Day at the races
Who: Anyone coming to race!
Where: Circuit de Kantochamps
When: September 15th
Summary: Farrah Ari has a problem and she has appealed to you for help!
Log:
On September 15, all who have given heed to Farrah's plea for help gather at Circuit de Kantochamps over in, well, Kanto. UBIRDS were arranged by Farrah for the event (she really, really wants someone to beat these little jerks) so anyone, anywhere is welcome to join!
Once you arrive at the Circuit, Farrah can be seen pacing and muttering to herself, her Cyclizar Charles trying his level best to calm her down. It doesn't look like she is interested in a chat right now. Neither would you be, probably, if your Circuit was absolutely flooded with strange Tentacool knock-offs (If you scan them with your gear, the Pokedex will tell you these pokemon are called Toedscool) who are all jumping around, stretching, wrestling a bit amongst each other and being a rather general nuisance. Though if anyone tries to tell them off, they very quickly flee to hide behind--
Oh good god.
That's an absolutely massive Tentacruel-- no, Toedscruel. She towers over the many little Toedscool, patting them with her massive tentacles, and having the audacity to glare at you if you even dare to look slightly funny at her very precious brood.
Unfortunately, because of how quickly Farrah had to put this all together, there aren't a lot of side activities available at the circuit right now. There is The Race obviously, but apart from that, you are free to check out The Stables where Farrah's Cyclizar are being kept. If you are interested in borrowing one for the race, you might want to head over there a little early and get to meet your new ride.
The other thing that is available is A Small Museum. And we do mean small! It's barely two rooms, but it is filled with memorabilia of Cyclizar racers and racing from outside of this region. It honestly looks less like a formal museum, and more like someone's personal collection that has grown massively out of control. But hey, if you have an interest in learning a bit more about Cyclizar racing (or if you just want a quiet place to flee the crowd) feel free to check it out.

“Rose, Roselia. Lia, Rose,” Carmen could see how eager these Growlithe are as she politely waves at them, even though she is in a partial type disadvantage with Fire, but that doesn’t seem to bother her too much especially when one has a fire pony and a pepper plant for teammates.
“Bat, Noibat, Bat!” Félix gleefully greets them in return, being so happy to see new friends too.
“Yeah, I would be great to see which of them would be happy to take on the journey as well. Many in my team have expressed taking part of it as well as I try to switch them around so they can take turns in participating in the rally.”
no subject
He hasn't had much use for them himself. Maybe he should? Were they useful for breeders too? For trainers, certainly. But that's not what he's ever been. And despite his Whirlipede, his pokemon aren't much for battling.
In fact, the Growlithe nearest to Carmen is rolling over on its back, waving its stubby legs in the air. See? No fire here. Just a floppy pup.
"Have you very many? I find keeping a large number to be taxing, myself."
no subject
Carmen giggles at how humorous the Growlithe is as the one nearest to her rolls over and waving its legs like a happy little dog.
“Oh don’t worry. I did kept a few of them at a time for much of the trip and switch them out so they can all share in the fun. Although I just found that I didn’t rotate out Carmen and Félix for most of the time I have been participating in the rally.”
no subject
One day, he'll get a handle on his Whirlipede. As of now, he mostly leaves the angry bug to its own devices.
"Well, we can't be perfect. I typically have at least these three with me as much as possible." Two Growlithe and an Oricorio. If that's playing favorites then he's guilty as charged.
no subject
“That’s okay. There have been times where I had to deal with having to pick a good amount of Pokémon to take me for most journeys these days and not get emotionally torn about it in fear that I might ignore the rest. Luckily Carmen and Félix are among the Pokémon who are more than capable to handle things well on their well fairly well.”
no subject
He keeps his own gaze on the screens, occasionally glancing over to regard Isabela. Come on Riz! Come on Luisa!
"Then you have more emotional fortitude than myself. I can barely bring myself to keep them in their balls for too long." But that's - possibly a Shadowmaru Problem. Something about confinement and past issues.
no subject
She nods quietly as he speaks about being unable to keep any of his Mon in balls. The struggles of being a Pokémon Trainer can vary from trainer to trainer, but it doesn’t mean that they are all valid.
