EMERGENCY ALERT

[It comes subtly, at first. You feel a faint rumble. Is it lunch time? Is your stomach growling? No–it’s coming from beneath your feet, the bench you’re sitting on swaying gently. For a moment, you think that maybe it’s your seat companion shaking their leg, but they get up, and the rumbling continues. A small earthquake, perhaps? But earthquakes are not common here–not outside of Pokémon moves, that is.

The ground grows more and more unstable, and you realize that this is no ordinary earthquake. Suddenly, your PokéGear drones incessantly, the siren drawing your attention to the screen as a warning flashes across it–INTER-REGION EMERGENCY, TAKE EVACUATION PROCEDURES NOW!

Those watching the news or listening to the radio will have their program interrupted by a breaking news bulletin. The camera is shaky as it tries to zoom in on a reporter clutching a microphone. It looks like...Malva, the Elite Four candidate that was up for voting just a few months ago! She stands in front of what looks to be a giant hole in the ground, the asphalt broken up into chunks and crumbling into the cavernous depth below. The buildings behind her have giant holes punched out of them, as if something had tunneled through it with ease. Despite the chaos unfolding behind her, she seems very calm and collected.]

This is Malva, reporting to you live from Goldenrod City–woah! [The camera pivots quickly as a large form erupts out from the ground, narrowly missing the reporter.] We are issuing a state of emergency across the Johto and Kanto regions as these strange Pokémon have run completely amok. Even the Sevii Islands are reporting more tunnels–there’s nowhere they haven’t infested! Emergency volunteers are on standby to help assist those affected by this catastrophe, but find themselves spread thin by the sheer scale of this disaster.

[She pauses, tilting her head to the side ever so slightly.]

Even the Elite Four find themselves unable to deal with the situation on their own, leading us to wonder how capable they truly are, now that a child is in their ranks--

[An Officer Jenny passes behind her, shouting out instructions to an unseen team, when she suddenly spots the camera and Malva. Before Malva can even draw breath, Officer Jenny snatches the microphone from her, turning to face the camera. She’s clearly frazzled and immediately takes on a commanding tone as she speaks.]

Calling all experienced Pokémon trainers! We need your help trying to wrangle these Pokémon and prevent them from causing any further damage! These Pokémon are erratic and will eat any iron they can find. You’ll need at least two people to subdue them–taking them on by yourself is just too dangerous!

[A pause. She settles a bit, trying to maintain a professional tone.]

We have reason to believe that this was no random accident–our investigators found out that these strange new Pokémon are known as Orthworms. They originate from the Paldean region, which means that they must have been introduced. If you have any information about the miscreants responsible, please contact us immediately!

[At this point, she gives the microphone back to Malva, who looks less than pleased by the interruption. She clears her throat, adjusting her sunglasses.]

Well, you heard her here first, folks. Get out there and fight!
