Summary: Urban Exploring in a burned out tower, what can go wrong?
Rating: PG-13 for IV's potty mouth and Ryou's love for the occult.

Beating the gym had gone surprisingly smooth for the most part - Shark's attempt to beat up ghosts using nothing but brute Normal-typed force aside. After the challenge, IV had brought his team to the Pokecenter to recuperate while he himself kicked back at the inn room he's staying at in the meantime. By dusk he had eaten a good meal at one of the Ecrutea's fancier eateries, picked up his pokemon ...and made the big mistake of letting some of them out as he explored the rest of the town.

His new Shuppet had made a beeline for the Burned Tower just to vanish within it, leaving IV to first to call after it, and when that failed, traipse in to get the curious apparition back out. Which went well until it didn't go well anymore.

IV yelps as the floorboards break beneath him, sending him tumbling down to god knows where.

"GODSDAMMIT!!"

[Unlike IV, Ryou decided to beeline directly for the Burned Tower after his win at Morty's gym. Well, almost directly, he had to go let his team recover at the Pokémon Center, get something to eat, refill his travel thermos with coffee, and then wait until it started getting dark to go look in the tower.

He even had the chance to find and catch a shiny Skorupi in town while waiting for dusk to come. A lucky find for sure, and Ryou's taking it to mean good luck.

Once in the tower, Ryou manages to find his way to the lower areas, Banshee and Hinotama trailing after him to keep him from hurting himself in the ruins (and, in the case of Hinotama, to also provide some light). He's having a pretty good time exploring, despite the encroaching dark impeding his vision, when he hears a scream and something comes tumbling down from above.]

What the- [Ryou runs over, blinking as he recognizes who it is once he gets close enough to tell.] -IV? Are you okay?

.....No.

[Some more debris trickles down on him as the head of a concerned looking Persian appears in the new opening above him. Cat gives a worried mrreow, but he's not too alerted since the tomcat already knows his trainer's body language. Besides, he just evolved! Cat is more than strong enough to defend his human from anything that may want to mess with him now!

IV is looking rather miffed in the meantime, even as he is slowly untangling himself from the floor and getting back up. Brushing the dirt off, he gives the person who suddenly showed up a curious look, even though he has already recognized the voice.]

... -Ryou. What are you doing here? And what the hell did I just fall through?

[The last question is purely rhetorical, even he can tell that he's crashed through the ramshackle floor.]

[Banshee looks up at Cat, then upon deciding that the Persian isn't a threat, returns her focus to what's going on in front of her. No, her main worry is making sure Ryou doesn't hurt himself in his urban exploration.

Ryou, meanwhile, is just relieved IV doesn't seem hurt from the fall and gives him space to get up, glancing up at the hole in the roof in the meantime.]

I was here looking for wild Mimikyu, I heard they live here and I'm interested in catching one. What are you doing here?

[He's also just curious about the burned out tower in general, but looking for Mimikyu is a major factor in why he's here.]

[Given that IV has a penchant for climbing up on high places just so that he can then dramatically pose and jump down from them, it's also safe to say that he also has his fair share of routine falling down from them. Enough to not get seriously hurt when doing it anymore, at least.]

A mimic-you? [He looks from Ryou up to his pokemon, deciding that it'll be better if Cat comes down too.] Cat! Hop!

[The Persian evaluates the distance to the ground, the landing options he has and then promptly launches himself into IV's waiting arms like a much smaller feline. IV staggers a bit at the impact, but he manages to keep standing and successfully catch his Persian as well. His impressively big Persian, as it turns out now that Cat is on the same level with them.]

Nyahhhh~ [Rumbling a feline-greeting, Cat approaches Ryou to give his legs a head-bump before slinking back to his trainer. He recognizes you, young man! You're one of his human's friends, and thus Cat's property by association as well. Banshee gets a curious look as well, but Cat isn't familiar enough with her to greet her like that as well.]

I was looking for my Shuppet. I got one recently, and it made a beeline for the tower when we were sightseeing the town a bit.

A Mimikyu. They're supposed to disguise themselves as Pikachu because their true forms are terrifying to look at.

[Ryou's explanation is cut short as Cat jumps down from the hole, landing in IV's arms before greeting Ryou.]

That's a big Persian! [There's a note of surprise in his reaction, as if he wasn't aware Cat was a Persian up until he got close. And that would be true, his need for glasses means he can't see the hole above clearly. Not that Ryou will admit it, especially not when there's bigger problems like IV's missing Shuppet.]

Your Shuppet came in here? I haven't seen one in the tower yet, maybe it's hiding somewhere?

[Both Banshee and Hinotama indicate they haven't seen a Shuppet either.]

Ah. How do you tell them from real pikachus?

[Hearing what he takes as marvel in Ryou's voice, IV places a hand on Cat's head and rubs his neck and cheek.]

He is, isn't he? He only just evolved earlier today, after he's helped me win the local badge. I took my whole team out on a walk to relax and only told them to stay near, but I fear Gimmick took that as a license to go exploring instead. Do you know if there is anything that's particularly attractive to ghosts in this place?

It's not supposed to be difficult to tell, the disguise is a rag covering that looks kind of like a Pikachu.

[He looks around, Hinotama floating around to help him see in the dark.

When IV mentions winning the local badge, Ryou's expression changes to a delighted one, out of happiness for IV.]

Congrats! I won the Fog Badge today, too!

[As for if there's anything interesting to ghosts in here-]

...Well, there are a few Ghost types that are supposed to live here. Mimikyu's one, and there's Gastly, Haunter, and Phantump. Beyond that, this place was supposedly struck by lightning and burned years ago.

[Sounds like someone did some research!]

Huh. I see... [He looks around, half expecting to see one of those creepy things hiding somewhere.]

You did? Congratulations! The poor Gym master must've taken quite a beating today, huh? Finding a way for my team to be able to hit his ghosts was a bit tricky, tho.

[He gives Hinotama an appreciating look. This ghost is really useful.]

Maybe it's the air of this place, then.
