A Mandalorian Feast! [Closed]
Who: Bo-Katan, Mando, Riz, Boober, Shadowmaru, and Gobo
Where: Mando's Apartment in Saffron City
When: Early August
Summary: Bo-Katan makes a Mandalorian feast for Mando's family.
A - Slaving Away in the Kitchen
Something was up.
Bo-Katan had come back from Lavender Town that past weekend, but instead of relaxing or taking it easy, she was very busy. The day before she had gone out shopping and brought back... a LOT of food. Her Cyclizar had to help her carry it all back as it was simply too much for her two hands to hold onto. The fridge and pantry were practically overflowing with everything she had come back with. She then spent that evening cleaning and polishing her armor as a Mandalorian does every now and then.
The next day, her armor stacked neatly in a corner of the living room, she really got to work. Wearing her bird keeper outfit, she took over the kitchen early in the morning. Sorry Boober, she knows this is usually your space but she's usurping your rule for today. Bo-Katan starts by brewing a pot of spiced caf, which is really just coffee with spices added to it, knowing she's going to need it to keep her going. Once she downed her first cup, she used a couple hair clips to keep her hair out of her face, and got to work.
Throughout the day she would be working diligently. It's been a long time since she's done anything like this, but the Mandalorian princess was determined to do it right. Or at least as right as she could. After all, many of the ingredients she needed were not available in this world. So she did her absolute best to find good substitutes. The smells of food filling the apartment at all hours as she worked. At one point there was the distinct smell of bread, another there was the smell of meat and vegetables cooking, later one could swear the air would burn their nose hairs off with the spices that were being used, and eventually a pleasantly sweet aroma filled the place.
Anyone who was curious about what was going on was free to stick their head in, but she would rarely slow down with the exception of a short break here and there. It was hot and grueling work, but she hoped it would pay off.
B - The Feast
Eventually it would all be ready. Bo-Katan had made sure to send out a couple of invitations in advance to both Shadowmaru and Gobo, and sent messages to Din and Riz urging them get home on time. Bo-Katan took a quick shower, fixed her hair, and put on her armor.
As everyone arrived, they would find the kitchen table absolutely covered with food. A spread fit for a Mandalorian king. There was a plate of fresh haarshun bread made from scratch. Next to that was a pot of warm pog soup also made from scratch and completely vegetarian. With cups set next to the pot and a ladle with which to scoop the soup into them. It would be recommended that the bread be dipped into the soup. In the middle of the table were slices of roasted meat. Roast shatual is what she would call it, with the addendum that it's actually Skiddo meat but its the closest thing she could find. Bo having taken the time to select the cut of meat used at a butcher and having them roast it to her specifications as doing so over an open flame in the apartment was probably not a good idea. Across from the shatual was the gi dumpling soup. This soup featuring meaty dumplings made with Magikarp meat, again made from scratch. There's two pots of it, one with the fish meat, and another with dumplings containing tofu for the Fraggles. If anyone had been wondering what the spiciness was all about, they would find out with the pot of Tiingilar. A hearty stew of vegetables and hoothoot meat, and a smaller pot of it lacking the meat for the Fraggles. Be warned, it's very spicy! Next to that is a simple salad and a pot of "not quite Cassius tea but close enough" set next to it which is some sort of fragrant green tea. Finally, there is what looks to be a large cake covered in confectioner's sugar. The uj'alayi, or uj cake for short, is placed at the end for dessert. It's sticky and sweet, but very filling. Bo-Katan having especially put all her thought and care into this as its near and dear to her. There's even a couple other cakes set aside for later, wrapped in red cloth.
Cutlery, plates, bowls, and cups are all set out for use with the food. There is a lot of it so eat your fill! Even if everyone eats ravenously there's likely enough to have leftovers for days. Bo-Katan knows that at least one of them will eat alone in another room, so it's all very casual. She simply sits back with her own bowl of tiingilar, a cup of tea, and a plate of uj'alayi. Enjoying watching everyone else try the food.
((OOC: This is a mingle prompt! You don't just have to tag Bo. Feel free to tag among each other!))
C - After the Meal
What Mandalorian feast is complete without the booze? Once everyone has had their fill of food, Bo-Katan breaks out a bottle of alcohol. Naturally she couldn't get a bottle of Mandalorian wine, but she found something suitable enough. Rest assured, it's very strong. She wouldn't have it any other way.
This is, of course, for the adults. Sorry kids, but while you guys pass out into food comas, the grown-ups are going to enjoy the good stuff. Or at the very least, Bo will. After a long hard day, she feels she deserves it. As well as some conversation if anyone else is up for it.