“Ah I see. I understand it very much, Cappy tries to do anything in his power to stay out of his ball as much as he could. He just hates being stuck inside it most of the time.”
no subject
Purely based on the fact his Whirlipede is a little devil. It lives for conflict and combat. Maybe giving it more options isn't the best idea. The rest seem fine, though. Except... Hex. Hm. More thought is needed.
He leans forward, elbows on his knees. "Did you catch him? Or did he join up with you some other way?"
no subject
“Oh yeah, I sure did get to catch him. I did need to catch a wild Slowpoke on the outskirts of Azalea Town (since trying to catch one within town premises is a big no-no in there) and I was able to get said Slowpoke to battle him before I was able to catch him in the end. He did however put a good fight, I must admit.”
no subject
Really, though, he wouldn't trade his weird angry bug for anything. It's entertaining, at least, to see Whirlipede roll around everywhere with that irritated look on its face.
"Perhaps that's the reason he dislikes being in a ball. Far too used to his freedom in wide open spaces?"
no subject
“Bat! Noi-bat! Bat! Noi!!!” The Noibat lets out a panicked scream.
no subject
Oh, that doesn't look good. Shadowmaru trails off, getting to his feet worriedly. His eyes on the screens as well - while his Growlithe bristle, growling at what they're seeing.
"Hold on." To the Growlithe, who, to their credit, fall quiet, but their fur stays standing on end. "It may just be attempting an intimidation."
no subject
“Rose…”
“Carmen, just calm dow. There is no need to get upset at the wild Pokemon being seen on the-” Okay it looks like there is one Pokémon who seems to be the leader judging by the size, “Whoa, what is that? I never seen a Pokémon this big before.”
“Noi… Bat…” Felix cringes as he panics at the sight of Big Mama Toedscruel.
no subject
Not on purpose, of course. And wasn't the racetrack here first? His Growlithe shuffle a little closer to poor Felix, puffing their fur up protectively. It's okay, buddy, they're strong! They'll protect you!
"We saw larger than normal pokemon once," Shadowmaru murmurs. "In another time period. Due to meddling from a... strange scientist, we found ourselves in the past. Some pokemon were far larger there than they should have been."
no subject
Just thinking about being stranded in the wrong time period and dealing with many dangers of trying to survive in the wild due to a scientist’s meddling does get Isabela understandably worried a lot about her sisters. What sort of dangers did Mirabel and Luisa had encountered while they were in there?
“I can’t imagine running into a Pokémon that is way bigger than normal running amok and attacking people and Pokémon alike. That is a very scary reality to deal with. Did that phenomenon found its way to the present day as well?”
“Bat. Noi-bat, Bat, Bat” Félix sniffles as he gets enveloped in Growlithe fur, giving him much needed relief from his constant panicking over Big Mama Toedscruel.
no subject
So he imagines, hopes, the same will be true here. The racers out there will be able to defend themselves. Goodness knows Shadowmaru isn't here with pokemon who are terribly strong... He would have brought Whirlipede if he thought there would be combat here.
"I certainly hope not. But ... stranger things have happened."
It's entirely possible it followed them. After all, one of his Growlithe came from that era. But that wasn't one of the pokemon he'd seen there. Said Hisuian Growlithe even takes it upon itself to give Noibat a few reassuring licks. They are helping! Maybe.
no subject
Félix is still shaken from the Toedscruel appearance but he is starting to feel less stiff this time thanks to the Growlithe. The licks are greatly appreciated. Carmen meanwhile hasn’t let go of looking at the screen, hoping that the racers will be alright and can push through the Toedscruel’s schemes in the end.
no subject
Especially at night. They were quite terrifying at night. He'd buried himself under his Growlithe sometimes, being stuck in a strange world, stripped of pokemon and defenses... awful.
Said Growlithe is doing its best! While the other one watches too, trying to keep its tail from wagging. Listen, this is just exciting, okay?

“Noi-Bat!”
