So he's not even going to showcase the eggs he's got this time, but he will be messing with the shiny new Egg Scanner he got from the JKBA recently when the feed starts.]

If anyone needed a reason to join that Breeder's Association, if you meet their criteria for copper rank you get this thing. [He holds up the scanner.] You plug it into your gear, put an egg on it, and it'll spit out species, sex, moves--even if the damn thing is a shiny.

[He will briefly pan over to show the eggs.]

So if you want one of these things, I can actually tell you anything you'll want to know. No shinies, though.

I didn't even realize technology like this could exist... though I suppose it does make sense. Doubly so that it's in that Association's hands. This'll be seriously helpful.

The fact it can tell if it's a shiny is the most amazing part, honestly. We could guess at everything else, but there's no way to tell if it's a shiny before it hatches.

It's saving me a headache, at least. My partner and I always end up with way too man damn eggs and sorting them's a pain in the ass.

[He's already done this, but he'll demonstrate by grabbing one of the Scorbunny eggs and setting it on the scanner. There's a little jingle and then out pops the reading. He'll hold up the little piece of paper.]

The Scorbunnies have a different "ability" than most, I think. Some of the Ponyta eggs won't hatch into the Fire-type horses, the Skitties have way too many fucking moves...

It detects Hidden Abilities too! No way . . . !

oh, no. she’s getting twitchy. having a hidden ability pokemon is excellent for breeding. ]

Can I— could I buy that Scorbunny? If no one else has?

[Still probably Stupid Cheap for a hidden ability but like. He does not care.]

Man. Sometimes I think it'd be easier to turn a profit if I did become a Breeder. The scanner's definitely a good incentive...

But I don't know if I could give up all the Trainer perks. Feels like some serious FOMO.

They're literally paying me twenty-k a month to sit around and let my Pokemon do their thing. There's no profit involved, it's just money.

So what do they get out of it? Research? Do they sell the eggs instead of you?

I think they use them for their breeding projects and shit. They ask for a lot of "expensive" eggs, anyway.

Huh. So you breed them a few eggs, they breed them for their own needs... That does seem like a pretty cozy gig. You still get to profit off of any leftover eggs, too, right?

[Not that it's necessary, if that's the kinda income they provide. But seems like a pretty simple system to utilize in theory.]
