[Video/Action] New Bark Town - Introduction

[As the video feed switches on, there is a very timid and frightened girl on the screen. She's sitting on the bed in the house that she woke up in a day or so ago. After meeting up with a strange old man, being given a ball and this gear, she was lost, upset and ended up back at the very same house. A kind woman has taken her back in but it's quite clear that the woman was now hoping the young girl would soon set out on her journey. Like the others...

There was a skiddo on the bed next to her, her head resting on her lap and watching up at her with wide eyes. This skiddo has felt Prim's loneliness and pain. She feels it every time Prim runs her hand over her horns. And she didn't know how to make her trainer feel better.

Prim's making this Gear post out because of the suggestion of the kind woman. If there was somebody she was desperately looking for, this would be the way.

There were tears brimming on her eyes as she tries to stare into the camera of her gear.]

Katniss...? They said that...if you were here, you would see this and contact me. I don't know where I am...and last time...

[Her voice catches for a moment and she tries to clear her throat.]

Last time I saw you...they were forcing you onto that train. And...I really want to see you again.

Please come take me home....

[There is a moment that the video hangs as she tries to figure out how to turn off the recording and just before the clip ends, you could faintly hear her begin to cry, with the skiddo making soft soothing sounds towards her]

[ooc: I promise Prim won't always be so sad. She just needs some love at the moment! She will desperately pick up any messages sent to her gear in the hopes that it's her sister. Or if anybody would like to coax her out into the world, please visit her in the random house in New Bark Town that she's hiding in!]

You can take food with you! In the backpack you got. I bet there's already some in there for you.

You don't gotta worry about going hungry around here.

Just...don't eat any berries growing wild. They ain't good for people.

[ That move surprises Yang, only because she's seen what a lot of different beasts here can do. Cute or not, they cam whoop some serious butt, and it's good that they don't target people often enough to worry about. ]

She's tougher than she looks. All of them are. Just... here, lemme show you.

[ Yang turned her head to the side, and gave a quick whistle. ] Hey, Jolty. You awake...?

[ On command, a four-inch yellow fuzzy spider-tick emerges from within Yang's less-than-kempt mane. The Joltik slowly untangles itself and perches upon the left shoulder, looking curiously between her trainer and the 'gear. ] See this little gal? Jolty can shoot a web that slows the biggest, meanest Pokémon out there. She runs circles around them after that.

[ Jolty raises its head up, then angles its body downward in a display that's probably supposed to convey a sense of pride. This has to be reassuring, right? ]

... Well, no.

You're not here.

I don't know where you are.

_{[He doesn't say this derisively or accusingly. Just matter-of-factly, as though he was stating that she had blond hair or was a girl or any other random benign observation.]}

... But if you ever come to the house of my friends, you can. Xerxes likes being petted.

Lady, huh? That's a cute name.

[ Minako gives her a bright smile. She's doing everything she can to try and keep this girl calm, but she's running out of options. She doesn't dare ask about the girl's home, recalling that on her initial post, she spoke about her sister being forced onto a train. It doesn't sound pleasant from the sounds of it, so she hopes that talking about Pokémon will help the girl open up a bit more. ]

Would you like to see mine? Her name's Aimi.

[Luna's backup plan was to talk about the Primrose plants, but it didn't seem to be necessary for the time being as Prim seemed to be willing to talk for a little bit longer.]

Lady is a very dignified name, I like it very much! I still have to name my Pokémon, but don't worry, I'm not going to use your idea.

[Then, she adjusts the angle so Prim could see her Audino, sitting beside Luna.]

Yes, it's an Audino. She's a little overprotective, but she's really friendly.

[Audino waves at the camera just like she wanted to confirm Luna's words.]

[She goes very quiet for a moment, her gaze shifting along the sheets beneath her. After a few moments, she's finally able to respond.]

I'm from Panem. Where I'm from, the world... [...as she knows it.]

...is divided into districts. The capitol is where the people have lots of nice things and food.

[Food was the important thing really.]

I'm from district 12. We don't ... have very much there.

[Her eyes widened slightly at the response. This girl was definitely unique. When the outside was mentioned, Lady sidled up to Prim and nudged her lightly with her nose.]

It's nice in here...there's food here.

[She's only been given the standard meals but she's never had so much food in her life.]

But when I run out of food, I don't know how to hunt for more.

[She's tried. Katniss took her hunting once and she tried to save the life of the animal that was shot with the bow and arrow.]

What do I do when I can't eat the berries?

[She'll have to try and remember to not eat those berries but if she got hungry then all bets were off.]

[She watches the little display and hugs onto her skiddo even tighter now, shaking her head.]

If Lady gets hurt then I'll be by myself again. So...she can't do any fighting. That's when people get hurt...

[...and then they never get to go home.]

Don't you get scared when you see your friend fighting?

I'm...in that place that people appear in when they come here.

[Or so that's what she's been told.]

They keep telling me to leave and that I need to go on a big adventure but I don't want to leave.

It's safer in here.

[She looks around the small house that she's stayed in.]

But...I do want to go to your house and pat Xerxes too.

Really?

[That grabs Mafuyu's attention too. While she's never been starved for food, they're still one of her favorite things and she never passes the chance to snack. Where to get food when they're out travelling is a concern that's been on her mind too, but as long as she stays close to this girl and this house, it looks like she can be let back inside to stock up.]

Show me where! We can take some to go, and play outside today! We'll be back before dark!

Guess what? You don't gotta.

Every town's got a building called a Pokemon Center. It's the big building with the bright red roof. You go there, you tell'em you're a young Trainer and you had a rough trip, and they'll take care of you.

