Day at the races

Who: Anyone coming to race!
Where: Circuit de Kantochamps
When: September 15th
Summary: Farrah Ari has a problem and she has appealed to you for help!
Log:

On September 15, all who have given heed to Farrah's plea for help gather at Circuit de Kantochamps over in, well, Kanto. UBIRDS were arranged by Farrah for the event (she really, really wants someone to beat these little jerks) so anyone, anywhere is welcome to join!

Once you arrive at the Circuit, Farrah can be seen pacing and muttering to herself, her Cyclizar Charles trying his level best to calm her down. It doesn't look like she is interested in a chat right now. Neither would you be, probably, if your Circuit was absolutely flooded with strange Tentacool knock-offs (If you scan them with your gear, the Pokedex will tell you these pokemon are called Toedscool) who are all jumping around, stretching, wrestling a bit amongst each other and being a rather general nuisance. Though if anyone tries to tell them off, they very quickly flee to hide behind--

Oh good god.

That's an absolutely massive Tentacruel-- no, Toedscruel. She towers over the many little Toedscool, patting them with her massive tentacles, and having the audacity to glare at you if you even dare to look slightly funny at her very precious brood.

Unfortunately, because of how quickly Farrah had to put this all together, there aren't a lot of side activities available at the circuit right now. There is The Race obviously, but apart from that, you are free to check out The Stables where Farrah's Cyclizar are being kept. If you are interested in borrowing one for the race, you might want to head over there a little early and get to meet your new ride.

The other thing that is available is A Small Museum. And we do mean small! It's barely two rooms, but it is filled with memorabilia of Cyclizar racers and racing from outside of this region. It honestly looks less like a formal museum, and more like someone's personal collection that has grown massively out of control. But hey, if you have an interest in learning a bit more about Cyclizar racing (or if you just want a quiet place to flee the crowd) feel free to check it out.

Character: Yuzu Hiiragi
Pokemon: Tsukikage the Greninja
Obstacles:

1. You would think that at some point, when it comes to a race, Yuzu would choose a Pokemon more conventional for the sake of mounting. Y'know, something preferably with four legs... but upon hearing that there would be obstacles, well, sometimes the answer to every problem is a Ninja... and the first obstacle being a slippery floor just reinforces this. Time for a piggy back ride on a frog ninja!

Upon reaching the first obstacle, Yuzu will have Tsukikage use Bounce to try and jump over the entire obstacle, and if they don't have enough distance to make it past the whole thing in one jump, Tsukikage can use Hydro Pump in a way very similar to the way it's used in a certain fighting game to propel them the rest of the way.

2. The pool of water doesn't even count as an obstacle to Tsukikage... because Tsukikage can run on water. No need to use the stumps, just jump in and run across. The sides aren't a problem either, because Tsukikage can easily clear with a single jump, using Bounce, or even just running up the side.

3. Yet again, the best way to get past problems on the ground is to just... go above them. Bounce will be used to get well above all the spikes, but in order to be able to clear more distance, on top of using Hydro Pump as propulsion... Tsukikage will also be using Substitute. How does this help? Well, by using the Substitute (which is either a large green plushie or a wooden log) as a footstool... Tsukikage can use Bounce again. It's not perfect, since Substitute uses up health and can't be used indefinitely, but it's a good way to gain more distance in emergencies. Any stray midair Pineco's can be dealt with by a quick Night Slash, meanwhile. Sorry, Pineco's... at least the move isn't very effective?

4. So, as proven by one of Frogadier's Pokedex entries... Tsukikage can scale walls very quickly. Fifteen foot wall? Try two-thousand foot skyscraper. Yuzu and Tsukikage will be bypassing the maze entirely by just... running up to the top of the maze and running along the top in a straight line.

5. This... is actually a problem. Thanks, type disadvantage, Yuzu would really like to avoid getting herself and Tsukikage hit by an Electric type move. Where are the items that give Pokemon their hidden abilities when you need them, dang it. Still, it's fine... because to avoid the Sparks on the ground, Yuzu and Tsukikage will yet again jump over all of it. This time, Tsukikage will use Ice Beam to create a ramp of ice, and then use that ramp and the speed gained by the slipperiness to shoot into the air and out of the danger zone.

6. Yet again, walls are not obstacles to Tsukikage. A steep curve means nothing when you can already scale surfaces that are perfectly vertical. Tsukikage has plenty of speed as well, so really, this is one of those rare cases where "just run up the wall" is just an actual working strategy.

7. Sticky webs the bane of my existence. As Yuzu and Tsukikage's final trick for the race... Yuzu will combine the two strategies that she used for the Spikes and Sparks. First, an Ice Beam to create a ramp to launch them into the air... and then, once in the air, Tsukikage will use Substitute, and by using that Substitute as a footstool, Tsukikage will use Bounce... horizontally, launching them towards the finish line and using Hydro Pump for extra propulsion.