And one somehow easier to answer than that of his age. He's not sure how that would translate. Surely, if they were considered too young, they wouldn't be in the field.
"I don't know that preference can factor in. It isn't comparable, really. There are things confined to both... for example, I can't fly in this body as I can in my original one." He returns to examining his hands. "And, in turn, I lack the depth of physical sensation this body has."
Tactile sense, he means. Humans had such delicate senses of touch.
no subject
"So there are pros and cons. It's just different."
Bo-Katan nods to herself in understanding. That answer being satisfactory to her. Her expression then softens a little bit.
"Well, I hope you can get the full human experience before you're sent back to your world. It is a shame that we won't supposedly remember anything here."
no subject
He can't even really think of a comparison. Of anything he can say that would make a human understand. It's no fault of theirs. Maybe his... maybe it's some other failing of Artificial Intelligence.
"Oh, I'm learning a great deal. For example, self expression!" He splays his hands out more into view. Nail polish and all. "It's so novel. All of the things human beings have created to make themselves stand out..."
Hence the purple hair, too.
no subject
“If you want to stand out there is definitely no lack of means. You certainly have been creative with that. And it’s easy to see what your favorite color is.”
Her tone is one of amusement. He was almost like a little kid in his enthusiasm. It’s kind of adorable, even if his tastes are definitely not hers.

He has a whole channel on the internet and everything. It's how he generates his income without battling.
"Purple... was my color, in my original form."
no subject
Another amused smirk before she gestured at herself.
"As you can see, that's not my thing. My sister though, I think she would have appreciated your... style."
And purple being the color of his original form definitely explains that!

Now he's just propping his chin up on his hands. Looking like he is settled in for the juicy details.

“She was the ruler of our people for a time, and a gifted politician. We were always very different. And she died a long time ago.”

He folds his arms, then, instead, leaning on his elbows. The interested expression also folds. A calm, collected one sliding into place instead.
"You have my utmost condolences. Regardless of the length of time passed."
no subject
“As I’ve told Din, I’m the last of my line. The price for continued war among our people.”
Once upon a time she had thought her sister a fool for believing in pacifism. While she still wouldn’t fully agree, Bo-Katan understood why now more than ever.
no subject
This is well out of his realm of understanding. Lineage, war. All of it is outside his experience. Humans have so many things to balance. It's strange. Does Mando have to think on these things? Or - did he? Before coming here?
Then again, maybe there's a reason he doesn't talk much about his background, outside of his child. Shadowmaru doesn't pry, and neither does Mando.
"Except that I am sorry. For so much loss."
no subject
It was simply a matter of fact. She wasn’t necessarily looking for sympathy. But she supposed Shadowmaru couldn’t quite understand that so she moved on from that topic.
“Anyway. Thank you for coming. I hope you enjoy all of the food.”
no subject
That's how he'd understood anyway. And Mando had adopted his son. Is it different, then, for those who take off their helmets?
"Of course. And thank you, for your efforts."
no subject
“If a child is adopted as a foundling, yes. Though most of us are Mandalorian by blood.”
Din only had a partial view of Mandalorians as a whole, based solely upon his experiences in his covert. Bo has had to show him how her side of things worked.
“It has been my pleasure.”