And every time your Pokemon meets another Pokemon and they challenge each other, if your Pokemon wins, you get money. And you can buy all the food you want!

And if you need a place to stay, you just tell me. I got a house in Goldenrod, and I know all the good hotels.

[And there's just something about young girls that brings out the big brother in Jimmy.]

[ Now see, Yang had a momentary flash of memory when the girl said that. She clamped her eyes shut.

"Get away from her!!!"

No, Yang. Not that friend. ]

It... kind of weirded me out at first. A lot of things here did. But I used to get excited when it came time to battle the gym leaders. [ She shook her head. ] Lady won't leave you. Pokémon never really get hurt they just... get tired. [ Yang smirked, her tone dry. ] I know that sounds like such a line, right? Like something you tell a little kid just so they think their pets can't die but. I mean it. I've been fighting with my crew for four months and they've never so much as sprained a paw or singed a feather. I promise.

[Hm...Jimmy's unfamiliar with the concept of districts, but he does know about different areas of a town. It's weird, since his entire world seemed to consist of one, giant city.]

Gotcha. Yeah, I'm sorry...I'm from someplace else. Someplace that's, uh...a lot different from here.

[She doesn't need to know that his town is called "Miseryville", after all.]

I dunno how things are like there otherwise, but things are safe here. There's a lot of work going on with people trying to get the cities and routes cleaned up, but otherwise? It's a nice place, here.

Really? When I got here, I was in a big building and I had to stay for awhile. _{[But that's the secret Rocket HQ policy so shhhhh.]}

I'm in a city where all the buildings are yellow.

If you go there, there's a house that I live in sometimes and that's where Xerxes is. There's lots of other Pokemon here too.

[The distraction was a good one and Prim was beginning to open up to talking more to this stranger on her little monitor thing. She tips her head a little and then nods.]

Aimi...sounds like a really cute name. Is yours like Lady?

[She's seen a few pokemon but really, how many types could there be?]

[Her eyes widen slightly at the pokemon that appears on screen and she can't help but shift a little like she's trying to see more. Well, that's not really how cameras work but she's never used one before.]

Can I....

[There was a pause that lasts quite a few moments as she struggles to find the courage to ask the rest of the question.]

Can I meet her..?

[Take some to go...and then come back before dark...that was something she had never considered before and going outside seemed way too frightening but maybe..maybe with this person. Without saying a word for now, Prim leads the way into the small dining room in the house, there was a small arrangements of snack and the meal that had been cooked earlier already packed up in a bento for her journey.

Prim just hasn't packed it into her bag yet as she hadn't considered leaving the house. It's only now she looks carefully at the other girl.]

Is there a lot of fun things out there?

[Her eyes widen at the idea of being fed no matter where she was going. This definitely was different from back home. It does make her feel a little more confident to leave but the idea of challenging pokemon...this wasn't the first time somebody has told her about it. Her voice is very soft when she speaks, hesitating about this plan.]

That means Lady needs to fight...doesn't it? And it means Lady could get hurt.

[She really doesn't like the idea of her pokemon getting into any kind of battle and was definitely dead set on stopping this no matter what.]

[She shook her head. She had seen what it's like when animals get hurt. When animals get shot with arrows. Prim knew that back at home, this is something that needed to be done. Otherwise, how would they eat? But it wasn't something she enjoyed in any capacity. Her entire core belief was about healing and protecting.]

How do they fight without getting hurt...?

[Her voice was really quiet, not really believing. This had to be some kind of trick. But the person she was speaking to seemed so sincere and...the pokemon earlier seemed quite happy. Even so...]

I don't think...I would be any good...

[She nods quietly at the last piece of information provided. The kind lady that gave her food would tell her a little bit about what was happening on the route leading out of town. Telling her that she really should start her journey already but be more careful. A high level pokemon rampaging probably shouldn't be taken lightly even if they can't get injured here.]

People have been telling me that Lady has to fight....

[She trails off not really sure on how to lead onto the next topic. How do you talk about not wanting to let her pokemon fight at all when everybody else is saying it's a good thing?]

Well....kinda.

But it's not like fighting fighting. It's more like...like athletes, or boxers. They know what they're doing, it's what they like to do, they don't get bad hurt or anything.

I thought it sounded really cruel when I first heard about it. I tried to keep Omi from fighting, he's my starter. But he got mad at me! 'Cause I was trying to treat him like a pet or something, and he's not my pet. He's my friend. And he loves to battle. And now he's all grown up and battles all the time!

Lots and lots!

[Mafuyu promises this pretty idly, rifling through the cabinets for any packaged snacks that will last. Mostly sweet things and breadstuff, a little bit here and there so it isn't so apparent at first glance that the kitchen and dining area is being robbed.

She looks over at Prim, handing over a part of what she's gathered to hold onto.]

There's water on one side of the town, a bit salty like the ocean. On the other side, it's trees and fields with all sorts of Pokemon and berries and people! Your partner looks like to be right at home in a field, but where do you want to play?

Like I said, they're tough. It ... it doesn't make sense, I know, but it works. You can ask anyone. Watch some fights. I'd show you but, uh, I'm not in a good place to do that. [ A pause. ] I'm about two weeks away from New Bark if that's where you still are. [ Nice save, Yang. ]

Of course! She'll be happy to meet you, I'm sure of it.

[Audino presses her face against the screen like she wanted to take a better look at Prim and make sure that her greeting got through (even though it doesn't work like that).]

I can walk her over to your house soon, just please tell me in which house we may find you.

[Technically, Luna wasn't invited but she's not bothered by it at all.]
