These freaky-necked things really don't let up, huh? I'm starting to think me and Ilex Forest just aren't meant to mix; every time we're ready to start that way, something comes up.
[Eda seems more amused than annoyed as she adjusts her Pokegear to show a battle: A shiny Hisuian Zorua, facing off against a Flamigo. The wild Pokemon is clearly getting frustrated as its forceful kicks keep making contact with Zorua without any results. The Zorua doesn't even flinch, in fact, it seems to be laughing.]
Anyway, this one can't be the smartest bird in the flock. Well, at least it's a good way to train up this new little guy!
...Maybe it's nuts, but I kind of want to catch the guy. I mean, you gotta give him credit for the determination, right?

Indeed. Even if one is not bright, they can be guided appropriately. I would say that I still had much to learn in the way of tactics when I was a student, but my professor knew how to best bring out my potential.
I almost feel, at least with battles against Elite gym teams, that I have managed to live up to at least a little bit of that.
[Look, Byleth. He's using his own brains.]
So... I think catching that one would not be a terrible idea, and I am sure they would be glad to have someone helping them. I know that I certainly was.

[She is entirely, delightedly sincere about this.]
Hopefully I can be just as much a help to this guy, huh?

I think that is a somewhat different type of strategizing, but - he did seem pleased when he arrived here. I have another rat, as a gift from him.
[Given by a god, even, basically.]
Anyway, I imagine that you will do wonderfully for him, with some patience. Finding what drives them as well can go a great deal. Some of my own, for example, do best with a rival, while others like the reward of food.

Plus, it's just nice to get to know them better. They've all got their own personalities.

Although, if you ever have difficulty communicating and working with your companions... Obviously it would depend on the individual, but have you ever heard of the unique abilities of Psychic types?

[It's truly a reoccurring problem with her pair of Meowstic.]

[Not all abilities have to be helpful ones.]
But rather... Because of their psychic powers, those types can actually learn how to communicate with humans through a mental link. I have an Indeedee companion who has learned how to do it, and she has been a great help in communicating nuances between me and the rest of my team.
