Day at the races

On September 15, all who have given heed to Farrah's plea for help gather at Circuit de Kantochamps over in, well, Kanto. UBIRDS were arranged by Farrah for the event (she really, really wants someone to beat these little jerks) so anyone, anywhere is welcome to join!

Once you arrive at the Circuit, Farrah can be seen pacing and muttering to herself, her Cyclizar Charles trying his level best to calm her down. It doesn't look like she is interested in a chat right now. Neither would you be, probably, if your Circuit was absolutely flooded with strange Tentacool knock-offs (If you scan them with your gear, the Pokedex will tell you these pokemon are called Toedscool) who are all jumping around, stretching, wrestling a bit amongst each other and being a rather general nuisance. Though if anyone tries to tell them off, they very quickly flee to hide behind--

Oh good god.

That's an absolutely massive Tentacruel-- no, Toedscruel. She towers over the many little Toedscool, patting them with her massive tentacles, and having the audacity to glare at you if you even dare to look slightly funny at her very precious brood.

Unfortunately, because of how quickly Farrah had to put this all together, there aren't a lot of side activities available at the circuit right now. There is The Race obviously, but apart from that, you are free to check out The Stables where Farrah's Cyclizar are being kept. If you are interested in borrowing one for the race, you might want to head over there a little early and get to meet your new ride.

The other thing that is available is A Small Museum. And we do mean small! It's barely two rooms, but it is filled with memorabilia of Cyclizar racers and racing from outside of this region. It honestly looks less like a formal museum, and more like someone's personal collection that has grown massively out of control. But hey, if you have an interest in learning a bit more about Cyclizar racing (or if you just want a quiet place to flee the crowd) feel free to check it out.

"Ahh, so coming here has an ulterior motive. Satisfying your pokemon's wanderlust."

That's a joke, he's teasing. Min probably wouldn't consider it an "ulterior" motive to come out here, whether or not it made his pokemon happy. The boy doesn't seem to have an 'ulterior motive' bone in his body, anyway.

"As I understand it, this place is often open to the public. I'm sure you'd be allowed to return."

He knows it's a joke. Shadowmaru's tone makes that obvious. Min's face still freezes slightly, as though he wishes that had occurred to him before.

"...We took a uBird," he admits. All the more reason to make it up to her next time.

Beat looks up from his introductions to snort reassuringly. It's fine. Saffron won't mind! They've had plenty of adventures recently!

Well that's - not the reaction he'd hoped for. His expression falls slightly before Shadowmaru manages to compose himself.

"... You're seeing new sights! Surely that counts!" Oh yeah, he's so suave. Look at him, he nailed this.

Meanwhile, the Growlithe let out encouraging little "wuff" noises. See? They support you too, Min-gi.

"Yeah, of course. Of course it counts." Min-Gi waves off his attempts to reassure him. It was a joke. It's fine. He has plenty of time to take Saffron out and see different sights before the cold weather sets in enough to make that uncomfortable for both of them.

He moves close enough to pat the nearest Growlithe reassuringly.

Oh you're petting them? Then both Growlithe are coming over for pets. At least they sit, and wait their turn.

"They like you, it seems."

There, let's talk about the puppies and not about the awkward joke failure.

At least they're patient, which is more than can be set for most of Min's attention hungry Pokémon. To Beat's credit, much as he likes attention he sits back while the dogs get their pets. It's probably just as well he knows how to wait considering his size.

"I like dogs. I've never had one, but... they're nice."

One Growlithe will perk its ears and trot over to Beat, wagging its tail. Hello let's hang out while the trainers talk!

"Perhaps I'll be able to provide you with one in the future, if you like." He gestures to himself a bit. "I'm supposedly a breeder, after all."

Beat wags his own tail in return, laying himself down so they can hang out without the Baxcalibur towering over the other Pokémon.

"Yeah, maybe," Min agrees, brightening. "If you end up with any extras."

Oh! Exciting! Growlithe wiggles - it's so stumpy its whole body vibrates when it does. Play? Can they play? Playtime?

"I shall keep that in mind, then."
