[Kuroko took the ferry to Pallet Town a while ago, and he hasn't really budged much from there. He'll venture into Route 1, try to battle a Pokémon, not do so well, and return to his room at the inn. He's been doing the work-for-your-room thing, though it's sometimes hard to prove he was working if no one noticed he was there at all.]

[In his time of not being particularly skilled with battling and catching Pokémon, he did manage to scare a Pidgey into a ball thanks to his Gastly, so at the very least he has a large ghost and a small bird.]

[However, his losing streak is going long and strong, and being someone who likes to win this isn't settling well with Kuroko. He's asking for advice where he can get it, and is finally going to make use of the PokéGear's network functions.]

Any tips on how to level up Pokémon? I'm having trouble winning battles. Thank you.

[The "Action" part of this is if you're also in Pallet Town, you'll have the chance to see him playing basketball around his Gastly, who's acting as a blocker and is just happy to be there. Kuroko's Pidgey likes to perch on the backboard and has the audacity to be shocked when the ball hits said backboard. You'll probably notice the Pokémon a while before you see Kuroko thanks to his lack of presence.]

[It's probably helpful to know whether he is talking to someone completely new --well, Armin already suspects they are new-- who needs all the basics explained or if it's more a case of someone taking their level 5 Caterpie and trying to take down a gym.]
