Kicking the earth and dancing in the air [ACTION]
Who: Yuzu Hiiragi
Where: Cherrygrove City and the surrounding area
When: Orthworm Invasion
Summary: Local Duelist is totally fine. Time to fight some giant worms!
Rating: PG
Log:
[ Yuzu Hiiragi, now 17 years old, is incredibly fine. Why would she not be fine? A powerful and loving team of Pokemon, eight badges, and living rather comfortably for being a teenager with no actual concrete place to live long-term that isn't a local inn. Sure, most of the people she cared about are gone, having vanished from her contact list without a word and leaving her alone. Again.
But it's fine! She still has her Pokemon, after all! Besides, she doesn't have time to be sad about things like that when an actual earthquake rocks the region and everyone is suddenly beset by giant derpy-looking metal worms.
Yuzu was quick to rush over to Cherrygrove, thinking that since it's close to New Bark Town, where new arrivals usually show up. Therefore, where there's probably mostly beginners there... and besides, everyone seems to be getting control of the situation pretty quickly all things considered.
On the plus side, a distraction is exactly what she needs. A distraction in the form of a giant metal worm. Should be easy enough to handle, right? Yuzu's team is strong! She's got this! ]
DRILL RUN!!
[ That said... maybe 1v1ing one of the particularly large worms was not the greatest idea. She's certainly holding her own, but as Forte the Dusk Lycanroc rams into and clashes with the giant metal worm, knocking it back a fair distance, evidently it's Forte getting more tired than the Orthworm. ]
Hn... sturdier than I thought...!
[ They've gotta be Steel types, right? Ground type moves and other moves effective against Steel have had better luck with them, but this is seriously just like the Hisuian Braviary's all over again. Heck, staying idle while fighting an Orthworm 1v1 is already dangerous enough that Yuzu has to be riding her rock wolf in order to keep moving... which also puts her in danger considering that Forte is battling, but it's the lesser of two dangers. Besides, it's basically just like Action Dueling at this point. ]
Gh...! Settle down already!! Drill Run!! [ At the very least, Yuzu deserves credit for the fact that she's actually holding her own against one of the stronger Orthworms on her own... even if going alone in the first place is decidedly one of the most reckless things she's done. ]

[ Yuzu was just about to start moving again, running to the side in order to flank the Orthworm... but that strategy suddenly changes when she finds herself with Romelle behind her. Especially when the Orthworm is rearing up for an Iron Tail. ]
Kh...! Forte, Counter!!
[ Yuzu quickly pushes off of her Lycanroc's back, rolling on the ground while Forte suddenly braces itself, green eyes suddenly flashing a violent red...
The Iron Tail lands, slamming down on the comparatively smaller orange wolf. For a second, it looks like Forte buckles... but as the dust settles, they suddenly rear their head and charge, the stones in their mane glowing as they slam into the giant Orthworm.
Compared to the other moves Yuzu's had Forte use, this one actually causes the Orthworm to retreat somewhat... though it's more like it's just staggering backward, reeling from the attack. In comparison, though, Yuzu's wolf now looks very tired. Romelle is saved! For now, at least. ]
Romelle...! Are you okay!?

[Quagsire seemed very put out however.]
I've been hoping to avoid all these worms, but... I guess one finally found me.
[It was very stressful... both avoiding and worrying and... goodness, Romelle really hated adventures!]
I'm not sure that my Quagsire really can do much... um... Oh!
[Romelle turned, suddenly getting an idea.]
Use Earthquake!
[Romelle's Pokemon made a deep gurgling kind of noise before making the ground around the Orthworm shake violently.]

[ The Earthquake lands, and sure enough, the massive Orthworm cries out as the ground shifts and crumbles underneath it. It's not down yet, but it definitely did more than what other attacks are doing... on top of slowing it down.
In any case, Yuzu takes the opportunity to return Forte to his ball so that Yuzu can switch out to another less-tired Pokemon. ]
Right, Ground-Type moves definitely work...! I'll bet it's a Steel-Type then...
[ She tosses out her next Pokemon, this time being a large Torterra to fight next. ]
Don't worry about me, I'll keep it distracted, so you get to safety!
[ Yuzu is apparently still set on soloing this fight. ]

My Quagsire can help! [She nodded to him.]
Quaaaaaaaag! [The blue blob of a creature waddled along to go help.]
You don't have to do this alone!
[Though... Romelle, herself, wasn't going to get much closer than she had to physically.]

Wait, no...! Seriously, I'm fine—AH!!
[ As she looks back to Romelle, the Orthworm suddenly surges forward, tearing through the ground at the moment of Yuzu's momentary distraction. ]
O-Ostinato!! Earth—KYAAA...!!
[ Before she can get the command out, the Orthworm whirls around, striking Yuzu's Torterra. Ostinato is far from lightweight... in fact, he's one of the heaviest members of Yuzu's roster, and yet a single Iron Tail from this massive Orthworm is enough to send the massive turtle flying. ]

The Quagsire let out another Earthquake once it got the chance, shaking the ground all around the worm.
Romelle definitely had other Pokémon with her, too, but she wasn't really sure at this point what would be best. She just knew that the Earthquake had worked the first time, so she'd give that a go again.
This was why she'd dropped out of the Gym Circuit...]
