Easy there. ]

...the only fighting here is done by Pokémon.

Okay, I got it on lockdown. I'll let you know if I see her, don't worry. And, uh...the Capitol?

[Jimmy echoes, a look of confusion crossing his face. That's got to be where Prim is from.]

Nah, I'm 'fraid not. Is that where you're from?

[She had quietly followed the extremely upbeat girl and stopped just short of the corridor before the bathroom. Prim fidgets there, unsure of what she should be doing. She was in somebody else's house and now she had let a complete stranger in but...to be fair, that stranger seemed like she was really desperate.

When the voice calls out through the door, she's startled for a moment before being able to answer in a small, hesitant voice.]

Y-yes! Hi. Um...

[What was she supposed to say? Glad you got to pee?]

[She shakes her head at the mention of being brave. There was no way she would be able to be compared to her sister. Katniss was definitely in a league of her own. She settles down into the bed, chewing on her lower lip lightly and appearing slightly anxious.]

Okay. Katniss would definitely want to see me...

[She was sure of it. At the query about the name of her skiddo she looks down at her pokemon.]

Lady. I had a goat back at home...she was also called Lady.

[That would probably work. But when Mafuyu hears a voice answer outside, she nudges the faucet closed with her elbow and opens the door with dripping hands. Not because there aren't any towels in the room, but so she can flick water at Prim's face as if she's never matured from primary school.]

You awake now?

[It was really easy to read the hesitation all across her face as she struggles with staying inside the safe house and venturing outside but there was water outside. There were sweets outside and this person has been kind enough to chat to her this entire time.

With Lady by her side, nothing could go wrong, right? She glances off to the side of the screen for a while, towards the door of the room and then back to the camera.]

How...how will I find you?

[The compliment for her name made her smile just slightly. She did like the flower that she was named after. She reaches up and tugs at one of her braids as she continues to watch the feed. She would...like to meet this person. Everybody was so nice to her but..

She takes a deep breath now and the concern starts to show again.]

She's a skiddo. I named her Lady.

[Like my goat back home. She thought to herself. Then, despite how nervous she felt, she did want to continue this conversation a little bit more.]

Do...do you have one too?

[The story about wonderland was so magical and happy that she finds herself clinging to it. She desperately wanted to believe that she had somehow fallen into this magical world and all she had to do was take a step out that door. She can be seen now glancing towards that very door, still hesitating and then glancing back at the screen.

Then she says the one thing that comes to mind that she really likes about this new wonderland.]

There's...there's a lot of food here.

[Which may seem something so obvious but she hasn't felt hunger since she's arrived thanks to the nice lady of this house. A feeling she has never lived without since being born.]

If...if I leave here...

[There was a small squeak from her as she other girl returns and she finds her face being showered on by little flicks of water. This girl was definitely strange but not completely unwelcome. There was a permanent crease of concern on her forehead as she looks at Mafuyu.]

I..yes...There are towels in the bathroom.

[She wasn't sure if perhaps she should be going into the bathroom to get one for the other girl.]

[She stared blankly into the gear for a moment and then shakes her head before clinging to her skiddo.]

Lady can't do any fighting...

[She is now hugging onto her skiddo as if protecting her fiercely from anything this world can throw at them. Her one friend that has been here since she has arrived. She would never let anything happen to Lady.]

She...she needs to stay here with me...where it's safe...

Nn? Don't need them.

[She's got perfectly nice shorts she can dry her hands on, rubbing them up and down the fabric as she looks around Prim for the Pokemon that helped lead her here.]

How come you're still here? I mean, it's nice and quiet and cool, but everyone's outside! There's no one else to play with in here.
