Day at the races
Who: Anyone coming to race!
Where: Circuit de Kantochamps
When: September 15th
Summary: Farrah Ari has a problem and she has appealed to you for help!
Log:
On September 15, all who have given heed to Farrah's plea for help gather at Circuit de Kantochamps over in, well, Kanto. UBIRDS were arranged by Farrah for the event (she really, really wants someone to beat these little jerks) so anyone, anywhere is welcome to join!
Once you arrive at the Circuit, Farrah can be seen pacing and muttering to herself, her Cyclizar Charles trying his level best to calm her down. It doesn't look like she is interested in a chat right now. Neither would you be, probably, if your Circuit was absolutely flooded with strange Tentacool knock-offs (If you scan them with your gear, the Pokedex will tell you these pokemon are called Toedscool) who are all jumping around, stretching, wrestling a bit amongst each other and being a rather general nuisance. Though if anyone tries to tell them off, they very quickly flee to hide behind--
Oh good god.
That's an absolutely massive Tentacruel-- no, Toedscruel. She towers over the many little Toedscool, patting them with her massive tentacles, and having the audacity to glare at you if you even dare to look slightly funny at her very precious brood.
Unfortunately, because of how quickly Farrah had to put this all together, there aren't a lot of side activities available at the circuit right now. There is The Race obviously, but apart from that, you are free to check out The Stables where Farrah's Cyclizar are being kept. If you are interested in borrowing one for the race, you might want to head over there a little early and get to meet your new ride.
The other thing that is available is A Small Museum. And we do mean small! It's barely two rooms, but it is filled with memorabilia of Cyclizar racers and racing from outside of this region. It honestly looks less like a formal museum, and more like someone's personal collection that has grown massively out of control. But hey, if you have an interest in learning a bit more about Cyclizar racing (or if you just want a quiet place to flee the crowd) feel free to check it out.

"You mean that?"
Because the last thing she wants is to accidentally push him away, echoes of Keith leaving the team still lingering.

He looks a little surprised at the question. But... maybe he shouldn't be. He knows his habits. And they haven't gotten any better since he's been here. They've stayed the same - pulling back, pushing away.
"It's me. I don't... I don't respond well to people worrying. And I know that doesn't make sense. But it's me. Not you, any of you."
no subject
Okay there, a faint smile reappears.
"Thank you. Then... how should I look after you? I don't want to press too hard, but... well, I think we're both alike in trying to put up a strong front for others. Even when we don't need to. Just habit by this point."
no subject
I don't want you to worry. I don't want to be another thing on anyone's plate.
No, it's not just that. It's an ingrained, knee-jerk response to someone trying to take care of him. To look after him. Like he's something that needs to be taken care of, like he's already an invalid - and no. No, that isn't what she means. That isn't what anyone here means.
So why is it so damn hard to accept it? Knowing it is simple. Accepting it... that isn't something he's sure he can do, no matter how much he wants to. And none of it, absolutely none, is Allura's fault. How does he put this, how can he put this, without making it sound like it is?
Finally, he pushes his hand through his hair.
"I don't know," he says. It's all he can think to say and still be honest with her. "I - swear to you. I would tell you, if I knew. You of all people - " Her and Keith. He'd tell them both. But that's the problem.
There isn't anything to tell that would help.
"I'm sorry."

"It's all right, Shiro, really. It's... not always easy, being vulnerable. You remember what I was like when we first met."
A young woman the same age as Keith and Lance and Hunk who had just lost EVERYTHING except for her house, her advisor, and four mice, forced to take on the mantle of a general millennia too late and still years and years too early. Of course she had to stay strong, couldn't rely on the Paladins she'd recruited to fight her war to help ease her emotional burdens when she asked them for everything else already, when she wasn't really one of them.
But she was wrong back then, she knows that now. And some of the words that Keith shared after the tunnel incident guide her in what to say next... she hopes. Or it could blow up in her face again, but she needs to try at least.
"I will say that... I knew you would be fine if you healed on your own. You're very strong; nobody who knows you would ever say otherwise, I don't think. But I want to help you with things like this because I care about you, and you always do so much for me. You're my family."
no subject
It feels... worse, somehow. She'd lost everything, she'd been in a whole new time period, almost completely alone. While here he was, struggling with something that wasn't even real anymore. Here she was, offering a shoulder, not a crutch.
And here he was, pushing it away.
"I know you do. I know... I know all of you do. Always have." But - and there's always a 'but'. Always. "But I don't know why I'm like this. Or why it's - why I can't just be normal about this. You're family, too. And I don't doubt you care."
He never has. And never will. If he could change this about himself, he would.
no subject
A soft nod.
"I know. The struggle can be hard." She's quiet as she considers her next words. "Still... at least you acknowledge it. And... it might not be a bad idea to talk to someone about this. Not necessarily me, or anyone else in our house, but... someone you trust, that might have ideas to help you."
She almost wants to suggest therapy outright, but she's worried that might be overstepping.
"It's just a suggestion, of course, and how you handle this is your choice and business. I just... want to let you know we are here for you."
no subject
It's quiet, gentle as he can make it. He does know. He won't ever doubt it. He can't ever doubt it. But, again, knowing and acting are different things. He knows they care, he knows they aren't trying to treat him like something faulty - someone who can't do anything.
"I... can't promise anything." Another admittance. If only because he hates making promises he can't keep. "But I can try."
